PID control with parameter scheduling using fuzzy logic

  • This paper describes new PID control methods based on the fuzzy logic. PID gains are retuned after evaluating control performances of transient responses in terms of performance features. The retuning procedure is based on fuzzy rules and reasoning accumulated from the knowledge of experts on PID gain scheduling. For the case that the retuned PID gains result in worse CLDR (characteristics of load disturbance rejection) than the initial gains, an on-line tuning scheme of the set-point weighting parameter is, proposed. This is based on the fact that the set-point weighting method efficiently reduce either overshoot or undershoot without any degradation of CLDR. The set-point weighting parameter is adjusted at each sampling instant by the fuzzy rules and reasoning. As a result, better control performances were achived in comparison with die controllers tuned by the Z-N (Ziegler-Nichols) parameter tuning formula or by the fixed set-point weighting parameter.

  • 화력발전소 제어는 디지털 분산제어시스템에 의해서 이루어지고 보일러의 각종 프로세스는 대부분 PID제어기에 의해 제어되므로 PID제어기의 최적 조정은 보일러 프로세스의 안정적 운전에 가장 중요한 요소라고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 PID제어기는 분산제어시스템 제작사에 따라 구현방법을 달리하고 있으므로 PID제어기의 최적조정을 위해서는 구현된 PID제어기의 알고리즘을 이해하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 화력발전소 보일러 디지털 분산제어시스템의 국산화 개발품에 채용된 PID제어기와 화력발전소에서 사용 중인 주요 외국 제작사별 PID제어기의 알고리즘에 대하여 기술한다. 임의의 모델링 된 프로세스에 대하여 릴레이 피드백을 이용하여 임계진폭과 임계주기를 구하고 Ziegler-Nichols 주파수응답법을 이용하여 적합한 PID제어기 파라미터를 산출한 후 각각의 PID제어기에 산출된 파라미터를 적용 시뮬레이션하여 PID제어기들의 성능을 비교 분석하고자 한다.

  • Based on fuzzy logic algorithm this paper constructed fuzzy logic controller for automated vehicles. For passenger´s convenience especially comfortability controller need to reduce the frequency of input variable´s changing. So we established membership functions for comfortability as well as speed following. It made possible to control comfortability directly. To demonstration the efficiency of fuzzy logic controller, we carried out simulation with a automobile´s transfer function. First, we designed the PID controller by using Ziegler-Nichols tunning method.   • A self tuning technique is derived for PID controllers which are widely used in industries. The tuning algorithm is based upon a fuzzy indirect reasoning method and an iterative technique. The fuzzy technique is considered to obtain ease and simplicity of tuning process. The PID gains for the first tuning action are determined by a method which is modified from the Ziegler-Nichols step response method. The first PID gains are determined to obtain a control performance so close to a design performance that the followed tuning process can be made effectively. The design parameters are given as time-domain variables which human is familiar with. The results of simulation studies show that the proped tuning method can produce an effective tuning for arbitaray design performances.

  • This study is to investigate the problem of the SPM(Skin Pass Mil7) system which is a finishing treatment of steel sheet. and to develop a PID control scheme to minimize process instability. An electrohydraulic servo system with conventional proportional controller used to regulate the force on the strip works inadequately to yield very undesirable transient responses at the moments welding parts of the strip conte into and pass through the rolls. Both linearized and nonlinear models of a typical SPM system ware simulated first by using Simulink. Then Ziegler-Nichols ultimate cycling method was used for an initial reference guide to tune PID gains, and further fine tuning was performed to get desirable response. The test result in the plant show that proposed PID control scheme successfully improves the process instability in a SPM system.

  • This paper presetns modifications of a hydraulic shovel to robotize, and we derive a dynamic model of the hydraulic shovel arms,and hydraulic analysis are discussed . Then , our purpose is making to imitate a target railroad line of the grinder position by the PID control. Moreover, to determine the gains of the PId controller, we referenced the Ziegler and Nichols' method. In this paper, we demonstrated that the PID control is available for system. These results indicated the possibility of practical use fo the deburring robot with the hydraulic shovel.

  • We propose a new method to deal with the optimized auto-tuning for the PID controller which is used to the process-centre] in various fields. First of all, in this method, initial values are determined by the Switched Reluctance Motor of system and Ziegler-Nichols method. After deciding binary strings of parents generation using by the fitness values of genetic algorithms, we perform selection, crossover and mutation to generate the descendant generation. The advantage of this method is better than the neural network and multiple regression model method in characteristic of output, and has extent of applying without limit of initial parameters.

  • This paper designs the optimal PID controller for load frequency control on 2-area power system. Genetic algorithm is utilized to optimize parameters of PID controller which is applied to power system. Using two-point crossover, uniform crossover and one-point crossover, Search performance of genetic algorithm with each crossover method is considered. In case of load variation in 1-area, the dynamic characteristic of power system is considered. The simulation results show that the proposed PID controller is better control performance than PID controller using Ziegler-Nichols method.

  • The adjusting parameter set which enable control systems to locate on stability limit can be derived from theoretical or trial methods for an existing real system. The data from the results are much available to keep a system in the Proper stability condition even to site engineers who are inexperienced in the control system. In this paper, a general one loop control system was adopted for a model system the process of which was assumed to consist of a time-delay element and a first order-lag element in series. After obtaining the corresponding parameter set for the model system by mathematical procedures, their loci on the parameter space was taken according to frequency change. The parameter set loci of stability limit showed unique pattern, and particularity , the curves on the Kg-Ti parameter space were able to be generalized in the form of, an unique exponential formula. These properties were also compared with the results taken from experimental procedures by Nyquist response method and Ziegler & Nichols method on the time domain, and both results were confirmed to be nearly same.

  • For the state feedback controller which measures only partial state variables, a state observer can be used to give the estimates of unmeasurable states. In this paper, the delayed state feedback method instead of the state observer for desingning a tracking controller of electro-hydraulic control system is presented. The controller design is based on augmenting the original system by one additional integral and proportional element which compensates for the effect of the integral control and on feeding back the measurable state variables and their delayed values. The performance of the proposed position control system is compared with both that of the full state feedback control system and that of the digital PID control system tuned by the Ziegler-Nichols method and by the parameter readjustment through the computer simulation. And then robustness against unmeasurable constant disturbace and parameter variations during operations is also checked.
