  • We have investigated the vegetation in the peninsula located in Ongjeong-Li Seomyeon in Youngweol-gun. Since this is a limestone area, boxtrees, Abelia mosanensis T. H. Chung ex Nakai, and Selaginella stauntoniana Spring were abundant, as these are types of vegetation characteristic of limestone areas. Pinus densiflora S. et Z. was the most dominant woody plant, but vegetational changes, such as the dominance of Quercus variabilis Blume, Quercus dentata Thunb, and Quercus mongolica Fischer, were observed in spots. In particular, the growth of nursery plants of pinus densiflora S. et Z. was not observed, and young trees like Quercus mongolica Fischer grow as low vegetation of Pinus densiflora S. et Z.. Thus, the ecological succession of Quercus mongolica Fischer is predicted. Outside the investigation area, as herbaceous plants, various vegetations were observed, including Selaginella stauntoniana Spring, Thalictrum coreanum H. Lev., Mukdenia rossii(Oliv.) Koidz., Platanthera freynii Kraenzl., Cephalanthera longibracteata Blume, Potentilla dickinsii Franch., Patrinia rupestris(Pall.) Juss., Swertia pseudochinensis H. Hara, Vicia venosa(Willd.) Maxim., Pyrola japonica Klenze ex Alef., Disporum smilacinum A. Gray, Artemisia stolonifera(Maxim.) Kom. for. Stolonifera, Smilax nipponica Miq., Adenophora triphylla var. japonica(Regel) H. Hara, Isodon inflexus(Thunb.) Kudo, Gentiana scabra Bunge for. Scabra, Polygonatum odoratum var. pluriflorum(Miq.) Ohwi, Dioscorea quinqueloba Thunb., Syneilesis palmata(Thunb.) Maxim., Asparagus schoberioides Kunth, Eupatorium japonicum Thunb. ex Murray, Galium kinuta Nakai & Hara, Saxifraga fortunei var. incisolobata, Lilium amabile Palib., Siberian iris, Dictamnus dasycarpus Turcz., Atractylodes ovata(Thunb.) • As social diversity is increased recently, conflict between government and non-government organizations is also being increased. This conflict disturbs social development and also social cost to solve the conflict is very high. Therefore, it is necessary to set up a mediation organization which can draw reasonable decision making while minimizing social conflict. In this study, we compares Samangeum reclamation project and Youngweol dam case to find out how their recognition framings are formed, confronted, or adjusted and also how the process affects their conflict.

  • RAPD analysis using random primers were tried to evaluate the genetic variation and diversity of the nine garlic cultivars including two foreign varieties. Thirty-two primers out of 70 primers screened were used to amplify genomic DNA of garlic cultivars using polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Among a total of 151 bands amplified by 32 primers, 125 polymorphic bands were subjected to analysis for genetic relationship of garlic cultivars. The estimated size of amplified PCR products were in the range of 932 to 4,060 base pairs. Nine garlic cultivars were classified into two groups, such as group I corresponded to Changnyung and Hungary cultivars, and group II, Namdo, Sandong from China, Yecheon, Euiseong, Youngweol, Danyang, Jeongsun cultivars, with the genetic distance value of 0.271. The major ecological types of garlics, so called southern and northern types, was grouped in the genetic distance value of 0.200. The results presented in this study suggest that RAPD analysis are likely to be useful for identification of cultivars and evaluation of genetic origin in garlics.

  • Most of steam power plant in Korea are heating the feed water system to prevent freezing water flowing in the pipe in winter time. The heating system is operated whenever the ambient temperature around the power plant area below 5 degree Centigrade. But this kind of heat supplying system cause a lot of energy consuming. If we think about the method that the temperature of the each pipe is controled by attaching the temperature measuring sensor like RTD sensor and heat is supplied only when the outer surface temperature of the pipe is under 5 degree Centigrade, then we can save a plenty of energy. In this study, the computer program package for simulation is used to compare the energy consumption load of both systems. Energy saving rate is calculated for the location of Youngweol area using the data of weather station in winter season, especially the January' severe weather data is analyzed for comparison. Various convection heat transfer coefficients for the ambient air and the flowing water inside the pipe was used for the accurate calculation. And also the various initial flowing water temperature was used for the system. Steady state analysis is done previously to approximate the result before the simulation. The result shows that the temperature control system using RTD sensor represents the high energy saving effect which is more than 90% of energy saving rate. Even in the severe January weather condition, the energy saving rate is almost 60%.

  • Yeongweol sericite deposit of Gangwon Province is regarded as one of the sericite deposits derived from granitic rocks due to post-magmatic alkali metasomatism, and the other sericite deposit of the same origin is the Daehyun mine of Gyungbug Province. Sericite ores were originated from leucocratic granitic stocks of Cambrian-Triassic age which intruded the pegmatitic migmatite of the unknown age and granite of the Pre-cambrian age, respectivcly. Jangsan quartzite of the lowermost formations of the Paleozoic era, which played as the capping rock protected from the leakage of the hydrothermal solution. It is well known that those sericite deposits arc formed during formation of the geosyncline, and they are also situated in the margins of the Hambaeg Syncline. Leucocratic granites commonly contain pegmatites with tourmaline crystals, and are rich in potassium feldspars, and sodium plagioclase as well. Sericitized ores are mainly found as we go up to the higher elevations or to the margins of the stocks. And some of the Highest grade sericite ores show the monominerallic character composed of nearly pure sericite probably doc to the ultra greisenization. Chemical analysis shows higher $Na_{2}O$ and $K_{2}O$ contents $(2.00\sim7.03wt%)$ as the sericitizations arc preceded and they represent obvious greisenization. But low CaO contents $(0.05\sim4.51wt%)$ indicate that albitizations are so weak. Pyrophyllite of the Youngweol area is often accompanied by the sericite, indicating rather stronger thermal effect than the Daehyun mine. It is known that there are several Sn deposits originated from greisenization in the Taebaegsan region. And greisens are inclined to contain W, Mo and several REE's such as Be, Nb and Li, and so Taebaegsan region interbedded with lots of carbonate formations are still worthwhile to survey for those metallic deposits.

  • Uljin cassiterite deposit had been known to be a pegmatitic origin derived from the Wangpiri (Buncheon) granitic gneiss of Precambrian period. Lithium ore also shows the same origin and its lithium bearing mineral was ascertained to be a taeniolite. But the presence of leucocratic granites which played the role of host rocks haven't been clearly designated yet in these provinces. Even though Bonghwa and Youngweol sericite deposits situated in the vicinities of Hambaeg syncline had been known to have their host rocks as Hongjesa Granites of Precambrian period and Pegmatitic migmatite of unknown age respectively. But younger leucocratic granites are characterized by more amounts of albite and sericite (muscovite-3T type) than those of the older granitic rocks which contain plenty of biotite and chlorites. Although the younger granites show rather higher contents of alkalies such as $Na_2O$ (0.13~8.03 wt%) and $K_2O$ (1.71~6.38 wt%), but CaO (0.05~1.21 wt%) is very deficient due to the albitization and greisenization. Manisan granite, which is assumed to be Daebo granite which intruded the Gyunggi Gneiss Complex was again intruded by leucocratic granite whose microclinized part changed into kaolins. Taebaegsan region shows a wide distribution of carbonate rocks which are especially favorable to the ore depositions. And the presence of alkali granites which formed in the later magmatic evolution are well known to be worthwhile to the prospections of various rare metals and REEs resources.
