A Study on the Project of Empowering Young Farmers and Agricultural Personnel in Taiwan (대만의 농민 후계자 및 농업인력 양성계획 연구)

  • Taiwan has plural agricultural education system and has accelerated its social and economic growth through Agricultural Extension Education. This study has been carried out centering around the work plans which analyzed the project of cultivating young farmers supported by the Republic of China Government. Taiwan has promoted administrative and financial support systems with the government as the central figure in order to equip the efficient and continuous development system of agricultural human resources for securing agricultural skilled personnel, developing farmers' organizations and cultivating young farmers that can cope with the open world. The main training programs are for developing farmers' organizations and they are as follows. 1) The Agricultural Production and Marketing Group(APMG) 2) Expert Farming Training Program for Rural Youth 3) Agricultural Extension Service Worker Training Program 4) Rural Youth Development Program 5) School 4-H Club Activities for Student Development Program 6) International Rural Youth Exchange Program Development 7) Agricultural Extension Education Program for Minority People 8) Job Change Training Program for Rural People The training programs are organized for all the rural residents and students to develop their individual careers systematically and continuously, and they are very encouraging in whole development. Also they offer us many suggestions.

A Study on Self-Efficacy and Role Conflict of 4-H Leaders (학생4-H 지도교사의 자기효능감 및 역할갈등에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to measure role conflict of 4-H leaders and to verify the differences of role conflict and self-efficacy according to individual characteristics. The data were collected from 99 leaders who took charge of guiding 4-H youth organization in school as teacher advisor. The statistical techniques used for this study were frequency, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and correlation. The major findings of this study were as follows; 1) The 4-H leaders had some role conflict and role ambiguity in guiding youth activities in the school. 2) The leader advisor group with teaching experience of $5{\sim}9$ years showed higher role conflict and lower role ambiguity. 3) The 4-H leaders with age over 45 felt higher role conflict and lower role ambiguity. 4)The leaders' self-efficacy was positively correlated with self esteem, and negatively associated with role ambiguity.

Association between Physical Activities and Subjective Well-being among Korea Adolescent (청소년의 신체활동과 주관적 행복감 간의 관련성)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between participation in physical activities (PA) and subjective well-being. Methods: We analyzed the data from Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, 2013 containing 36,655 and 35,780 for male and female students respectively. Study variables included PA, participation in physical education class, participation in team sports and subjective well-being. Control variables were school type, socio-economic status, level of parent education, living with parent, academic performance, delinquent behaviors, depression and perceived health. For this study, descriptive analysis, Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: Among boys, after adjusting for control variables, PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 4 times: OR 1.306), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.140), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.206) were associated with subjective well-being. Among girls, control variables were adjusted. PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs over 4 times: OR 1.244), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.161), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.181) were associated with subjective well-being. Conclusions: Participation in physical activities may help adolescent promote their life satisfaction. Thus, education experts should develop various exercise curriculums to encourage participation in physical activities.

Longitudinal Relationship between Addictive Use of Mobile Phones and Learning Activities for Elementary School Students : Multiple and Complex Group Analysis across Gender (초등학생의 휴대전화 중독적 사용과 학습활동의 종단적 관계 검증 : 성별 간 다집단 복합 분석)

  • The study aimed to examine the longitudinal relationship between addictive use of mobile phones and learning activities for elementary school students and to analyze (1)temporal changes of the addictive use of mobile phones and learning activities, (2)temporal relationship between them, and (3)multiple and complex group analysis across gender on the relationship. For the study, 3-year longitudinal data(2010-2012) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey and autoregressive cross-lagged modeling were used. The findings showed that the addictive use of mobile phones and learning activities had a significant positive effect on the future selves of children over time. The addictive use of mobile phones influenced positively subsequent learning activities, but, the learning activities did not affect the addictive use of mobile phones. Further, there were no significant gender differences in the longitudinal relationship. The study provided the useful data to make guidelines on how to protect mobile phone addiction for elementary school students.

Relationship between the Degree of Physical Activity and Oral Health Behaviors of Adolescents (청소년의 신체활동 정도와 구강건강행태와의 관계)

  • Background: The purpose of the present study was to confirm the degree of physical activity and oral health behaviors of adolescents, and to investigate the relationship between them. Methods: The present study utilized data from the 15th (2019) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey data, which included a total of 57,303 adolescents for analysis. Statistical analysis was performed using PASW Statistics 21.0. The significance level for significance was set at 0.05. Results: The rate of toothbrushing before sleeping was 1.152 times higher in the group that performed muscle strengthening exercises more than 3 times a week than in the group that did not (p < 0.001). The rate of use of oral hygiene products was 1.246 times higher in the group that performed physical activity for 60 min or more every day than in the group that did not, and 1.207 times higher in the group that performed muscle strength exercise at least 3 times a week than in the group that did not (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Adolescents who engaged in physical activities had a high rate of practice for some oral health behaviors. These results suggested that the group with positive health behaviors has a higher rate of oral health behavior practice, showing that health behaviors are highly interrelated.

