삼치 시퀀스의 상관함수 특성 개선 연구 (A Study on Improving the Correlation Characteristics of a Ternary Sequence)

  • 삼치 시퀀스(ternary sequence)는 -1, 0, 1의 3가지 값으로만 구성되어 있는 디지털 코드이다. 따라서 디지털 하드웨어로 구현이 편리하다는 장점이 있다 본 시퀀스는 환형 자기상관함수(circular/periodic autocorrelation function)가 이상적으로 나타나는 특징을 가지고 있다. 하지만 본 시퀀스를 이용해 송신기와 수신기사이의 통신 채널 특성을 긴 시간 구간에 걸쳐서 파악하고자 상호상관 법을 사용하기 위해서는 환형이 아니라 선형적인 자기상관함수(linear/aperiodic autocorrelation function) 특성이 요구된다 따라서 본 고에서는 삼치 시퀀스의 비 이상적인 선형 자기상관함수를 개선시키기 위해 주파수 영역에서 역 필터링과 쓰레쉬홀딩 연산을 결합한 방법과 특이치분해(SVD)방법을 제안하며 잡음이 있는 상황에서 그 성능을 평가하고자 한다. 제안한 방법은 시뮬레이션 결과 역 필터링 방법은 신호대잡음비가 30㏈인 경우 최대 부엽 레벨이 11㏈ 감소했고 SVD 방법도 유사한 결과를 보였으나 잡음에 좀 더 약하며 특이치 값의 세밀한 조정이 필요하였다.

Adaptive Group Loading and Weighted Loading for MIMO OFDM Systems

  • Adaptive Bit Loading (ABL) in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) is often used to achieve the desired Bit Error Rate (BER) performance in wireless systems. In this paper, we discuss some of the bit loading algorithms, compare them in terms of the BER performance, and present an effective and concise Adaptive Grouped Loading (AGL) algorithm. Furthermore, we propose a "weight factor" for loading algorithm to converge rapidly to the final solution for various data rate with variable Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) gaps. In particular, we consider the bit loading in near optimal Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) based MIMO-OFDM system. While using SVD based system, the system requires perfect Channel State Information (CSI) of channel transfer function at the transmitter. This scenario of SVD based system is taken as an ideal case for the comparison of loading algorithms and to show the actual enhancement achievable by our AGL algorithm. Irrespective of the CSI requirement imposed by the mode of the system itself, ABL demands high level of feedback. Grouped Loading (GL) would reduce the feedback requirement depending upon the group size. However, this also leads to considerable degradation in BER performance. In our AGL algorithm, groups are formed with a number of consecutive sub-channels belonging to the same transmit antenna, with individual gains satisfying predefined criteria. Simulation results show that the proposed "weight factor" leads a loading algorithm to rapid convergence for various data rates with variable SNR gap values and AGL requires much lesser CSI compared to GL for the same BER performance.

통계적 방법을 이용한 동남아시아지역 위성 대기오염물질 분석과 검증 (Analysis of Characteristics of Satellite-derived Air Pollutant over Southeast Asia and Evaluation of Tropospheric Ozone using Statistical Methods)

  • The statistical tools such as empirical orthogonal function (EOF), and singular value decomposition (SVD) have been applied to analyze the characteristic of air pollutant over southeast Asia as well as to evaluate Zimeke's tropospheric column ozone (ZTO) determined by tropospheric residual method. In this study, we found that the EOF and SVD analyses are useful methods to extract the most significant temporal and spatial pattern from enormous amounts of satellite data. The EOF analyses with OMI $NO_2$ and OMI HCHO over southeast Asia revealed that the spatial pattern showed high correlation with fire count (r=0.8) and the EOF analysis of CO (r=0.7). This suggests that biomass burning influences a major seasonal variability on $NO_2$ and HCHO over this region. The EOF analysis of ZTO has indicated that the location of maximum ZTO was considerably shifted westward from the location of maximum of fire count and maximum month of ZTO occurred a month later than maximum month (March) of $NO_2$, HCHO and CO. For further analyses, we have performed the SVD analyses between ZTO and ozone precursor to examine their correlation and to check temporal and spatial consistency between two variables. The spatial pattern of ZTO showed latitudinal gradient that could result from latitudinal gradient of stratospheric ozone and temporal maximum of ZTO in March appears to be associated with stratospheric ozone variability that shows maximum in March. These results suggest that there are some sources of error in the tropospheric residual method associated with cloud height error, low efficiency of tropospheric ozone, and low accuracy in lower stratospheric ozone.

