가구재로써 노령 밤나무재의 효율적 이용에 관한 연구 (Study on Effective Use of Aged Chestnut Woods as Furniture Materials)

  • This study explored the development of wood furniture made of aged Castanea crenata Sieb. et Zucc, which has been largely planted in the southern area since 1960s and has hardly been used as furniture materials. First, the physical properties of the chestnut wood including specific gravity, stiffness, and shrinkage were compared with Zelkova serrata, Acer palmatum Thunb., Fagus crenata var. multinevis, Quercus, Tagayasan, Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, Juglans sinenis, Pteronrpus santalinus, Diospyros ebenum, and Fraxinus rhynchophylla, which have largely been used in manufacturing furniture. The chestnut wood had appropliate physical properties for wood furniture like other furniture woods. A piece of small table 50 cm in width, 50 cm in length and 60 cm in height by the chestnut tree was created for a current interior space. Since the diameter of the chestnut tree planted since 1960s is below around 30 cm, the top plate of the table had to be put together by an end-joint technique using a small strip. Finally, it is expected that this study will create a greate motivation for furniture designers, furniture studios and furniture companies in Korea to use the woods from the aged chestnut tree in developing furniture in the future.

도시녹지에 의한 미기후개선의 기능 (Function of Microclimate Amelioration by Urban Greenspace)

  • This study measured transpiration rate of urban trees and albedos of urban surfaces, and examined the function of microclimate amelioration by urban greenspace. Transpiration rates of trees were highest in July and August of growing months. Transpiration per unit leaf area for the two months was 300-350 g/$m^2$/h for Platanus occidentalis, 210-270 g/$m^2$/h for Ginkgo biloba and Zelkova serrata, and 130-140 g/$m^2$/h for Acer palmatum. Surface albedos were 0.09 for asphalt paving and 0.68 for white wall, which reveals that light-colored surfaces are better than dark-colored ones to lower the heat build-up. Due to lack of evapotranspiration, concrete surfaces were, at t midafternoon maximum, 8$^{\circ}C$ hotter than grass ones, though the albedo of concrete paving was higher thant that of grass and trees. Summer air temperatures at places with 12% and 22% cover of woody plants were, respectively, 0.6$^{\circ}C$ and 1.4$^{\circ}C$ cooler than a place with no vegetation. To mitigate the impacts of urban heat islands, required are minimization of hard surfaces, light-coloring for building surfaces, and greenspace enlargement including more plantings.

  • This report observed for anatomical structure and identified species of small wood debris collected at Chungi-Hyankyo, Yunbuk-Chung, Jeju-Hyankyo, Teachung-Hyangkyo and Kwanduk-Chung in Jeju province constructed in a central period of Yi-dynasty, and now named as local cultral assets. 1. Sample of Chungi-Hyangkyo is gymnosperm with window-like pit, axial and radial cannal & dentate ray tracheid. This sample with identified with Pinus densiflora or Pinus thunbergii. 2. Samples of Yunbuk-Chung and Jeju-Hyangkyo are diffuse porous wood having small vessels with scalariform perforation plates scattered almost equally in annual ring, possess heterogenus ray parenchyma & banded apotracheal parenchyma. This sample is identified with Distylium racemosum. 3. Sample of Teachung-Hyangkyo is ring porous wood composed of big vessels of pore zone and compound vessels outside pore zone. It also has simple perforation plates, tylosis, homogenlls uniseriate ray parenchyma & diffuse parenchyma This sample is identified with Castanopsis cuspidata. 4. Sample of kwanduk-Chung is ring porous wood composed of big vessels of pore zone and compound vessels outside pore zone. It has simple perforation plates, heterogenus ray parenchyma, crystal, vasicentric parenchyma. This sample is identified with Zelkova serrata.

