The Impact of Influencers' Characteristics on YouTube Information Adoption and Purchase Intention (인플루언서 속성이 유튜브 정보수용과 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to suggest a research model that shows how Youtube influencers affect consumers' Youtube information adoption and purchase intention. Generally, a communicator's character has a significant effect on the persuasiveness of the message. This study segments influencer characteristics into five dimensions and explores the effect of five characteristics on perceived usefulness of information, perceived enjoyment, information adoption, and purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach This study suggests a structural equation model that explains the casual relationship between the five dimensions of Youtuber characteristics and perceived usefulness of information, perceived enjoyment, information adoption, and purchase intention. Findings There are little research on what and how the characteristics of a Youtube influencer can affect consumers' information adoption and purchase intention of the product. This study is significant in that it provides a research model that examines the effect of Youtuber characteristics on consumers' information adoption and purchase intention. This research discovered that the dimensions of trustworthiness and attractiveness of influencer affect information adoption and purchase intention through the mediate variables.

A study on video production behavior of teenage creator (10대 크리에이터의 영상 제작 행태 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest ways to improve the competence and performance of teenage creators through the behavioral comparison. With the recent growth of video streaming services, the number of teenage creators is rapidly increasing. However, research on the video production behavior of teenagers is still limited. Therefore, in this study, we examined the video production behaviors of teenagers and assessed difficulties in each step. This study was conducted with the case study and the empirical study which interviewed the enthusiasts group and the creators group. Experimental results indicated that the editing stage was the most important but the lowest in both groups. In particular, the interest group had a greater burden on the editorial stage than the creator group. Therefore, in order to encourage teenage video production activities, it will be necessary to train them in editing programs or provide easy editing functions.

A Study on the Secondary Science Teachers' YouTuber Experience and Identity: Focusing on Foucault's Concept of Heterotopia (중등과학교사의 유튜버 경험과 정체성에 대한 연구 -푸코의 헤테로토피아 개념을 중심으로-)

  • This study is a qualitative case study of secondary science teachers who are doing educational activities in YouTube. In particular, this study attempts to interpret this case based on Foucault's concept of 'Heterotopia', which means a space that allows for private freedom or deviance by reflecting various utopias without the norms and constraints from every day or real space. Five secondary science teachers who voluntarily opened a personal channel on the YouTube platform and actively uploaded their own videos related to science education participated in the study. In order to understand the experiences of five secondary science teachers, data were individually collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, and the collected data were analyzed using qualitative case study method. For valid interpretation of the study, we also referred to the video contents, teacher training materials, and teaching and learning materials produced by the participants. As a result of the study, seven themes were revealed: 'Desire for one's own unique educational activities,' 'Youtube as an extended classroom space,' 'Expanded network of relationships beyond the classroom barrier,' 'Satisfaction of desire for recognition and experience of identity as a YouTuber,' 'Tension between the educational space and the YouTube,' 'Space to be reborn as a craftsman,' and 'Finding one's own direction as a Teacher-YouTuber.' Given those findings, we found that the identity and desire of secondary science teachers, which were limited in the existing secondary schools and classrooms, was expanded in a new space called YouTube. In addition, we suggested that YouTube could be a space where science teachers can realize their own ideals and feel the joy. And simple regulating teacher's behavior in Youtube space only based on norms and standards shared in traditional educational space would rather hinder their healthy construction of identity and growth.
