The paper involves the study on the elastic and elasto-plastic stress wave propagation in the 1-D and 2-D solid media. The Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics equations governing the elastic and elasto-plastic large deformation dynamic response of solid structures are presented. The proposed additional stress points are introduced in the formulation to mitigate the tensile instability inherent in the SPH approach. Both incremental rate approach and leap-frog algorithm for time integration are introduced and the new solution algorithm is developed and implemented. Two examples on stress wave propagation in aluminium bar and 2-D elasto-plastic steel plate are included. Results from the proposed SPH approach are compared with available analytical values and finite element solutions. The comparison illustrates that the stress wave propagation problems can be effectively solved by the proposed SPH method. The study shows that the SPH simulation is a reliable and robust tool and can be used with confidence to treat transient dynamics such as linear and non-linear transient stress wave propagation problems.

The present study numerically models the interaction between a regular wave and the roll motion of a rectangular floating structure. In order to simulate two-dimensional incompressible viscous two-phase flow in a numerical wave tank with the rectangular floating structure, the present study used the volume of fluid method based on the finite volume method. The sliding mesh technique is adopted to handle the motion of the rectangular floating structure induced by fluid-structure interaction. The effect of the wave period on the flow, roll motion and forces acting on the structure is examined by considering three different wave periods. The time variations of the wave height and the roll motion of the rectangular structure are in good agreement with experimental results for all wave periods. The present response amplitude operator is in good agreement with experimental results with the linear potential theory. The present numerical results effectively represent the entire process of vortex generation and evolution described by the experimental results. The longer wave period showed a different mechanism of the vortex evolution near each bottom corner of the structure compared to cases of shorter wave periods. In addition, the x-directional and z-directional forces acting on the structure are analyzed.
In the presence of hydrogen peroxide, the effects of temperature and pH to the catalytic reaction velocity of cupric -thiocyanate and the quantities of reduction products adsorbed on the D.M.E. have been studied by polarographic method. According to these experiments, the following empirical equation has been derived for the relation among temperature $T_i$, concentration of hydrogen ion $pH_i$ and adsorbed cuprous-thiocyanate in moles/$cm^2Z_{ij}$, and rate constant log$K_{ij}$$$log\;K_{ij}=\frac{1}{T_i}\{A(pH_j)+B\}+C(pH_j)+D$$$$Z_{ij}=\frac{1}{T_i}\{{\alpha}(pH_j)^{\frac{1}{2}}+{\beta}\}+{\gamma}(pH_j)^{\frac{1}{2}}+{\delta}$$ where, A,B,C,D and {$\alpha},{\beta},{\gamma},{\delta}$ are constants. The Calculated values by both equations are well agreed with empirical values within 8% in the error.
The Connected House is a new type of IT convergence service that combines new communication services with existing IT systems such as M2M, NFC, smart home, and smart grid. It is a future connected life service that connects to any device anytime, anywhere. In this paper, we designed an intelligent gateway, a connected office solution for the Internet of things, which provides a connected life service for the future, and can control various sensors, ZigBee/Z-Wave/NFC and terminal devices. In addition, IP/SIP/IMS cameras and video door phones that are linked to the gateway have been developed to satisfy the quality standards of domestic communication service providers in terms of voice quality, jitter, and frame rate.
In this study, we theoretically study the acoustic scattering of an obliquely incident plane wave from a finite elastic cylindrical shell. A heuristic scattering method of Ye [Z. Ye, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 102, 877-884 (1997)] for a finite fluid cylinder is extended into a finite elastic cylindrical shell since no analytic solutions exist in the finite cylinder. The elastic cylindrical shell is modeled with the 3D elastic wave theory considering internal fluid. Using the derived analytic solution, we observe the effect of the internal fluid on the scattering field, the scattering field for the Rayleigh parameter, and the far-field scattering function for the elastic property of the cylindrical shell.
The electronic structures and properties of layered perovskite $LaSrMnO_4$ and $SR^2MnO_4$ have been determined using the local-density full potential Imearized augmented plane wave method. The total energy calculations show that the antiterromagnetic state has lower energy than the ferromagnetic state in $LaSrMnO_4$. The jahn-Teller distortion of Mn-O octahedron produces the energy gap and the $3z^2-r^2$ orbital ordering, which stabilizes 2 dimensional antiferromagnetis state.

