Low Temperature Synthesis of Willemite Powder (Willemite 분말의 저온합성)

  • Willemite ($Zn_2SiO_4$) are a wide range of applications such as a phosphor host and an important crystalline phase in glass ceramics, electrical insulators, glazes, and pigments. In this study, Willemite precursors were synthesized with zinc silicate gels from mixture of zinc nitrate solution and various sodium silicate solution by the geopolymer technique. To examine the crystallization behavior, precursors were have been monitored by the XRD. A pure willemite phase was obtained at $900^{\circ}C$. TEM investigations revealed that the sample with 50 nm particle size was obtained via heat-treated at $900^{\circ}C$ for W-3.

  • Mg-Si-O계 세라믹스에 glass frit 조성을 첨가하여 저온에서의 소결 특성 및 마이크로파 유전 특성을 연구하였다. 기존의 Mg-Si-O계 세라믹스는 우수한 유전특성을 가지고 있으나 높은 소결온도로 인하여 LTCC용 기판 소재로 적용이 어려웠다. 본 연구에서는 MgO, $SiO_2$를 이용하여 $Mg_2SiO_4$을 합성한 후, $B_2O_3-ZnO-Na_2O-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$계 glass 조성을 20~40wt%로 첨가하여 소결온도를 감소시켜 LTCC 기판 소재로서의 적용성을 고찰하였다. glass frit 함량이 증가함에 따라 밀도($g/cm^3$) 및 유전율(${\varepsilon}_r$)은 증가하였고 품질계수($Qxf_0$)값은 감소하였다. glass frit 함량이 40wt%일때 $900^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 소결한 소결체의 유전톡성은 유전율 (${\varepsilon}_4$) = 6.5. 품질계수 ($Qxf_0$) = 4,000(GHz), 온도계수 $(\tau_t)\;=\;{\pm}\;10ppm/^{\circ}C$로 우수한 특성을 확인하였다.

Design and Fabrication of Thin Microwave Absorbers of ITO/Dielectric Structures Used for Mobile Telecommunication Frequency Bands (ITO박막/세라믹유전체 구조의 이동통신 주파수대역용 박형 전파흡수체의 설계 및 제조)

  • For the aim of thin microwave absorbers used in mobile telecommunication frequency band, this study proposed a high permittivity dielectrics(λ/4 spacer) coated with ITO thin films of 377 $\Omega$/sq(impedance transformer). High frequency dielectric properties of ferroelectric ceramics, electrical properties of ITO thin films and microwave absorbing properties of ITO/dielectrics were investigated. Ferroelectric materials including $BaTiO_3$(BT), 0.9Pb($Mg_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)$O_3$-0.1 $PbTiO_3$(PMN-PT), 0.8 Pb (Mg$_{1}$3/$Nb_{2}$3/)$O_3$-0.2 Pb($Zn_{1}$3$_Nb{2}$3/)$O_3$(PMN-PZN) were prepared by ceramic processing for high permittivity dielectrics,. The ferroelectric materials show high dielectric constant and dielectric loss in the microwave frequency range. The microwave absorbance (at 2 ㎓) of BT, 0.9PMN-0.1PT, and 0.8PMN-0.2PZN were found to be 60%(at a thickness of 3.5 mm), 20% (2.5 mm), and 30% (2.5 mm), respectively. By coating the ITO thin films on the ferroelectric substrates with λ/4 thickness, the microwave absorbance is greatly improved. Particularly, when the surface resistance of ITO films is closed of 377 $\Omega$/sq, the reflection loss is reduced to -20 ㏈(99% absorbance). This is attributed to the wave impedance matching controlled by ITO thin films at a given thickness of high permittivity dielectrics of λ/4 (3.5 mm for BT, 2.5 mm for PMN-PT and PMN-PZN at 2 ㎓). It is, therefore, successfully proposed that the ITO/ferroelectric materials with controlled surface resistance and high dielectric constant can be useful as a thin microwave absorbers in mobile telecommunication frequency band.

