  • Hull forms of Jiao Yi Ship for shipping and foreign trade in Silla and Tang Dynasty were transformed and developed in accordance to their voyage and rational routes. The trade ship was a sea ship, used by Chang Po Go's, the Silla great sea merchant ship, in the marine trade with China during the 8th and 9th century. It is not easy to presume the hull type and trade formal of Chang Po Go's Jiao Yi Ship of the 8th and 9th Century. Studying on the ship type of the trade ship is the urgent problem to be solved, in the sphere of leaning about the history of communication between China and Korea. The authors take the initial prove into this subjects, by researching Chang Po Go's marine activities, and point out that the trade ship's original type should be the Sha Ship which was the sea ship sailing th sea in northern China, in the Tang Dynasty. This study aims to present materials concerning hull forms of Chang Po Go's Jian Yi Ship by analysing ancient voyage history, foreign trade history, and ship history of Silla, Tang and Japan during the 8th and 9th century.

An analysis of foods used in the Royal parties during the latter half period of Yi Dynasty (조선왕조후기의 궁중연회음식의 분석적 고찰)

  • This study was designed to establish Korean food culture by analyzing 17 sets of Jinyounuigue, Jinchanuigue, and Jinjarkuigue which were the records of royal party procedures in Yi dynasty, Analysis was made on royal parties in terms of table setting, kinds of dishes served, composition of foods, frequency of the food materials used, and food items changed over the period from 1719 to 1902, the latter half period of Yi dynasty. Foods used in those parties were classified into seven groups in this study; rice and noodoes, side dishes, Docks, desserts, fruits and nuts, beverages, and sauces. There were about 10 kinds of steamed rice and noodles including Mandoo and Byungtang, 140 different kinds of side dishes, 53 kinds of Kocks, 142 kinds of various desserts, especially Dasik and Korean cookies, 38 kinds of fruits and nuts, 10 kinds of beverages including Hwachae and Sujeongkwa, and 10 kinds of sauces such as soy sauce, mustard, honey, and etc. There was no tendency in omission or addition of food materials, but the number and heights of dishes were designated by the scale or character of the party. There were unique measuring units that were quite different from metric system. More than 30 different units were appeared in the differences. Most of them were used for typical items such as Sari for noodles only. However some were quite general and used until now. Mal and Dye were the units for volume, Kwan and Kuen for weight, and Chock and Chon for length.

  • In order to understand Changeologically on the meaning of FCST's TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) treatment procedure, Yi, Shike, Bi, Gen trigrams concerning the jaw and change by treatment were analyzed from the viewpoint of semiotic context of hexagon and holistic interpretation on disease. Yi is meant by jaw but actually indicates mouth made by maxilla and mandible, and it's characters are related with nourishing by aliment and words. But when we eat and speak in the daily life, jaw does not nourish properly it's own body by bad habit or postures. For the treatment of this ill state, there needs punishment and correction symbolized with Shike. Shike has fourth nine meaning obstacles between the two strong lines in the upper and lower end, and so it has the function of mastication and get rid of the fourth nine metaphorically indicating subluxation of axis using CBA and auxiliary measures of four movement or laughing methods. Bi expresses the achievement and effects of consecutive mastication process implicating normalized manifestation of jaw and its linked spinal function. Gen symbolizes removing selfish motive or partiality in advance and reaches the best state of the saint righteously self-nourishable human being.