Appearance Pattern of Figures in Commercial Domestic Hardwoods (I)

  • In this study, the figure of domestic hardwood was observed using the naked eye and the possibility of substituting imported wood with domestic one in the making woodcraft or furniture was investigated. It was known from the investigation on 8 different hardwoods that there were various figures such as cloud-shaped figure, blister figure, crotch figure, bird's eye figure, etc. in Zelkova serrata wood and the beautiful pigment figure in Diospyros Kaki wood. There were the unusual figures such as wavy grain figure, fiddle back figure, etc. in Cedrela sinensis wood and was clear ray-fleck figure in Quercus variabilis wood. There were also various figures such as wavy grain figure, blister figure, pigment figure, etc. in Sophra japonica, Tilia amurensis, Castanea crenata, Kalopanax septemlobus wood, etc. It is thus that distinguished figures appeared in each kind of wood can be used for craft, sculpture, furniture, and interior material. These kinds of figures can also be used for instrument, toy, stationery, life article material and souvenir, etc. And it can be expected that they will replace the imported wood has been mainly used to make the woodcraft or furniture until now.

댐 부유물 톱밥과 하수슬러지를 활용한 부숙질 비료가 수목생장 및 토양특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Fertilizer Composed of Dam Suspended Particle Sawdust and Sewage Sludge to Soil Properties and Tree Growth)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of fertilizer composted of dam suspended particle sawdust and sewage sludge to soil properties and seedling growth. The Betula platyphylla var japonica, Zelkova serrata and Chamaecyparis obtusa were used for this study. The soil organic matter, total nitrogen, phosphorous, exchangeable calcium, magnesium, and potassium were increased with fertilizer treatment. Heavy metal concentration in soil was increased with fertilizer treatment, but the level was very low. With fertilizer treatment, growth, photosynthetic capacity, and chlorophyll concentration of seedling were improved.

해양에서 열화된 완도선 수침고목재의 화학적.미시형태적 변화 (Chemical and micromorphological changes of archaeological waterlogged wood degraded in marine situations.)

  • Chemical and micro morphological changes of archaeological waterlogged woods from shipwrecked materials in marine situations were investigated which were submerged in seabed for over 900 years. Tested Wood species were Pinusdensiflora, Zelkova serrata, Quercus acutissima and Camellia japonica. The obtained results were summarized as follows; Chemical analysis showed that lignin content was increased, whereas the amout of holocellulose was heavily decreased in the degraded archaeological lwoods(DAW), when compared to the recent woods. The amount of alkalineextractives in the DAW was extremley high. IR spectra showed that disappearance of absortion band at $1,730㎝^-1$ intensity increase at 1,600, 1,500 and $1,270㎝^-1$ and the emergence of single band around $1,050㎝^-1$.Microscopic investigation showed that cell wall of latewood tracheids and fiber in the DAW were severely degraded while, early wood tracheids less degraded. Degradation in the cell wall was mainley occurred in $S_2$layer, while the middle lamella was the least degraded. The micro morphological characteristics of DAW were separation of secondary wall from middle lamella, cavities aligned with micro fibril angle in $S_2$layer and granular appearance of secondary wall by the bacterial attack.

대청댐 유역 굴참나무림의 군락분류학 및 군락생태학적 연구 (Syntaxonomy and Synecology of Quercus variabilis Forest in Daecheong-dam basin)

  • Syntaxonomy and Synecology on Quercus variabilis forests in Daecheong-dam basin was carried out using the methods of Braun-Blanquet phytosociology. 6 syntaxa classified as species compositions described were Quercus variabilis community, Platycarya strobilacea-Quercus variabilis community(typicum subcommunity, dictamnus dasycarpus subcommunity), Quercetum variabili-serratae, Zelkova serrata-Quercus variabilis community and Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community. All syntaxa were shown habitat environmental conditions including steep inclination of more than 30°, high rock exposure rate of more than 50% and South-facing slope. These communities excepting Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community classified as natural vegetation were identified as low emergence rate of annual plants and species compositions composed native species, so it was confirmed that relatively natural succession were proceeding well. Quercetum variabili-serratae and Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community distributed forested hillslope of open water edge were representative Quercus variabilis syntaxa in Daecheong-dam basin.