다변량 스트림 데이터 축소 기법 평가 (Evaluation of Multivariate Stream Data Reduction Techniques)

  • 센서 네트워크는 애플리케이션 분야에 따라 데이터 특성과 사용자의 요구사항이 다양함에도 불구하고, 현존하는 스트림 데이터 축소 연구는 데이터의 본질적인 특징보다 특정 축소 기법의 성능 향상 측면에 중점을 두고 있다. 이 논문은 계층/분산형 센서 네트워크 구조와 데이터 모델을 소개하고, 선택적으로 축소 기법을 적용하기 위해 데이터 특성과 사용자의 요구에 적합한 다변량 데이터 축소 기법을 비교 평가한다. 다변량 데이터 축소 기법의 성능을 비교 분석하기 위해, 우리는 웨이블릿, HCL(Hierarchical Clustering), SVD(Singular Value Decomposition), 샘플링과 같은 표준화 된 다변량 축소 기법을 이용한다. 실험 데이터는 다차원 시계열 데이터와 로봇 센서 데이터를 사용한다. 실험 결과 SVD와 샘플링 기법이 상대 에러 비율과 수행 성능 측면에서 웨이블릿과 HCL기법에 비해 우수하였다. 특히 각 데이터 축소 기법의 상대 에러 비율은 입력 데이터 특성에 따라 다르기 때문에 선택적으로 데이터 축소 기법을 적용하는 것이 좋은 성능을 보였다. 이 논문은 다차원 센서 데이터가 수집되는 센서 네트워크를 디자인하고 구축하는 응용 분야에 유용하게 활용될 것이다.

  • Combined with the indeterminate boundaries of spatial objects, n:m correspondences makes an object-based matching be a complex problem. In this study, we model the boundary of a polygon object with fuzzy model and describe their overlapping relations as a weighted bipartite graph. Then corresponding pairs including 1:0, 1:1, 1:n and n:m relations are identified using a spectral singular value decomposition.

  • Positron emission tomography (PET) is widely used imaging modality for effective and accurate functional testing and medical diagnosis using radioactive isotopes. However, PET has difficulties in acquiring images with high image quality due to constraints such as the amount of radioactive isotopes injected into the patient, the detection time, the characteristics of the detector, and the patient's motion. In order to overcome this problem, we have succeeded to improve the image quality by using the dynamic image reconstruction method based on singular value decomposition. However, there is still some question about the characteristics of the proposed technique. In this study, the characteristics of reconstruction method based on singular value decomposition was estimated over computational simulation. As a result, we confirmed that the singular value decomposition based reconstruction technique distinguishes the images well when the signal - to - noise ratio of the input image is more than 20 decibels and the feature vector angle is more than 60 degrees. In addition, the proposed methode to estimate the characteristics of reconstruction technique can be applied to other spatio-temporal feature based dynamic image reconstruction techniques. The deduced conclusion of this study can be useful guideline to apply medical image into SVD based dynamic image reconstruction technique to improve the accuracy of medical diagnosis.

카메라 폰 상에서 사용자 인증을 위한 디지털 워터마킹 기법 (Digital Watermarking Method for User's Certification of Camera-Phone)

  • 교통 사고, 화재, 범죄 등이 발생했을 때, 누구든지 사진을 찍을 수 있고, 그 사진이 증거로 사용될 수 있다. 디지털 워터마킹은 특정 카메라 폰에서 찍은 사진이 인증될 수 있도록 보증할 수 있게 해준다. 본 논문에서는 카메라 폰에 적합한 디지털 워터마킹 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 특정치 분해와 웨이블릿 분해를 기반으로 한다. 실험 결과는 제안된 방법이 JPEG 압축에 대해 보안성과 강인성이 좋음을 보여준다.

Time-Varying Multipath Channel Estimation with Superimposed Training in CP-OFDM Systems

  • Based on superimposed training methods, a novel time-varying multipath channel estimation scheme is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems. We first develop a linear least square channel estimator, and meanwhile find the optimal superimposed sequences with respect to the channel estimates' mean square error. Next, a low-rank approximated channel estimator is obtained by using the singular value decomposition. As demonstrated in simulations, the proposed scheme achieves not only better performance but also higher bandwidth efficiency than the conventional pilot-aided approach.

Video Sequence Matching Using Normalized Dominant Singular Values

  • This paper proposes a signature using dominant singular values for video sequence matching. By considering the input image as matrix A, a partition procedure is first performed to separate the matrix into non-overlapping sub-images of a fixed size. The SVD(Singular Value Decomposition) process decomposes matrix A into a singular value-singular vector factorization. As a result, singular values are obtained for each sub-image, then k dominant singular values which are sufficient to discriminate between different images and are robust to image size variation, are chosen and normalized as the signature for each block in an image frame for matching between the reference video clip and the query one. Experimental results show that the proposed video signature has a better performance than ordinal signature in ROC curve.

  • This paper charcterizes dynamics of cold tandem minns, and constructs it state-space model of which are linear time invariant, using subspace method. Step responses particularly show the influence on mass transfer delay. Input-output data set are obtained form nonlinear differential equations including mass transfer delay and nonlinearity. It is shown that the identified state-apace model well approximates the original systems dynamics.
