Preparation and Characterization of New NiO-ZrO2/WO3 Catalyst for Ethylene Dimerization (에틸렌 이량화를 위한 새로운 NiO-ZrO2/WO3촉매의 제조와 특성)

  • A series of catalysts, $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$, for ethylene dimerization were prepared by coprecipitation from a solution of nickel chloride - zirconium oxychloride mixture followed by dry impregnation with an aqueous solution of ammonium metatungstate and calcination in air. On the basis of the results obtained from x-ray diffraction and DSC, the addition of NiO and $WO_3$ to $ZrO_2$ shifted the transition of $ZrO_2$ from amorphous to a tetragonal phase toward higher temperatures due to the interaction between NiO(or $WO_3$) and $ZrO_2$. $NiO-ZrO_2$ without $WO_3$ was inactive for the ethylene dimerization, but $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$ was found to be very active even at room temperature. The high catalytic activity of $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$ was closely correlated with the increase of acid strength by the inductive effect of $WO_3$.

  • The effect of $ZrO_2$ dispersed phase on the mechanical properties in $Al_2O_3$-$ZrO_2$system has been studied. There are both metastable tetragonal phase and stable monoclinic phase of $ZrO_2$particles diespersed in Al2O3 matrix at room temperature. Metastable tetragonal $ZrO_2$ changes to the stable monoclinic structure within the stress field of the crack. And microcracks are formed by the expansion of $ZrO_2$during the tetragonal-monoclinic transformation on cooling. Therefore stress-induced phase transformation and inclusion-induced microcracking contribute to the mec-hanical properties of $Al_2O_3$-$ZrO_2$system. Sintered composites containing 10m/o $ZrO_2$ yield KiC values of 6.5MN/$m^{3/2}$ much greater than that of pure $Al_2O_3$ This increase results from microcrack extension and stress-induced phase transformation absor-bing energy by crack propagation. Flexural strength of composites is decreased considerably in comparison with pure $Al_2O_3$ This decrease results from microcrack as a crack former and higher porosity than pure $Al_2O_3$.

Microstructural Development During Microwave Sintering of CaO-$ZrO_2$-$SiO_2$Glass (마이크로파 소결에 의한 CaO-$ZrO_2$-$SiO_2$계 결정화 유리의 미세구조)

  • 타일의 내마모성과 내산성을 향상시키기 위해 결정화유리가 최근에 새로운 유약 재료로서 소개되고 있다. 신 유약의 연구에 사용된 조성은 $Ca_2$ZrSi$_4$O$_{12}$ 상에 근접하는 CaO-ZrO$_2$-SiO$_2$계의 유리조성의 분말로, 마이크로파 가열 (2.45 GHz)에 의해서 900-120$0^{\circ}C$의 0-20분간 소성되어 평가되었다. 그 결과, 100$0^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 소성한 시편은 내부 결정화를 나타내었으며, 결정상은 미세(5$mu extrm{m}$)한 크기를 갖는 $Ca_2$ZrSi$_4$O$_{12}$가 주 결정상이며, $Ca_2$ZrSi$_4$O$_{12}$, CaSiO$_3$, SiO$_2$의 세 상이 나타났다. 소결체의 미세구조는 사용한 유리분말의 입도의 영향을 받았다. 미세분말 (<38$\mu\textrm{m}$)을 이용한 소결체의 조직이 조세분말 (45-150$\mu\textrm{m}$)의 경우보다 수축율면에서 높았으며 낮은 기공도를 갖는 미세구조를 가졌다. 마이크로파에 의한 유리분말의 소성은 1000-120$0^{\circ}C$ 구간에서 10분 이내 결정화가 완료되는 급속 가열 공정이었으며 CaO-ZrO$_2$-SiO$_2$계 결정화 유리 제조에 균일한 체적가열을 할 수 있었다.

Structural and Electrical Properties of ZrO2 Films Coated onto PET for High-Energy-Density Capacitors

  • Flexible $ZrO_2$ films as dielectric materials for high-energy-density capacitors were deposited on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. The growth behavior, microstructure and electrical properties of the flexible $ZrO_2$ films were dependent on the sputtering pressure and gas ratio. Although $ZrO_2$ films were deposited at room temperature, all films showed a tetragonal crystalline structure regardless of the sputtering variables. The surface of the film became a surface with large white particles upon an increase in the $O_2/Ar$ gas ratio. The RMS roughness and crystallite size of the $ZrO_2$ films increased with an increase in the sputtering pressure. The electrical properties of the $ZrO_2$ films were affected by the microstructure and roughness. The $ZrO_2$ films exhibited a dielectric constant of 21~38 at 1 kHz and a leakage current density of $10^{-6}{\sim}10^{-5}A/cm^2$ at 300 kV/cm.

  • The reaction product between Si3N4 and ZrO2 has been studied by heat treatment of Si3N4-Zr(Y)O2 composite in high vacuum(<10-5 torr) and in air at $700^{\circ}C$. ZrN was formed after heat treatment in vacuum and easily oxidized after heat treatment in air. The amount of ZrN is related to the Y2O3 content dissolved in ZrO2. After the heat treatment in air the toughness increased and the spalling due to the oxidation of ZrN in specimen surface was observed. As a result, it is suggested that the formation of ZrN phase in Si3N4-ZrO2 composite enhance the toughness of the composite in an oxidation conditon.

