막 분리 공정을 이용한 1차 계통 실리카 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Silica Removal in Primary System using the Membrane Process)

  • 원전 1차 계통내에 실리카는 알카리 토금속(Ca, Mg, Al 등)과 결합하여 원전 연료 피복재에 열전달을 방해하는 규석층(Zeolite)를 형성한다. 이렇게 형성된 규석층은 원전 피복재 손상의 원인이 된다. 이러한 원전 1차 계통내 실리카의 문제점들은 EPRI 보고서 등에 그 문제점이 꾸준히 제기되어 왔으며 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 막분리 공정을 이용하고자 하였다. 먼저 실험실 규모의 실험을 통해 NF막의 실리카 제거율이 약 $60\;{\sim}\;70\%$, Boron 제거율이 약 $10\;{\sim}\;20\%$로 그 적용 가능성을 확인하였으며, FilmTec과 Osmonics 사 NF막 제품 4종에 대하여 현장 실험을 수행하였다. 현장 사용후연료 저장 붕산수 400L를 시료로 한 실험에서 운전압력 $10kg_{f}/cm^2$에서 FilmTec 사의 NF90-2540이 실리카 제거율이 약 $98\%$, Boron 제거율이 약 $43\%$로 확인되었으며 또한 NF270-2540이 실리카 제거율이 약 $38\%$, Boron 제거율이 약 $3.5\%$로 확인되었다. 이를 바탕으로 장기운전 특성 실험 등의 추가적인 연구를 통해 최적의 실리카 제거를 위한 막 분리공정을 설계 할 예정이다.

부식산의 광촉매 산화 공정에 도입된 여러 종류의 상용 TiO2 비교연구 (Photocatalytic Oxidation of Humic Acid by various commerical TiO2: A Comparative Study)

  • In this study, the effects of crystalinity, composition and particle size of $TiO_2$ catalysts on the degradations of humic acid in aqueous solution was assessed using the commercially avaliable $TiO_2$ particles. Photocatalytic oxidations of humic acid (HA, Aldrich Co.) solution were carried out in case of adding different types of $TiO_2$ catalysts and their decomposition efficiencies were analyzed with respect to pH, DOC and UV absorbances values for the HA solutions and compared one another. The experimental results showed that $TiO_2$ particles(Degussa P-25) mixed with anataze and rutile gave the highest degradation efficiencies, respectively and much lower degradation efficiency in $TiO_2$ paticles of rutile only type. In comparing among ST series of anataze types, it was observed that the degradation efficiencies generally were increased with increasing $TiO_2$ contents and surface area of the particles. Higher degradation efficiency of HA was also found in zeolite type(D-TZ) of $TiO_2$ paticles compared with hydroxyapatite type (D-TH) of $TiO_2$ particles.

조촉매가 담지된 Ni/HY 촉매상에서 메탄의 건식 개질 반응 연구 (Dry Reforming of Methane over Promoters Added Ni/HY Catalysts)

  • HY 제올라이트에 담지된 Ni 촉매 및 Mg, Ca, K 그리고 Mn 등이 조촉매로 함께 담지된 Ni/HY 촉매상에서 메탄의 건식 개질 반응을 수행하였다. 촉매는 초기 함침법으로 제조하였으며 제조된 촉매는 XRD, BET, SEM 및 TGA 분석을 통하여 반응 전후 의 촉매 변화를 고찰하였다. Ni의 담지량이 증가함에 따라 메탄의 전환율 및 생성물의 수율이 증가하였으며 Ni의 담지량이 13 wt% 일 때 메탄의 전환율이 최대를 나타내었다. Mg를 조촉매로 함께 담지하였을 때 촉매의 탄소에 대한 저항성이 크게 증가하였으며 이에 따라 촉매의 장기 안정성이 크게 향상되었다. 이는 조촉매로 담지된 Mg가 Ni의 입자 크기를 작게 하여 Ni의 분산도를 향상시키고 촉매의 비활성화를 방지하기 때문인 것으로 나타났다.

제주 화산석으로 합성한 제올라이트 물질을 이용한 용액 중의 Co 이온 제거 (Removal of Cobalt Ion in Aqueous Solution Using Zeolitic Materials Synthesized from Jeju Volcanic Rocks)

  • In this study, zeolitic materials were synthesized from Jeju Volcanic Rocks (JVR) using a fusion/hydrothermal method at NaOH/JVR ratios of 0.6 and 1.2. The crystallinities of the zeolitic materials at NaOH/JVR ratios of 0.6 and 1.2 were 25.5% and 59.0%, respectively. It was confirmed through the SEM image that the zeolitic materials covered the zeolite particle with a cube-shaped crystals. The Co ions adsorption by the zeolitic materials were to reach the adsorption equilibrium at 120 min. It could be better simulated in the pseudo-second order adsorption kinetic equation than in the pseudo-first order adsorption kinetic equation. The adsorption capacities (qm) of Co ions could be to estimate Langmuir isotherm better than Freundlich isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacities (qm) at NaOH/JVR ratios of 0.6 and 1.2 were 55.3 mg/g and 68.7 mg/g, respectively. It was found that there was a high correlation between the crystallinity of zeolitic materials and the adsorption capacity of Co ions adsorption.