In recent years, nano-structured thin film systems are often applied in industries such as MEMS/NEMS device, optical coating, semiconductor or like this. Thin films are used for many and varied purpose to provide resistance to abrasion, erosion, corrosion, or high temperature oxidation and also to provide special magnetic or dielectric properties. Quite a number of articles to evaluate the characterization of thin film structure such as film density, film grain size, film elastic properties, and film/substrate interface condition were reported. Among them, the evaluation of film adhesive to substrate has been of great interest. In this study, we fabricated the polymeric thin film system with different adhesive conditions to evaluate the adhesive condition of the thin film. The nano-structured thin film system was fabricated by spin coating method. And then V(z) curve technique was applied to evaluate adhesive condition of the interface by measuring the surface acoustic wave(SAW) velocity by scanning acoustic microscope(SAM). Furthermore, a nano-scratch technique was applied to the systems to obtain correlations between the velocity of the SAW propagating within the system including the interface and the shear adhesive force. The results show a good correlation between the SAW velocities measured by acoustic spectroscope and the critical load measured by the nano-scratch test. Consequently, V(z) curve method showed potentials for characterizing the adhesive conditions at the interface by acoustic microscope.

This paper concerns the receding of the eastern coastline of Korean peninsula at a macroscopic point of view, the result is as following. 1. Eastern coast is gradually developed from maturity stage to full maturity stage. 2. The coastline recession due to sea level rise is amounted to the receding distance, x=0.045 m per yr. 3. The author proposes another classification from the new view point, which is classified by comparing quantities between river supplying sediment loads, and the littoral drifting due to wave actions. According this, eastern coast is receding(Type Q-A), and we could find it's geomorphological characteristics. 4. The general piofile of eastern coast sand beach is erosional storm profile(Type I) which accompany offshore bar. 5. From the wave measuring data of eastern coast(Hoopo port), I can derive the linear regression line of the exceedance probability of wave height from the log-normal distribution. $z=O. 113+4.335 log_lo H, r=0.983.$ Above equation made it possible to estimate $\omega[=P(H>H_c)]for the effective wave height H_c=2. Om4, 4. Om and their corresponding values are considerable (7.8%, 0.3%) 6. Eastern coastline certainly have the tendency of erosive and receding, owing to the sea level rise, poor sediment source and effective wave actions. It's very desirable to survey coastline evolution for a long time systematically, in order to make more elaborate diagnosis.

In this paper the statistical characteristics of the waves at Hong-do and Mara-do are examined. The wane scatter diagrams of H/sub s/ and T/sub z/ and H/sub 1/3/and T/sub 1/3/ at two locations are given and various statistical characteristics of the ocean waves are examined. If the sea is not narrowband, the modified Rayleigh distribution introduced by Longuet-Higgins can be used for the individual wave height distribution. However the modified Rayleigh distribution has not been widely used due to the inconvenience of determining the empirical constant. In this paper a simple method to determine the empirical constant for the modified Rayleigh distribution is proposed. Extreme waves based on the measured wave data are estimated. There is no significant difference depending on the distribution functions. However the estimations of the extreme waves from H/sub s/ and H/sub 1/3/ show considerable difference.

A UHF band wireless identification system based on passive surface acoustic wave(SAW) devices is presented in this paper. SAW ID tags were fabricated on Y-Z $LiNbO_3$ piezoelectric substrate with a good electro-mechanical coupling property. To reduce degradation of the antenna performance associated with the piezoelectric materials, an efficient design of the SAW RFID antenna is introduced. By measuring the parameters of the SAW ID tag, the performance of the antenna was tested by experimentation.