Influence of Addition Amount of CaCO3on the Synthesizing behavior and Microstructural Evolution of CaZrO3 and m-ZrO2 in 5ZrSiO4-xCaCO3 Mixture System (5ZrSiO4-xCaCO3 혼합계에서 CaCO3첨가량이 CaZrO3와 m-ZrO2의 합성 및 미세구조변화에 미치는 영향)

  • Synthesizing behavior and microstructural evolution of $CaZrO_3$and $m-ZrO_2$in a thermal reaction process of $ZrSiO_4$-$xCaCO_3$mixtures, where x is 7 and 19, were investigated to determine the addition amount of CaO in CaO:$ZrO_2$:$SiO_2$ternary composition. CaZrO$_3$-Ca$_2$SiO$_4$precursor prepared by the mixture of $ZrSiO_4$and CaCO$_3$in aqueous suspending media was controlled to the acidic (pH=4.0) condition with HCI solution to enhance the thermal reaction. The addition amount of dispersant into the $ZrSiO_4$-$xCaCO_3$slip increased with increasing mole ratio of $CaCO_3$, which was associated with the viscosity of slip. Decarbonation reaction was activated with an increase of the addition amount of $CaCO_3$, showing different final temperatures in $ZrSiO_4$-$7CaCO_3$and $ZrSiO_4$-$19CaCO_3$mixtures as about 980 and 116$0^{\circ}C$, respectively, for finishing decarbonation reaction. The grain morphology was changed to spherical shape for all samples with an increase of sintering temperature. The grain size and phase composition of the synthesized composites depended on the mixture ratio of Zrsi04 and CacO3 powders, indicating that the main crystals were m-ZrO2 ($\leq$3 $\mu\textrm{m}$) and $CaZrO_3$ ($\leq$ 7 $\mu\textrm{m}$) in $ZrSiO_4$$>-7CaCO_3$and $ZrSiO_4$-$19CaCO_3$mixtures, respectively.

  • In this study, we investigated $Li_2ZrO_3$ membrane as a candidate material for high-temperature $CO_2$ separation and evaluated mechanical property. $Li_2ZrO_3$ powder was synthesized by solid state reaction of $Li_2CO_3\;and\;ZrO_2$. Then we fabricated $Li_2ZrO_3$ tape using tape casting method. Dense $Li_2ZrO_3$ membrane prepared by sintering at $1600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h after pressing $Li_2ZrO_3$ tape using lamination machine. Mechanical properties before and after $CO_2$ absorption of fabricated $Li_2ZrO_3$ membrane such as Hertzian indentation, Victors hardness and 3-point bending testing were evaluated.

Synthesis of Zirconium Oxide Nanoballs Using Colloid-Imprinted Carbon and Their Electrical Properties

  • Uniform ZrO2 nanoballs were synthesized at 700℃ using the inverse replication method through a colloid-imprinted carbon (CIC) template. The structural, dielectric, and conducting properties of the ZrO2 nanoballs were investigated and compared with those of ZrO2 film prepared by sol-gel method and powdered ZrO2 chemical. Both the monoclinic and cubic phases were found in the ZrO2 balls and film but the ZrO2 chemical showed a monoclinic phase, where the cubic structure is known to be formed at above 2,300℃. ZrO2 nanoballs showed the lower dielectric property of k = 21.2 at 1 MHz because the 8-coordinated cubic phase in the ZrO2 nanoball produced lower polarization than the polarization of the 7-coordinated monoclinic ZrO2 chemical (k = 23.6). The dielectric stability was maintained in each ZrO2 ball, film, and chemical under the applied forward and reverse voltage range (−5 to +5 V) at 1 MHz. The ionic conductivities were 7.86 × 10−8/Ω·cm for ZrO2 nanoballs, 3.29 × 10−8/Ω·cm for ZrO2 chemical, and 6.70 × 10−5/Ω·cm for the thickness of 1,053 nm ZrO2 film at room temperature with the electronic contribution being less than 0.006%.

용액 공정을 통한 HfO2/ZrO2 구조 차이에 따른 Dielectric layer의 특성 변화 분석

  • 본 연구에서는 $HfO_2$$ZrO_2$의 구조적 차이를 통한 Dielectric layer의 특성 변화에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. $HfO_2$$ZrO_2$ layer는 용액 공정을 통해 만들고, 용액의 농도는 0.2 M로 제작하여 Spin Coating으로 소자를 제작하였다. 각 소자들의 구조적인 차이를 위해 $HfO_2$/$HfO_2$, $ZrO_2$/$HfO_2$, $HfO_2$/$ZrO_2$, $ZrO_2$/$ZrO_2$ 층 순서로 제작되었다. 각 소자들의 Capacitance 값은 245.72, 259.81, 294.23, $312.12nF/cm^2$으로 측정 되었고, Leakage current 값은 1.01, 1.79, 0.09, $0.0910-1A/cm^2$으로 다소 높은 값으로 확인되었다. 또한 dielectric constant, k 값이 16.6, 17.6, 19.9, 21.2로 각각의 측정값들 모두 substrate쪽의 dielectric layer에 따라 비슷한 특성을 갖게 되는 것을 확인했다. 이를 통해 Electrode 쪽의 layer보다 Substrate 쪽의 layer의 영향이 더 큰 것을 알 수 있다.

Joining Behavior of YSZ Ceramics to Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2-R2O and Al2O2-ZrO2-SiO2-La2O3-R2O Glass Systems (Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2-R2O와 Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2-La2O3-R2O계 유리와 부분안정화 지르코니아간의 접합거동)

  • The joining behavior of YSZ ceramics to the glasses used in the $9Al_2O_3-24ZrO_2-51SiO_2-16R_2O$ and $9Al_2O_3-24ZrO_2-51SiO_2-7La_2O_3-9R_2O$ (wt%) glass systems was investigated. The glass transition and softening temperatures were determined to be $430^{\circ}C$ and $760^{\circ}C$, respectively. The behavior of the contact angle was inversely proportional to an increase in the temperature. The Zr element in YSZ acted as a nucleation agent and contributed to the bonding behavior at the interface.
