The ultrasonic test is recognized for its significance as a non-destructive testing method to detect volume defects such as porosity and incomplete penetration which reduce strength in the weld zone. This paper illustrates the defect detection in the weld zone of ferritic carbon steel using ultrasonic wave and the evaluation of pattern recognition by chaotic feature extraction using time series signal of detected defects as data. Shown in the time series data were that the time delay was 4 and the embedding dimension was 6 which indicate the geometric dimension of the subject system and the extent of information correlation. Based on fractal dimension and lyapunov exponent in quantitative chaotic feature extraction, feature value of 2.15, 0.47 is presented for porosity and 2.24, 0.51 for incomplete penetration The precision rate of the pattern recognition is enhanced with these values on the total waveform of defect signal in the weld zone. Therefore, we think that the ultrasonic pattern recognition method of weld zone defects of ferritic carbon steel by ultrasonic-chaotic feature extraction proposed in this paper can boost precision rate further than the existing method applying only partial waveform.
This paper describes the development of a new islanding detection method for inverter-based distributed generation systems, which uses a signal cross-correlation scheme between the injected reactive current and the power frequency deviation. The proposed method injects 1% of the reactive current to the rated current which brings about a negligible degradation of the power quality. It discriminates the islanding state, when the calculated cross-correlation index is larger than 0.5. The operational feasibility was verified through computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software and experimental research with a hardware prototype. The proposed method can detect the islanding state without degrading the power quality at the point of common connection. Further study is required to overcome the cancellation of the injected reactive current from multiple distributed generation units interconnected with the utility grid.

This paper presents a comparative analysis on three different types of performance indices of obstacle detection for an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring. Due to beam overlap, the entire sensing zone of each ultrasonic sensor can be divided into three smaller sensing subzones, which leads to significant reduction of positional uncertainty in obstacle detection. First, the positional uncertainty in obstacle detection is expressed in terms of the area of a sensing subzone, and type 1 performance index is then defined as the area ratio of side and center sensing subzones. Second, based on the area of a sensing subzone, type 2 performance index is defined taking into account the size of the entire range of obstacle detection as well as the degree of the positional uncertainty in obstacle detection. Third, the positional uncertainty in obstacle detection is now expressed in terms of the length of the uncertainty arc spanning a sensing subzone, and type 3 performance index is then defined as the average value of the uncertainty arc lengths over the entire range of obstacle detection. Fourth, using a commercial low directivity ultrasonic sensor, the changes of three different performance indices depending on the parameter of an overlapped ultrasonic sensor ring are examined and compared.
The high speed line and conventional line are a single-phase AC feeding system; and power supplies of different phases meet at SS(SubStation)s or SP(Sectioning Post)s. These sections should be negotiated with the main circuit breaker in the traction vehicle switched off, whereby the length of the neutral zone prevents the pantographs shunting adjacent overhead line section. In order for electric railway vehicles to make power running there, there must be a power supply changeover section (approx. for 1km), where a changeover switch changes a power supply to the other power supply of a train running direction sequentially. For a thorough changeover switching control, the precise train position detection is necessarily required. In this paper, to realize the ground-based train position detection method, configuration scheme of train position detection equipment is suggested by using track circuit and axle counter.