A Study on the Phenomenon of O. M. Ungers School in Germany (독일 건축의 O. M. 웅어스 스쿨 현상에 관한 연구)

  • Classic rationalist architecture came to play an important role in modern architectural discourse in the 1970s. But it has declined since the death of its most representative architects Aldo Rossi and O. M. Ungers. However, the phenomenon to be noted is that a new momentum was brought to the German architectural scene through some remarkable achievements by the disciples of Ungers after 2000. This study aims to read this phenomenon on the topography of german architecture and to catch out what potential it has to create balance in the international architectural debate. It is not the aim to analyze a single architect in detail, but to compare some important architects like Hans Kollhoff, Max Dudler, Eun-Young Yi and Uwe $Schr{\ddot{o}}der$. And further the study will try to give an overview of how far this phenomenon can change the topography of the German architectural scene. The buildings that have been examined here are Daimler Chrysler Building, Grimm Zentrum, Stuttgart City Library, and Haus Hundertacht. Through this study, it was found that some architects continue the attitude and the architectural languages of O. M. Ungers and develope their own unique architecture. And this phenomenon has the potential to influence todays architectural debate on a global scale.

Empirical Analysis of the Influence of Incentive Factors on University Teachers based on Grey Theory: The Case of LinYi University

  • Purpose - The objective of this paper is to identify how different incentive factors influence teachers with different ages and professional titles at LinYi University, China. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 435 university teachers participated in the study, and the Grey Correlation Degree Analysis method was used to analyze the sample data. Results - The results indicated that teachers with different professional titles and ages have different levels of preference on various incentive factors. Young and assistant-level teachers seem to place more importance on incentives than associate and senior-level teachers. Conclusions - This study has some practical implications. First, the principal and school administrators should pay more attention to young and middle-aged teachers and to how these teachers are motivated through monetary incentives as compared to associate or senior-level teachers. Second, school administrators should pay more attention to teachers' opportunities for career growth and should provide more opportunity for academic promotion. In order to stimulate positivity in teachers, school administrators should adopt various incentive systems.

Study on the Liquors of Yi-dynasty (조선시대 술의 분류적 고찰)

  • The purpose of this thesis was to understand the various kinds of Korean liquors. To do this, about fifty different kinds of liquors and wines presented in Yi-dynasty literatures were reviewed and classified into several categories. The findings of the study are as follows, 1, Liquors of Yi-dynasty can be classified into three groups; Chungju or Takju which is brewed from rice or glutinous rice, Jeungryuju(Soju) which is made by distillation of Chungju or Takju, and Hwahyangju that is made by addition of fruits, fragrance, or medicinal plants in Chungju, 2. The basic method of making these liquors is in general to make yeast first and fix a liquor base by mixing rice or glutinous rice and yeast, and then add more rice or glutinous rice into the liquor base, and finally ferment the mixture for certain periods. On fixing a liquor base, several methods of rice preparations were used; these were white rice cake, rice paste, boiled dough of rice powder, and steamed rice. 3. Duration of fermentation was in general one to three weeks. However, the shorter one was completed within 3 days and the longer one required even one year or more. 4. Of Hwahyangju the ones with medicinal plants can be divided into several groups according to their medical effects; wines for mental and emotional stability, making blood and active circulation, increase in body stamina, promoting health and living long-life, treatment of stomachache and bruise, and enhancement of the functions of body organs, especially eyes ana ears.5. These liquors and wines above were brewed for daily use or special occasions (Sesiju).

  • Tough study of movement of Tae-Geuk-Guan(太極拳), we understand Tae-Geuk-Guan(太極拳) & essential movement. Theory about creator of Tae-Geuk-Guan(太極拳) is indistinct. there are Jangsampung-theory(張三豊設), Wangjongak-theory(王宗岳設), Jinwangjung-theory(陳王廷設), Jinbok-theory(陳卜設). Tae-Geuk-Guan(太極拳) is military arts developed before Song empire(宋). Tae-Geuk-Guan(太極拳) has many branch.(Jin-sik陳式, Yang-sik楊式, Mu-sik武式 O-sik吳式, Son-sik孫式) Tae-Geuk-Guan'(太極拳) manual movement use fist(拳), palm(掌), hook shape(鉤) and its using form has many type like Bung, Yi, Jae, An, Chae, Yul, Ju, Go. Its gait has many type like Sang-bo(上步), Tae-bo(退步), Jin-bo(進步), Deng-gak, Bun-gak(分脚), Bak-gak(拍脚). Essential theory of Tae-Geuk-Guan(太極拳) is Yi-Sim-Hang-Gi(以心行氣) & Yi-Gi-Un-Sin(以氣運身). It means mind(心) moves qi(氣) and qi(氣) moves body(身).

