A Study on the Start-Up Scheme of Direct Vector Controlled Induction Motor System (유도전동기의 직접 벡터제어 시스템에서 기동기법에 관한 연구)

  • The paper proposes a zero speed start-up scheme of direct rector controlled induction motor drive without any torque jerk. At standstill condition, a method is derived to calculate a stator flux with only stator current. The programmable 3-stage low pass filters with programmable time constants is used in order to solute the problem of integration for stator flux estimation in the direct vector control mode. Due to the time delay of 3-stage low pass filter, the status flux decreases rapidly and also the torque jerk occurs during the transition from standstill mode to the direct rector control mode. A feedforward control strategy of the stator flux is suggested to prevent the torque jerk at start-up. Through results of simulation and experiment with 32 bit DSP, the performance of the start-up scheme is verified.

  • This paper describes sensorless speed control of brushless DC motors by using direct torque control. Direct torque control offers fast torque response, robust specification of parameter changes, and lower hardware and processing costs compared to vector-controlled drives. In this paper, the current error compensation method is applied to the sensorless speed control of a brushless DC motor. Through this control technique, the controlled stator voltage is applied to the brushless DC motor such that the error between the stator currents in the mathematical model and the actual motor can be forced to decay to zero as time proceeds, and therefore, the motor speed approaches the setting value. This paper discusses the composition of the controller, which can carry out robust speed control without any proportional-integral (PI) controllers. The simulation results show that the control system has good dynamic speed and load responses at wide ranges of speed.

Biped Robot Control for Stable Walking (바이패드 로봇의 안정적인 거동을 위한 제어)

  • Biped locomotion can be simply modeled as a linear inverted pendulum mode. This model considers only the CG (center of gravity) of the entire system. But in real biped robot systems, the free-leg motion dynamics is not negligible. So if its dynamics is not considered in designing the reference CG motion, it is badly influence to the ZMP(zero moment point) position of the biped robot walking in the sagittal plane. Therefore, we modeled the biped locomotion similar to the linear inverted pendulum mode but considered the predetermined free-leg dynamics. To verify that the proposed biped locomotion is more stable than the linear inverted pendulum mode, we constructed a biped robot simulator and designed a serco controller to track both the reference motion of the free leg and the reference motion of CG of the biped robot using the computed torque control low. And through simulations, we verified that the proposed walking is better in stability than the one based on the linear inverted pendulum mode.

  • This paper describes a new sensorless speed control method for permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) using direct torque control(DTC). The direct torque control offers fast torque response, lesser hardware and processing costs as compared to vector controlled drives. In this paper the current error compensation technique is applied for sensorless speed control of synchronous motor. Through this method, the controlled stator voltage is applied to the synchronous motor so that the error between stator currents of the mathematical model and the actual motor can be forced to decay to zero as time proceeds and therefore, the motor speed approaches to the setting value. Especially, any PI controllers are not necessary in this control method. The simulation results indicate good speed and load responses from the low speed range to the high.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust adaptive backstepping control of induction motors with uncertainties using nonlinear disturbance observer(NDO). The proposed NDO is applied to estimate the time-varying lumped uncertainty which are derived from unknown motor parameters and load torque, but NDO error does not converge to zero since the derivate of lumped uncertainty is not zero. Then the fuzzy neural network(FNN) is presented to estimate the NDO error such that the rotor speed to converge to a small neighborhood of the desired trajectory. Rotor flux and inverse time constant are estimated by the sliding mode adaptive flux observer. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Effect of D-Range Neutral Control of Automatic Transmission on LA-4 Mode Fuel Economy (정지구간에서 자동변속기 D단 중립 제어가 LA-4 모드 주행 연비에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper focuses on vehicle fuel economy improvement using D-Range neutral control of automatic transmission. The system objected to reducing of fuel consumption during idle. Usually, turbine of conventional auto transmission is mechanically linked to wheel during idling condition. Therefore speed ratio of torque converter is zero for that period. This causes needless power loss by the torque converter slip. To improve this inefficiency automobile makers develops electronically-controlled D-range neutral control system. The D-range neutral control system minimizes slip on the torque converter by shifting gear to a neutral position during vehicle stoped with D-range gear position. However there's insufficient study about the effect of D-range neutral control system on vehicle fuel economy. In this paper, researches are performed on effect of D-range neutral control system on vehicle fuel economy by experiment with two different vehicle. And it is also estimated the effect on vehicle fuel economy using computer simulation. As a result, 1.8% of LA-4 mode fuel economy improvement can be achieved in a vehicle by D-range neutral control system.

Comparison of Efficiency for Different Switching Tables in Six-Phase Induction Motor DTC Drive

  • In this paper, different switching tables proposed for the Direct Torque Controlled (DTC) of a six-phase induction machine are simulated and implemented. A six-phase induction motor has 64 space voltage vectors which result in increased complexity in the selecting of inverters switching. The unsuitable selection of a switching table leads to large harmonics especially at low speed and it also reduces drive efficiency. A six-phase induction machine has large zero sequence harmonic currents of the order $6{\kappa}{\pm}1$. These harmonic currents are varied in various techniques. Decreasing this loss is essential in a six-phase induction machine. The main purpose of this paper is to improve the ST-DTC of six-phase induction machines to reduce the voltage and current harmonics and the torque pulsation. Selecting a suitable method for minimizing these harmonics is very important.

  • In the industrial motor drive system which is composed of a motor and load connected with a flexible shaft, a torsional vibration is often generated because of the elastic elements in torque transmission. To solve this problem, $H_{\infty}$ controller was designed. In this paper, $H_{\infty}$ control of 2-mass system using $H_{\infty}$ filter for compensating shaft torque is proposed. Pole-zero maps show the validity of proposed controller.

  • This paper proposes a method for improving the power quality of PMSG-based wind energy conversion system based on model predictive control in DC Microgrid. The MPC has a fast dynamic response. However, a large torque ripple deteriorating power quality is generated by a large and fixed switching period. On the other hand, the proposed method improves the power quality by setting the sampling time having zero torque error. The validity of the proposed method is verified through PSIM simulation.

  • This paper presents a sensorless speed control of IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using the high-frequency (HF) square wave injection method. In the proposed HF pulsating square wave injection method, injection voltage is applied into the estimated d-axis of rotor and high-frequency induced q-axis current is considered to estimate the rotor position. Conventional square wave injection methods may need complex demodulation process to find rotor position, while in the proposed method, an easy demodulation process based on the rising-falling edge of the injected voltage and carrier induced q-axis current is implemented, which needs less processing time and improves control bandwidth. Unlike some saliency-based sensorless methods, the proposed method uses maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) strategy, instead of zero d-axis command current strategy, to improve control performance. Furthermore, this paper directly uses resultant d-axis current to detect the magnet polarity and eliminates the need to add an extra pulse injection for magnet polarity detection. As experimental results show, the proposed method can quickly find initial rotor position and MTPA strategy helps to improve the control performance. The effectiveness of the proposed method and all theoretical concepts are verified by mathematical equations, simulation, and experimental tests.
