The complexation of N,N'-oxalylbis(salicylaldehyde hydrazone) (OBSH) with Zn (II), Cd (II), and Pb(II) ions was studied by polarographic method in DMSO solution. The order of stability constants was Cd(II) < Zn(II) < pb(II), and all heavy metal ions formed stable complex with OBSH ligand. The stability constants of complexation were measured at various temperatures. As the results, enthalpy and entropy changes of the complexation were distributed on the complex stabilities.

Nano-sized ZnO particles were successfully synthesized at low temperatures by a polymerized complex method via an organochemical route. The polymeric precursors could be prepared using Zn nitrate hexahydrate and a mixed solution of citric acid and ethylene glycol as a chelating agent and a reaction medium. The polymeric precursors were calcined at temperatures from 300 to $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 h, and evaluated for degree of crystallization process, thermal decomposition, surface morphology and crystallite size. The thermal decomposition and crystallization process were analyzed by TG-DTA, FI-IR and XRD. The morphology and crystallite size of the calcined particles were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmittance electron microscopy (TEM) and Scherrer's equation. Crystallization of the ZnO particles was detected at $300^{\circ}C$ and entirely completed above $400^{\circ}C$. Particles calcined between 400 and $700^{\circ}C$ showed a uniform size distribution with a round shape. The average particle sizes calcined at $400^{\circ}C$ for 3 hour were 30~40nm showing an ordinary tendency to increase with the temperatures.
ZnWO$_4$ nano-powders were successfully prepared by polymerized complex method using zinc nitrate and tungstic acid as starting materials. In order to investigate the thermal decomposition and crystallization process, the polymeric precursors were heat-treated at temperatures from 300 to 600$^{\circ}$C for 3 h, and the heat-treated powders were characterized by XRD and FTIR. The surface morphology of the heat-treated powders were observed using SEM and TEM. The crystallite size was measured by X-ray analysis. Crystallization of the ZnWO$_4$ powders were detected at 400$^{\circ}$C and entirely completed at a temperature of 600$^{\circ}$C. The particles heat-treated 400 and 500$^{\circ}$C showed primarily co-mixed morphology with spherical and silkworm-like forms, while the particles heat-treated at 600$^{\circ}$C showed more homogeneous morphology. The average crystalline size were 19.9∼24.nm showing an ordinary tendency to increase with the temperatures from 400 to 600$^{\circ}$C.
The elution mechanism of rare earth elements in cation exchange resin which was substituted with $NH_4^+,\;Zn^{2+}\;or\;Al^{3+}$ as a retaining ion had been investigated. Rare earths or rare earths-EDTA complex solution was loaded on the top of resin bed and eluted with 0.0269M EDTA solution. When the rare earth-EDTA complex was adsorbed on the $Zn^{2+}\;or\;Al^{3+}$ resin form, retaining ion was complexed with EDTA and liberated rare earths was adsorbed in the resin again. Adsorbed rare earths in resin phase could be eluted by the complexation reaction with EDTA eluent. On $NH_4^+$ resin form, the rare earth-EDTA complex which had negative charge could not adsorbed on the cation exchange resin because the complexation reaction between $NH_4^+$ and EDTA was impossible. So the elution time was much shorter than in $Zn^{2+}\;or\;Al^{3+}$ resin form. When the rare earths solution was loaded on the $Zn^{2+},\;Al^{3+}$ resin form bed, rare earths was adsorbed in the resin and the retaining ion was liberated. Adsorbed rare earths in resin bed was exchanged by EDTA eluent forming rare earths-EDTA complex, and eluted through these processes. On $NH_4^+$ resin form, rare earths loaded was adsorbed by exchange reaction with $NH_4^+$. As the EDTA eluent was added, rare earths was liberated from resin forming negatively charged rare earth-EDTA complex and eluted without any exchange reaction. So the elution time was greatly shortened and there was no metallic ion except rare earths in effluent. When the $Zn^{2+}\;and\;Al^{3+}$ was used as retaining ion, the pH of efflent was decreased seriousely because the $H^+$ liberated from EDTA molecule.