계룡산국립공원 공원문화유산지구 사찰림의 식생구조 (Temple Forest Vegetation Structure of Cultural Heritage Site in Mt. Gyeryongsan National Park - Focused on Donghaksa, Gapsa and Sinwonsa -)

  • 본 연구는 계룡산국립공원 공원문화유산지구로 지정된 동학사, 갑사, 신원사를 대상으로 식물사회학적 식생조사자료를 바탕으로 식생구조를 파악하여 생태적 특성을 구명하여 사찰림의 생태적 보전관리 방안을 마련하는데 기초 자료를 제공하고자 2018년 9월부터 2019년 5월까지 총 29개소의 산림식생조사를 수행하였다. 계층적 군집분석 결과, 느티나무-으름덩굴-황매화군락(VU1), 졸참나무-작살나무-까치박달군락(VU2), 소나무-산벚나무-쇠물푸레나무군락(VU3)으로 식생유형이 각각 구분되었으며, 각 식생단위별 지표종은 각각 12분류군, 8분류군, 6분류군으로 나타났다. 중요치 분석 결과, 모든 식생단위에서 느티나무의 중요치가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 종다양도 분석 결과, 식생단위 3의 종다양도가 0.939으로 다른 식생단위와 비교하였을 때 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 식생유형과 무생물적입지환경, 생물적입지환경과의 상관관계분석을 CCA를 통해 분석한 결과, 무생물적 환경인자와의 관계는 식생단위 2와 해발고도가 음의 상관관계를 가지는 경향을 보였으며, 생물적 환경인자와의 관계에서는 뚜렷한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다.

거제도 천장산 일대 상록활엽수림의 식물군집구조 특성 (Plant Community Structure Characteristic of the Evergreen Forest, Cheonjangsan(Mt.) at GeoJae)

  • 본 연구는 거제도에 분포하는 난대림대의 식물군집구조 특성을 파악하기 위하여, 교목층, 아교목층, 관목층에 상록활엽수가 우점하거나 분포하는 천장산 북동사면을 대상으로 조사구를 설정하였다. 조사구는 상록활엽수가 분포하는 능선, 계곡, 경사지 등 천장산을 대표할 수 있는 식생군락과 입지환경의 변화가 있는 지역을 대상으로 31개소의 방형구를 설치하였다. TWINSPAN에 의한 군락분류 결과, 참식나무-굴피나무, 참식나무-때죽나무, 참식나무-참회나무, 곰솔-참식나무, 참식나무-졸참나무, 굴참나무-굴피나무 6개 군락으로 구분되었다. 난대림의 천이경향에 의하면, 곰솔, 낙엽활엽수를 거쳐 상록활엽수로 진행된다라는 연구결과를 반영한다면, 곰솔군락 뿐만 아니라 졸참나무, 굴피나무, 굴참나무 등 낙엽활엽수가 우점하거나 경쟁하는 지역도 참식나무가 우점하는 상록활엽수로 천이가 진행될 것이다. 환경요인과 식생분포간의 관계를 살펴보면, 경사도, Na+, K+, 전기전도도, 물리적 특성 중 점토(clay) 등이 식생분포에 직간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다.

내연산(內延山) 일대(-帶) 삼림식생(森林植生)의 군락분류(群落分類)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on Community Classification of Forest Vegetation in Mt. Naeyeon)

  • 내연산의 삼림식생을 대상으로 ZM식물사회학적 방법에 의해 군락단위 및 그 하위단위를 분류하고, 분류된 각 단위와 환경사이의 상관관계를 서열법으로 해석하여 내연산 산림식생관리를 위한 기초자료를 제공할 목적으로 본 연구를 수행하였다. 군락단위는 신갈나무군락, 굴참나무군락, 소나무군락, 서어나무군락, 느티나무군락이 구분되었고, 하위단위는 신갈나무군락에서 철쪽꽃군과 참회나무군, 굴참나무군락에서 우산나물군, 털조록싸리군 및 찰피나무군, 느티나무군락에서 까치박달군과 고욤나무군이 각각 세분되었다. 따라서 내연산 일대의 산림은 5개군락, 7개군으로 총 9개의 식생단위로 분류되었다. CCA 방법으로 식생과 환경사이의 상관관계 분석 결과 내연산 지역의 식생단위는 해발과 가장 높은 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 신갈나무군락의 철쪽꽃군과 참회나무군은 해발고와 지형이 높은 곳과 노암율이 낮은 곳에 각각 분포하는 경향이었다. 한편 느티나무군락은 신갈나무군락과 역의 관계로 나타났다. 앞으로 산림식생관리시 특히 계곡림에 대해서는 교목층의 우점종들이 상관적으로 이질적인 모습을 하고 있더라도 하나의 관리단위로 고려되어야 할 것으로 판단되었다.