  • In Dongeuibogam "東醫寶鑑", Qian Yi(錢乙)'s had been reorganized in more elaborated ways, comprising Ju dan Gae(朱丹溪)'s 'Yang is always sufficient and Yin is always deficient theory(陽有餘陰不足論) and Li Dong Yuan(李東垣)'s 'Theory of the Spleen and Stomach(脾胃論)'. In organizing the contents, 5 Organs(五臟) were mostly concerned especially 'the Heart, the Fire (心火) and the Kidney, the Water(腎水)' as the axis and 'the Spleen and Stomach(脾胃)' as the center of 5 Organs. Based on this concept, the patterns of disharmonies were categorized and the table of content was organized. In this book, 'Deficiency-Excess and Nourishing-Draining(虛實補瀉)'is the basic treatment rule and the concept of 'Yin and Yang(陰陽)' and 'Exterior and Interior(表裏)' is considered to help tell the prognosis. This book has importance of systemizing Qian Yi(錢乙)'s , which was previously mentioned in Hyangyakjipseongbang("鄕藥集成方"),Euibangyoochui("醫方類聚"), Euirimchyalyo("醫林撮要"), by comprising the theories of Jin Yuan Si Da J ia -the four great masters of the Jin Yuan Dynasties(金元四大家).

  • By studying disease classifications of oriental medicine from Nei-Ching, Chao's-Bing-Yuan, Dong-Yi-Bao-Jian and Korea-standard classification of causes of disease & death. The results were obtained as follows : 1. In Nei-Ching 181 kinds, Chao's-Bing-Yuan 1729 kinds, Dong-Yi-Bao-Jian 966 kinds, and Korea-standard classification of causes of disease & death 2519 kinds of diseases, which suggested more diseases as time flew. 2. In classical books such as Nei-Ching, Chao's-Bing-Yuan, and Dong-Yi-Bao-Jian most of diseases and their names were originated from six kinds of pathogenic factors, Zang-Fu, Jung-Qi-Blood-Fluid, soul, and outer-body-signs, while Korea-standard classification of causes of disease & death classified diseases according to oriental medical departments. 3. Symptoms of Cold-Heat-Excess-Deficiency and pathogenic factors, body parts, Zang-Fu were applied to names of diseases in oriental medicine. 4. In oriental medicine, some symtoms, many intermal diseases were used as disease name, but it is necessary for us to select exact name of diseases in modem clinical treatment. 5. We should consider disease names in Korea-standard classification of causes of disease & death in relations with western medical terms of diseases.

Meanings of 'Ethical Relationships between Husband and Wife' by Means of Family Life Education in the Joseon Dynasty : Focusing on Yi Duk-Hong's Bubuyubyeoldo (조선시대 가족생활교육에서 '부부유별'의 의미 : 간재 이덕홍의 「부부유별도」를 중심으로)

  • The aim of this study was to grasp the context of family life education under the Joseon Dynasty. As a first step to attain this goal, we used Yi Duk-Hong's Bubuyubyeoldo as our main material and examined the meaning of 'bubuyubyeol'(夫婦有別) in family life education as it was defined during the Joseon Dynasty. As a result, we found that 'bubuyubyeol' implied the strict avoidance of the opposite sex in the relationship between a couple and others as well as within the marital relationship. We also determined that in the family life education, 'bubuyubyeol' was closely related to 'bujayuchin'(父子有親), a concept that refers to the ethical relationship between parents and children. This concept also, formed the basis of social relationships. These results imply that contemporary family life education will be more effective and efficient 1) when it presupposes a common basic concept pertaining to the contents of object-specific education as well as overall family life education, and 2) when direct education programs are executed in harmony with indirect education.