  • The objectives of this study are to give a definition and to find out the background and the pursuits of Saenghwal Hanbok. Conclusions are described as follows : 1. Saenghwal Hanbok and Gaeryang Hanbok are used together at the same tome, but they are different the background and the pursuits. Gaeryang Hanbok was pursued practical aspects - activities, simplification, sanitation, courtesy, economy, and diversity. And then Saenghwal Hanbok was added the pursuits of Minjung's image, traditional image, modern esthetic. 2. The background of Saenghwal Hanbok is divided into two group. One is the Minjung Hanbok in University, and the other is the recreated Hanbok in mass fashion. The former was effected to youth culture, political quarrel of culture movement, anti-government group. The Latter was a tendency toward reviving the tradition. 3. The characters of Saenghwal Hanbok were a national tradition, a resistance. the image of poor Minjung, a revival of the tradition, and a diversity and negotiation of post-modernism.

A study on the Brain function specialty based on the Maladaptive Soldier by Brain waves analysis (뇌파분석을 통한 군복무 부적응 병사의 뇌기능 특징 연구)

  • This study focuses on observing the brain function characteristics of maladaptive soldiers, through EEG analysis. The number of subjects was 1,119 including 59 maladaptive soldiers, 60 normal soldiers and 1,000 civil youths. The EEG measurements were performed from Sep. 2013 to Jan. 2014. As a result of the study, first, the soldier group's BRQ, ATQ, EQ, ASQ and BQ values were significantly higher than civil youth's, on the contrary to SRQ, ACQ, CQ which were higher in civil youth group. Second, compared to normal soldiers, the values of EQ and BQ were meaningfully low in maladaptive soldiers group, as well as the average values of each 8 quotient. In conclusion, military service can be assumed to have a positive effect on brain function of all soldiers due to regular life cycle, usual physical activities and balanced nutrition, but less effect on maladaptive soldiers who are exempted from those strict life.

Factors of Korean Japanese youth's ethnic identity formation and its effect analysis (재일코리안 청소년의 민족정체성 형성요인과 효과 분석)

  • Currently, about 58 million Korean Japanese reside in Japan. To overcome the discrimination of the Japanese government and society, the previous generation of Korean Japanese had been maintaining a strong ethnic identity in Japan. But some of Korean Japanese adolescents were naturalized by the Japanese government's assimilation policy. As a result, Korean nationality disclaimer has been increasing. In this context, this study examines what is the determining factors of ethnic identity of Korean Japanese youth, and explores the effect of ethnic identity. The main results of this study are as follows. First, age, name, nationality, school, parental influence, and Korean language skills were confirmed as the determining factors of ethnic identity. Second, Strong ethnic identity of adolescents prevents from naturalization, increases lots of interests about Korea, and makes them positive participation in the Korean network.

A Study on the Effect of the 'Empowering Youth Program' ('청소년의 힘 북돋우기 프로그램'의 개발과 효과연구 - 창의적 사고를 통한 중학교 기술$\cdot$가정 교과의 '나와 가족의 이해' 단원 학습)

  • The present study attempts to develop the 'Empowering Youth Program' to enhance adolescents' creativity to address a variety of social and relationship issues and verify the effect of the program. The program consists of 12 sessions and each session employs a variety of activities and teaching methods to engender the students' interest. The subjects of this study were 262 middle school students in Seoul and Kyoun99i province. They were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. Several independent t-tests and ANCOVAs were performed for data analyses. The results of the analyses indicated that the 'Empowering Youth Program' was effective in both promoting adolescents' educational performance and enhancing their creativity. Furthermore, the program was found to be very effective in helping adolescents understand themselves, peers, and family members much better.

Validation of the physical activity classification table for Korean youth and assessment of total energy expenditure, estimated energy requirement and physical activity in Korean children and adolescents (한국 소아청소년을 위한 신체활동분류표의 타당도 평가 및 이를 이용한 일일 총에너지소비량, 에너지필요추정량과 신체활동 평가)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the first part of this study was to evaluate the validity of the physical activity classification table for youth (Youth-PACT). The second part of this study was aimed at comparing the estimated energy requirement (EER) with the total energy expenditure (TEE) and evaluating the physical activity patterns of Korean children and adolescents. Methods: The subjects of the first part of the study were 17 children aged 10 to 12 years, and their total energy expenditure (TEEDLW) was measured using the double labeled water (DLW) method. A total of 166 children and adolescents aged 6-18 years participated in the second part of this study. Their resting energy expenditure (REE) was measured using indirect calorimetry and the TEEYouth-PACT and physical activity level were calculated by applying the Youth-PACT to the physical activity diary prepared by the subjects. Results: In the first part of this study, there were no significant differences between the TEEDLW and the TEEYouth-PACT. The TEEYouth-PACT accurately predicted TEEDLW in 37.5% of the subjects. In the second part of the study, the rates at which EER accurately predicted TEE YouthPACT and overestimated TEE Youth-PACT were 29.6% and 47.3%, respectively. The time spent based on intensity of physical activity and the physical activity categories which were obtained using Youth-PACT showed different patterns according to sex and age group. Age showed significant positive correlations with REE, TEE, and the time spent in sedentary behavior, but age was significantly negatively correlated with REE/body weight, TEE/body weight, and the time spent in low-intensity and high-intensity activities. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the Youth-PACT can be used to evaluate the TEE and PAL of children and adolescents. However, further studies are needed to validate the TEEYouth-PACT and to set the EER for children and adolescents.