In-field evaluation of clinoptilolite feeding efficacy on the reduction of milk aflatoxin M1 concentration in dairy cattle

  • Background: Clinoptilolite is a natural zeolite with high adsorption capacity for polar mycotoxins such as aflatoxins. The efficacy of clinoptilolite in ameliorating the toxic effects of aflatoxicosis has been proven in monogastric animals, but there is no such evidence for ruminants. The aim of this study was to evaluate, under field conditions, whether the dietary administration of clinoptilolite in dairy cows could reduce the concentration of aflatoxin M1 ($AFM_1$) in bulk-tank milk, in farms with higher than or close to $0.05{\mu}g/kg$ of milk (European maximum allowed residual level). An objective of the present study was also to investigate the effect of particle size of clinoptilolite on aflatoxin binding. Methods: Fifteen commercial Greek dairy herds with AFM1 concentrations in bulk tank milk ${\geq}0.05{\mu}g/kg$ were selected. Bulk tank milk AFM1 was determined prior to the onset and on day 7 of the experiment. Clinoptilolite was added in the total mixed rations of all farms at the rate of 200 g per animal per day, throughout this period. Two different particle sizes of clinoptilolite were used; less than 0.15 mm in 9 farms (LC group) and less than 0.8 mm in 6 farms (HC group). Results: Clinoptilolite administration significantly reduced $AFM_1$ concentrations in milk in all farms tested at an average rate of 56.2 % (SD: 15.11). The mean milk $AFM_1$ concentration recorded on Day 7 was significantly (P < 0.001) lower compared to that of Day 0 ($0.036{\pm}0.0061$ vs. $0.078{\pm}0.0074{\mu}g/kg$). In LC group farms the reduction of milk $AFM_1$ concentration was significantly higher than HC group farms ($0.046{\pm}0.0074$ vs. $0.036{\pm}0.0061{\mu}g/kg$, P = 0.002). As indicated by the Pearson correlation, there was a significant and strong linear correlation among the milk $AFM_1$ concentrations on Days 0 and 7 (R = 0.95, P < 0.001). Conclusions: Dietary administration of clinoptilolite, especially of smallest particle size, at the rate of 200 g per cow per day can effectively reduce milk $AFM_1$ concentration in dairy cattle and can be used as a preventive measure for the amelioration of the risks associated with the presence of aflatoxins in the milk of dairy cows.

대중교통수단에서 PM10, PM2.5 및 CO2의 농도 현황과 저감기술 개발에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of PM10, PM2.5 and CO2 Concentration in Public Transportations and Development of Control Technology)

  • This study examined the concentration level of the major air pollutants in public transportation. The study was conducted between February 2009 and March 2008 at Suwon-Yeosu line in Korea. $PM_{10}$ concentration level was $100{\mu}g/m^3$ on average. The $PM_{2.5}$ to PM10 ratio in transport is 0.37, which was lower than the results published by other researches. The result also demonstrated that outdoor $PM_{10}$ concentration was about 56~60% level compared to that of the cabin. $CO_2$ concentration level in the cabin was 1,359ppm, which does not exceed 2,000ppm, which is the guideline concentration level according to the Ministry of Environment. $CO_2$ concentration level in the cabin was $CO_2=23.4{\times}N+460.2$, and about 23.4ppm in $CO_2$ concentration level increased every time one passenger was added on. The experiment conducted on the train demonstrated that the average $PM_{10}$ concentration level was $100{\mu}g/m^3$ in case of the reference cabin while average $PM_{10}$ concentration level of the modified vehicle was $68{\mu}g/m^3$. Likewise, effect of the particle reduction device for the reduction of $PM_{10}$ concentration level was approximately 21%. Meanwhile there was almost no difference in the concentration level between reference and modified cabin in case of $PM_{2.5}$. Using zeolite as an adsorbent was made to reduce the $CO_2$ concentration level in the cabin. Number of passengers was factored in, to calculate the effect of the adsorption device, which demonstrated that about 36% of $CO_2$ concentration level was reduced in the modified cabin effect of the $CO_2$ reduction device. This research analyzed the current status concerning the quality of air in the public transportation and technologies were developed that reduces major air pollutants.

