  • Therapeutic effect of Yinyang Balancing Appliance of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in tic disorder patients. Seventy tic disorder cases were managed with the Yinyang Balancing Appliance on temporomandibular joint (TMJ), combined with acupuncture. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures and overall clinical impressions. Patients showed a trend toward improvement by clinical observations. In some cases, such changes were visible even after the initial treatment, and this effect was observed to be maintained over the follow-up period. Further clinical and biological research on tic disorder is expected with respect to the FCST.

  • Objectives: Neurological examination on balance function is widely applied in clinical practice. Balance function may be clinically relevant to an assessment of yinyang balance in such therapies as temporomandibular joint balancing medicine. Fukuda stepping test is a relatively not-well-known method of balance function test. This study reviewed the procedures and criteria of Fukuda stepping test. Method: Recent articles on Fukuda stepping test were searched in public database (Pubmed, Proquest) and reviewed for its procedures and clinical implications. Results: Fukuda stepping test adopts 50 steps or 100 steps with subsequent assessment of the deviation or displacement of the subject. It may not be reliable during acute phase. Conclusion: Fukuda stepping test may be utilized and be further developed to assess balance function in the neurological management of functions.

  • Postural balance of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) reflects the neuromuscular balance. TMJ posture treatment for meridian yinyang balance has been asserted to have an impact upon cervical spine alignment with an episodic good clinical result for refractory torticollis cases. A retrospective study with one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted to review cervical spine imaging data and clinical symptom changes in cervical dystonia cases to explore the effect of TMJ balance treatment. Review of clinical symptoms and cervical spine imaging data including computed tomography and simple x-ray of 9 cervical dystonia cases revealed significant improvement of cervical spine alignment and clinical symptoms. Improvement of cervical spine alignment may be an underlying mechanism of TMJ balance treatment, as a way of balancing the whole-body meridian system.

  • Objectives: Therapeutic effect of Yinyang Balancing Appliance of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in cervical dystonia cases. Methods: Two cervical dystonia cases were managed with the Yinyang Balancing Appliance on temporomandibular joint (TMJ), combined with acupuncture. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures and clinical observations. Results: The patients showed positive changes even after the initial treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. Conclusions: Although it is not clear the effect is a sustaining or temporary in its nature, a positive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

  • Therapeutic effect of Yinyang Balancing Appliance (YBA) of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in a trigeminal neuralgia case. One Trigeminal neuralgia case was managed with YBA on temporomandibular joint (TMJ), combined with acupuncture. Clinical outcome measurement was performed by subjective rating and clinical observations. The patient's subjective rating and clinical symptoms showed improvement immediately after the initial treatment and this improvement maintained over the follow-up period. Although it is not clear whether the effect is temporary in its nature, a positive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

  • Objectives: Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy (FCST) is a rather new physiologic therapeutics. It has passed about two decades since its basic idea was founded. This study briefly reviewed its early history. Methods: The first FCST patient was a stroke patient in the year 1992. Basic ideas of FCST was devised one by one and later developed into a systematic clinical application. The first official lecture was held in the year 2004. Yinyang balance in the meridian-system-based network over the whole body was a mainstay idea. Results: As other stories on newly-developed therapeutics, there was an effort to make a breakthrough for difficult clinical problems, and followed by a creative initial idea along with incessant refinement in the early history of FCST. Conclusions: Patient-centered approaches was a mainspring in the development and refinement of FCST. History of FCST hereafter may well follow the trace.

  • Diagnostic evaluation methods frequently adopted in Temporomandibular Balancing Medicine (TBM) are briefly reviewed as to their basic concepts and procedures. TBM diagnostic evaluation methods may be classified into direct and indirect ones. Indirect methods are to observe any change in the manifestations with regard to the (1) posture, (2) pain, (3) muscle strength, and (4) stretching. Direct methods are to evaluate through (1) cervical palpation test, (2) restricted cervical rotation test, and (3) lateral cervical tension test. These methods may provide clinicians valuable information on the current yinyang balance and potential therapeutic factors in relation with the temporomandibular joint, a meridian system, and the whole body.

  • Objectives : Therapeutic effect of Balance Appliance of functional crebrospinal technique (FCST for meridian and neurologic yinyang balance was observed in two refractory torticollis cases. Methods : A unidentified severe torticollis two cases with several months of duration was managed by the Balance Appliance on temporomandibular joint (TMJ), combined with acupuncture and manual medicine. Results : Assessment was made by self assessment of subjective symptoms and clinical observation. The patient reported over-90% remission and returned to ordinary daily life after $3{\sim}5$ months of therapy, which effect was reported to maintain for 6 months. Conclusions : An impressive effect was observed and further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.