Piezoelectric and Dielectric Characteristics of Low Temperature Sintering PMS-PNN-PZT Ceramics According to the Amount of PNN Substitution (PNN 치환에 따른 저온소결 PMS-PMN-PZT계 세라믹스의 압전 및 유전특성)

  • 압전 액츄에이터 및 초음파진동자의 응용범위가 넒어짐에 따라 변위량, 응력 등을 개선시키기 위해 전기기계결합계수 kp 및 압전 d상수가 종전보다 큰 재료가 요구되고 있으며, 초음파진동자나 압전 모터와 같이 마찰에 의한 열손실이 많이 발생하는 액츄에이터에 적용할 큰 기계적품질계수롤 가지는 저손실 압전 액츄에이터 및 초음파진동자용 재료가 필요한 실정이다. PZT계 세라믹스는 높은 유전상수와 압전특성으로 전자세라믹스분야에서 가장 널리 사용되어지고 있지만, $1200^{\circ}C$이상의 높은 소결온도 때문에 $1000^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 급격히 휘발되는 PbO로 인한 환경오염과 기본조성의 변화로 인한 압전특성의 저하가 문제시 되고 있다. $Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$는 약 $-120^{\circ}C$정도의 큐리온도룰 가지는 강유전체로 Pb(Zr, Ti)$O_3$계 세라믹스에 치환 시 유전상수와 전기기계결합계수를 개선시키는 대표적인 성분이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 저온소결 저손실의 적층형 압전 액츄에이터를 개발하기 위해 PMS-PMN-PZT계 세라믹스에 $Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ 세라믹스를 치환하고 $Li_2CO_3$$Na_2CO_3$ ZnO를 소결조재로 사용하여 저온소결 하였으며 PNN 치환량에 따른 결과를 관찰 하였다.

A temperature stable bandpass filter using dieletric-filled stepped impedance resonators (접합된 Stepped impedance resonator를 이용한 온도보상형 유전체 대역통과 필터)

  • The design method of a temperature stable bandpass filter using dielectric coaxial resonators of with two dielectric ceramics with opposite signs of temperature coefficient of dielectric constant (${\tau}_{\epsilon}$) to compensate for each other in this method. $MgTiO_3$(${\tau}_{\epsilon}$=+99 ppm/${\circ}C$) as a positive ${\tau}_{\epsilon}$ material and Ba($Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$(${\tau}_{\epsilon}$=-77ppm/${\circ}C$) as a negative material were selected. The length of a SIR for the temperature stability was calculated according to the design method and the susceptance slope parameter of the SIR was obtained. A temperature stable bandpass filter using dielectric SIR's was designed, simulated and fabricated. The center frequency of this filter was 915 MHz and the pass bandwidth was 20 MHz. Temperature properties of this bandpass filter by simulations were compared with the measured results of the bandpass filter fabricated.

  • $Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ (PZT) is a piezoelectric material applied in a typical actuator and has been actively studied. However, in order to overcome the limitations of PZT, piezoelectric ceramics comprising mixed solid solutions of PZT with various relaxer electric materials have been studied. The $Pb(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})-Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})-Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ (PZN-PNN-PZT) piezoelectric ceramic, known to have high piezoelectric constant and electromechanical coupling coefficient, was studied herein. The piezoelectric characteristics with various Zr contents (Zr/Ti ratios), PZN molar ratios, and sintering temperatures were compared. The piezoelectric properties of $d_{33}=580pC/N$ and $k_P=0.68$ were obtained with the $0.1PZN-0.2PNN-0.7PbZr_{0.46}Ti_{0.54}O_3$ composition sintered at $1,290^{\circ}C$.

Body Composition and Firing Temperature of Ancient Pottery Excavated in Chonnam Province (전남지역에서 출토된 고대 도자기의 태토조성과 소성온도)

  • The chamical and physical properties of the fragments of an ancient pottery such as earthenware, gliazed pottery and celadon excavated in Chonnam province has been investigated by X-ray diffraction inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy(ICP), thermal mechanical analysis(TMA). Glazed pottery fragments of Chonnam province are cotaining Fe2O3 $4\~7\%$ by the analyis of ICP, firing temperature range was presumed to $1100-1150^{\circ}C$ by TMA. Celadon fragments of Chonnam province are containing Fe2O3 $2\~3\%$ by the analyis of ICP, firing temperature range was presumed to $1140\~1200^{\circ}C$ by TMA. The charateristics in the trace element composition of an ancient pottery of Chonnam provinceis are similar, it is an reflection of similar geological charateristics. The charateristic elements of Chonnam provincical ancient pottery were Rb, Sr, V, Zr, Y, Nd, Sc, La, Ce, Nb, Sm, Eu, Dy and Yb of the analyzed 21 trace elements. By Fe2O3-Zn ditribution diagram, potteries excavated in Yong-am, celadons excavated in Haenam, Kangjin, Buan and glazed pottery excavated in Hae-nam are grouped into the same class.