도시쓰레기 소각재 슬래그로 제조된 지오폴리머의 특성 (Characterization of geopolymer made of municipal solid waste incineration ash slag)

  • 본 연구에서는 도시 쓰레기 소각재 슬래그에 알칼리 활성화제로서 NaOH를 첨가하여 지오폴리머를 합성하고 그 물성을 평가하였다. 특히 NaOH의 몰농도, 원료의 입도 그리고 액체/고체 비율이 제조된 지오폴리머의 압축강도에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 원료의 입도가 미세할수록 합성된 지오폴리머의 강도는 증가하였으며, 액체/고체 비율의 최적 값은 0.13으로 나타났다. 합성된 지오폴리머의 압축강도는 첨가된 NaOH의 몰농도가 증가함에 따라 함께 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으나, 20 M 이상의 농도에서는 일정 값에 수렴하였다. 20 M 이상의 NaOH 농도로 제조된 지오폴리머에는 sodium aluminum silicate 및 sodium aluminum silicate hydrate 형태의 2종류 zeolite 결정상이 생성되었다. 20 M NaOH 및 $70^{\circ}C$ 양생조건으로 제조된 시편에서 가장 높은 압축강도, 163 MPa이 발현되었으며, 이것은 고농도의 NaOH가 지오폴리머 반응 및 치밀한 미세구조 형성을 촉진시켰기 때문인 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구에서 제조된 고강도의 지오폴리머는 향후, 도시쓰레기 소각재 슬래그의 재활용율 제고는 물론 시멘트 대체 분야 발전에 일조할 것으로 기대된다.

연속회분식 반응조에서 생화학흡착제로서 바이오세라믹의 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Bioceramics as Biochemosorption Material in Sequencing Batch Reactor)

  • Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is well adopted for community wastewater treatment for its simplicity, performance and various advantageous treatment options. SBR is now drawing attention for its process modification such as coupled with membrane bioreactor, reverse osmosis or applying different media to achieve high removal efficiency. This study focused on the improved efficiency of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous removal by applying zeolite materials called bioceramics to the SBR. Two laboratory-scale SBR units were operated in the same operating conditions - one with bioceramics called Bioceramic SBR (BCSBR) and the other without bioceramics used as control. Routine monitoring of COD, TP, $NH_3-N$, $NO_3-N$ was performed throughout this study. COD removal was about 80% to 100% and phosphorous removal was about 60% in the process whereas $NH_3-N$ removal efficiency was found to be 99.9% in the BCSBR unit. Addition of bioceramics also improved sludge characteristics such as sludge dewaterability, specific gravity and particle size. BCSBR can withstand high ammonia shock loading leading to the better treatment capacity of high ammonia containing wastewater. The cause of improved removal efficiencies within the biological reactor could be attributed to the biochemosorption mechanisms of bioceramics. Absorption/adsorption or desorption capacity of bioceramics was tested through laboratory experiments.

X線螢光分析에 依한 珪酸鹽鑛物의 分析 (The X-Ray Fluorescent Spectrographic Analysis of Silicate Minerals)

  • 螢光X線을 利用하여 珪酸鹽鑛物中의 主成分인 $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$, CaO, MgO 및 $K_2O$를 迅速히 分析할 目的으로 試料의 處理 測定 및 各條件에 對하여 檢討하였다. 試料를 Lithium Tetraborate로 용융하여 300Mesh 以上의 微粉末로 한後 40,000Lb의 壓力으로 成型하여 Tungsten과 Chromium 對陰極의 X-線管과 LiF, EDDT, ADP의 分光結晶을 使用하여 測定하였다. 各成分에 對한 檢量曲線은 Matrix Effect를 고려하여 N.B.S 및 International Rock Standard를 選定 使用하였고 Lanthanum Oxide 및 Binder로서 Borie Acid를 첨가하여 얻었다. 各成分에 對하여 本法의 再現性 및 誤差를 檢討하기를 爲하여 I.R.S T-1을 使用하여 測定한 結果 0.47($SiO_2$), 0.85($Al_2O_3$), 0.05($Fe_2O_3$), 0.07(caO), 0.02($K_2O$), 0.13(MgO)의 標準偏差를 얻었다. 또한 化學分析植에 對한 偏差를 求하고져 Clay, Kaoline, Alunite, Wallastonite 및 Zeolite 等의 珪酸鹽鑛物을 選定하여 化學分析 및 本法에 依한 分析結果를 비교하였다.

Investigation of influence of nano H-ZSM-5 and NH4-ZSM-5 zeolites on membrane fouling in semi batch MBR

  • The objectives of this research were the reduction of membrane fouling and improvement of sludge properties by using synthesized H-ZSM-5 and NH4-ZSM-5 zeolites. These two nano zeolites were synthesized and added to the membrane bioreactor (MBR). Three similar MBRs with the same operational condition were used in order to evaluate their effect on the mentioned matters. The evaluated parameters were trans-membrane pressure (TMP), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), particle size distribution (PSD), soluble microbial product (SMP), extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and, excitation-emission matrix (EEM). The MBR0 was without any additional zeolite while 0.4 g/L of H-ZSM-5 and NH4-ZSM-5 were added to MBRHZSM-5 and MBRNH4ZSM-5, respectively. The COD removal of the MBR0, MBRH-ZSM-5 and MBRNH4-ZSM-5 were 87.5%, 93.3% and 94.6%, respectively. The TMP of the MBRH-ZSM-5 was 45% less than MBR0 whereas the reduction for MBRNH4-ZSM-5 was 65.5%. Also results showed that both H-ZSM-5 and NH4-ZSM-5 caused reduction in protein and polysaccharide related EPS but the NH4-ZSM-5 had better performance toward the elimination of organic compounds.