The complex formation from Zn(II) ion and 2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (Monotris), Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)imino-tris(hydroxymethyl)methane(Bistris) in aqueous solution at $25^{\circ}C$ and at an ionic strength of 0.10 M have been studied potentiometrically. For the Zn(II)-Monotris system, in the Monotris (L) complex $ZnL^{2+}$, one of the hydroxyl oxygen atoms as well as the amine nitrogen of the ligand are coordinated. In basic media, the coordinated hydroxyl group is deprotonated. For the Zn(II)-Bistris system, in the Bistris(L) complex $ZnL^{2+}$, two of the hydroxyl oxygen atoms as well as the amine nitrogen of the ligand are coordinated. In basic media, one of the coordinated hydroxyl groups is deprotonated. In very high basic media, an additional hydroxyl group undergoes deprotonation. The equilibrium constants for the formation of $ZnL^{2+}$, $ZnLH_{-1}{^+}$, $ZnLH_{-2}$, $Zn_2L_2H_{-2}{^{2+}}$ and $Zn_2L_2H_{-3}{^+}$ have been determined.

Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the effects of zinc amino acid complex (ZnAA) on growth performance, hematological and biochemical parameters in weanling pigs. Methods: In Exp. 1, a total of 216 Duroc${\times}$Landrace${\times}$Large White weanling pigs were assigned randomly to 6 dietary treatments. Each treatment had 6 replicates (pens) with 6 pigs each. The diets were corn-soybean meal based with supplementation of 0, 20, 40, 80, 120 mg Zn/kg from ZnAA or 40 mg Zn/kg from feed-grade zinc sulfate. The experiment lasted 42 days. In Exp. 2, a total of 180 weanling pigs were assigned randomly to 3 dietary treatments supplemented with 0, 80, or 800 mg Zn/kg from ZnAA. Results: In Exp. 1, pigs fed 40 to 80 mg Zn/kg from ZnAA had higher (p<0.05) average daily gain (ADG) than the unsupplemented group during d 0 to 14. During d 0 to 42, the pigs fed 20 to 120 mg Zn/kg from ZnAA had increased (p<0.05) ADG. Pigs fed 20 to 120 mg/kg Zn from ZnAA had lower feed:gain (p<0.05), increased the activity of serum Cu-Zn superoxide dismutase on d 14, and increased serum Zn levels on d 42 (p<0.05). In Exp. 2, pigs fed diets with 800 mg Zn/kg had increased average daily feed intake during d 15 to 28 (p<0.05) compared to the unsupplemented group. During d 0 to 28, the pigs fed supplemental Zn had increased ADG (p<0.05). On d 14 and d 28, pigs fed supplemental Zn had higher the serum alkaline phosphatase activities (p<0.05). No significant differences were observed in the hematological parameters and organ indices. Conclusion: Supplementation with 20 to 80 mg/kg Zn from ZnAA improved the growth performance in weaned pigs. The piglets can tolerate up to 800 mg/kg Zn from ZnAA with limited potential health effects.
A $Ba_{2}Co_{2-x}Zn_{x}Fe_{12}O_{22}(x\;=\;0.0~2.0,\;Co_{2-x}Zn_{x}Y)$ powder was prepared by a oxidation--coprecipitation method and sintered at $1150~1250^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. The microstructures and magnetic properties(saturation magnetization, Curie temperature), complex permeability of sintered body were measured As increasing Zn content from x = 0 to 2.0 in $Co_{2-x}Zn_{x}Y$, the real value of complex permeased from 7 GHz to 1 GHz. Because of resonance in few GHz range, Y-type hexagonal ferrite is rmre applicalble than spinel ferrite in high frequency range, and more research would be necessary to find the mechanism of the second resonance observed in higher frequency.

With the development of electromagnetic communication technology and increased use of electromagnetic wave, the countermeasure of EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) becomes more important socially, and interest for the electromagnetic wave absorber has also increased. In this paper, we have studied characteristics of frequency dependency on complex permittivity and complex permeability according to the changes of composition rate and sintering temperature of NiCuZn ferrite also known as electromagnetic wave absorber and further looked into effect of electromagnetic wave absorption properties. From the measurement where the composition of $Fe_2O_3$ and ZnO of NiCuZn ferrite was fixed at 49 and 34 mol% respectively while composition of NiO and CuO has been varied at each test, we found out that Initial permeability and permittivity were high and the absorbing ability of electromagnetic wave recorded best with $loss tangent(=\mur"/\mur')$ displays more than 1 within the frequency band of 2MHz~9.5MHz when the composition ratio of NiO was ranged around 8.5~9.5 mol% and the sintering temperature was $1080^{\circ}C$.TEX>.