A traffic detection system is a device that collects traffic information around an intersection. Most existing traffic detection systems provide very limited traffic information for signal control due to the restriction of vehicle detection area. A signal control scheme determines the transition among signal phases and the time that a phase lasts for. However, the existing signal control scheme do not resolve the traffic congestion effectively since they use restricted traffic information. In this paper, a new traffic detection system with a zone division signal control scheme is proposed to provide correct and detail traffic information and decrease the vehicle's waiting time at the intersection. The traffic detection system obtains traffic information in a way of vehicle-to-roadside communication between vehicles and sensor network. A new signal control scheme is built to exploit the sufficient traffic information provided by the proposed traffic detection system efficiently. Simulation results show that the proposed signal control scheme has 121 % and 56 % lower waiting time and delay time of vehicles at an intersection than other fuzzy signal control scheme.
Preliminary results are reported on ship detection using coherence images computed from cross-correlating images of multi-look-processed dual-polarization data (HH and HV) of ENVISAT ASAR. The traditional techniques of ship detection by radars such as CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) rely on the amplitude data, and therefore the detection tends to become difficult when the amplitudes of ships images are at similar level as the mean amplitude of surrounding sea clutter. The proposed method utilizes the property that the multi-look images of ships are correlated with each other. Because the inter-look images of sea surface are covered by uncorrelated speckle, cross-correlation of multi-look images yields the different degrees of coherence between the images and water. In this paper, the polarimetric information of ships, land and intertidal zone are first compared based on the cross-correlation between HH and HV images, In the next step, we examine the technique when the dual-polarization data are split into two multi-look images, It was shown that the inter-look cross-correlation method could be applicable in the performance improvement of small ship detection and the land masking, It was also found that a simple combination of coherence images from each co-polarised (HH) inter-look and cross-polarised (HV) inter-look data can provide much higher target-detection possibilities.
In this paper, we propose AnoVid, an automated video annotation tool based on deep neural networks, that automatically generates various meta data for each scene or shot in a long drama video containing rich elements. To this end, a novel meta data schema for drama video is designed. Based on this schema, the AnoVid video annotation tool has a total of six deep neural network models for object detection, place recognition, time zone recognition, person recognition, activity detection, and description generation. Using these models, the AnoVid can generate rich video annotation data. In addition, AnoVid provides not only the ability to automatically generate a JSON-type video annotation data file, but also provides various visualization facilities to check the video content analysis results. Through experiments using a real drama video, "Misaeing", we show the practical effectiveness and performance of the proposed video annotation tool, AnoVid.

This paper proposes a new islanding detection method for a grid-connected photovoltaic system. It is based on the fact that the equivalent harmonic components vary according to the grid connection status. The advantage of the proposed method is the reduced Non-Detection Zone and fast detection time. Also it can have the robust detection capability against grid disturbances. The theoretic analysis using grid-harmonic modeling is performed and verified by test result using 32-bit high performance DSP processor.

The importance of soundness and safety evaluation in weld zone using by the ultrasonic wave has been recently increased rapidly because of the collapses of huge structures and safety accidents. Especially, the ultrasonic method that has been often used for a major non-destructive testing(NDT) technique in many engineering fields plays an important role as a volume test method. Hence, the defecting any defects of weld Bone in austenitic stainless steel type 304 using by ultrasonic wave and neural network is explored in this paper. In order to detect defects, a distance amplitude curve on standard scan sensitivity and preliminary scan sensitivity represented of the relation between ultrasonic probe, instrument, and materials was drawn based on a quantitative standard. Also, a total of 93% of defect types by testing 30 defect patterns after organizing neural network system, which is learned with an accuracy of 99%, based on ultrasonic evaluation is distinguished in order to classify defects such as holes or notches in experimental results. Thus, the proposed ultrasonic wave and neural network is useful for defect detection and Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Evaluation(UNDE) of weld zone in austenitic stainless steel 304.
As the threat of Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks that exploit weakly secure IoT devices has spread, research on source-side Denial-of-Service attack detection is being activated to quickly detect the attack and the location of attacker. In addition, a collaborative source-side attack detection technique that shares detection results of source-side networks located at individual sites is also being activated to overcome regional limitations of source-side detection. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a collaborative source-side DDoS attack detection using statistical weights. The statistical weight is calculated based on the detection rate and false positive rate corresponding to the time zone of the individual source-side network. By calculating weighted sum of the source-side DoS attack detection results from various sites, the proposed method determines whether a DDoS attack happens. As a result of the experiment based on actual DNS request to traffic, it was confirmed that the proposed technique reduces false positive rate 2% while maintaining a high attack detection rate.
