Cheonggukjang was prepared from soybean inoculated with B. licheniformis ATCC 10716 cells transformed with pHY3-5 carrying a fibrinolytic enzyme gene. During the 54 hr of fermentation at $37^{\circ}C$, fibrinolytic activities of cheonggukjang were significantly higher than cheonggukjang fermented with B. licheniformis 10716 control cells. The plasmid, pHY3-5 was stably maintained during the 54 hr without antibiotic selection and more than 52% of cells retained the plasmid.

Genetic chracterstics of the structural gene of guamerin (a novel elastase inhibitor from Korean leech), integrated into the HIS4 locus of chromosomal DNA of Pichia pastoris along with the $\alpha$-factor leader sequence, were investigated. In the selected clone from candidates, two copies of the integration cassette including the structural gene copies of the integration cassette including the structural gene of guamerin were found in the integration site of the chromosomal DNA of P.pastoris. It was demonstrated that the integrated structural gene of guamerin was stable up to about 70 generations in the relay flask culture. Then, a high-cell-density culture could be fulfilled easily by DO-stat fed-batch culture, in which the cell growth and the recombinant guamerin production reached about 250 of OD600nm and 260 mg/l, respectively. Finally, it was revealed that the DNA sequence of the integrated structural gene of guamerin in P. pastoris was maintained correctly in the end of production cells of relay flask culture and high-cell-density culture.

This study was conducted to investigate the geochemical factors governing the distribution of heavy metals(Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in the marine surface sediment samples collected from the Samcheonpo coal-fired power plant. Variations of absolute metal concentrations were related to those in textural and/or carbonate and organic matter content. Most elements, except for Pb, showed generally lower contents compared with the average shale concentration, and the effect of anthropogenic input appeared to be minimal in the sediments. Computations of LF%(labile fraction) and EF(enrichment factor) based on all trace metal data indicated the presence of mineralogical control for Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Zn, and anthropogenic contamination for Pb, which needs to be considered in the design of long term monitoring programmes.

With the results of observations in 2013 and 2014 including ocean buoys, in-situ investigations and wind data, we examined the spatio-temporal variation of cold water masses along the eastern coast of Korea. Usually, a cold water mass first appears along the northern part of the eastern coast from May to July, and then along the southern part of the eastern coast from late June to mid-August. Cold water masses appear 3~5 times a year and remain for 5~20 days in the southwestern part of the East Sea. A distinctive cold water mass appeared usually in mid-July in this area, the surface temperature of which was below $10^{\circ}C$ in some cases. During the appearance of a cold water mass in the southwestern part of the East Sea, the horizontal temperature gradient was large at the surface and a significant low water temperature below $8^{\circ}C$ appeared at the bottom level. This appearance of cold water masses clearly corresponded to southwesterly winds, which generated coastal upwelling.

Bacillus subtilis CH3-5 was isolated from cheonggukjang prepared according to traditional methods. CH3-5 secreted at least four different fibrinolytic proteases (63, 47, 29, and 20 kDa) into the culture medium. A fibrinolytic enzyme gene, aprE2, encoding a 29kDa enzyme was cloned from the genomic DNA of CH3-5, and the DNA sequence determined. aprE2 was overexpressed in heterologous B. subtilis strains deficient in extracellular proteases using a E. coli-Bacillus shuttle vector. A 29 kDa AprE2 band was observed and AprE2 seemed to exhibit higher activities towards fibrin rather than casein.

In this research, I performed rainfall monitoring by selecting the spot which can represent high altitude cool farm region in recent 3 years, and tried to understand the characteristic of outflow of non-point pollutants coming from high altitude cool farm region. As a result, it was shown that reducing rainfall runoff in highland farm area can reduce non-point pollution load and should consider priority to reduce runoff through management resources when selecting abatement method. Additionally, it is judged that reduction method related to base run-off should be selected by performing research on material motion of TN.

3,4-Dimethyl-N-[4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-{(pyrazolylmethyl)oxy}phenyl]maleimides or 3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-N-[4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-{(pylazolylmethyl)oxy} phenyl]phthalimides were prepared and evaluated their herbicidal activities under paddy conditions. Those compounds which have N-methyl-5-pyrazolylmethyloxy moiety showed good tolerance in transplanted rice and strong herbicidal activities on barnyardgrass below 60 g/ha of dose.

The development of Morgagni hernias is related to malformations of the embryologic septum transversum after failure of the sternal and costal fibrotendinous elements of the diaphragm to fuse. The overall incidence of Morgagni hernias among all congenital diaphragmatic defects is 3% to 4%. Inguinal hernias are the most common hernias in males and females (25% and 2%, respectively). An inguinal hernia is defined as a protrusion of the abdominal cavity contents through the inguinal canal. The combination of Morgagni and inguinal hernias is rare, and treatment using laparoscopic surgery has not been previously reported. This case presents a one-stage laparoscopic repair of Morgagni and inguinal hernias in a 2-month-old male.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of discharge planning on patient satisfaction, the readmission rate and preparedness for discharge in the elderly admitted to the emergency room (ER) for pulmonary disease. Methods: A quasi-experimental intervention study design was used. Older adults with pulmonary health problems in the ER in one general hospital were randomly allocated to either an experimental (n=21, 74.2 years) or control group (n=19, 70.7 years). The experimental group participated in a discharge planning program by a geriatric nurse practitioner. Data were collected from medical records, physical measurements and structured questionnaires including information on demographics, patient satisfaction, readmission, and preparedness for discharge. Results: Participants in the experimental group had significantly better outcomes with regard to patient satisfaction with nursing services (p=.003) and preparedness for discharge (p=.034). However, there was no significant effect on the readmission rate (p=.392) Conclusion: The results suggested that a discharge planning program could bolster nursing service satisfaction and preparedness for discharge in older patients admitted to the ER for pulmonary health problems. To clarify the effects of discharge planning on older patients admitted to the ER, a larger sample population, better instruments for various measures, a new manual on discharge planning and frequent follow-up will be necessary.

KaVA(KVN and VERA Array)는 KVN 3기, 일본 VERA 4기로 구성되어 있다. 더 나아가 일본의 JVN, 중국의 CVN으로 확장한다면 동아시아에 더 많은 기선들이 존재한다. 각 전파망원경은 천문학자의 연구수요, 디지털 백엔드(Back-end) 시스템 기술수준에 의해 각기 다른 다양한 자료구조를 이용한다. 이와 함께, 현재 전파천문관측은 디지털 백엔드 시스템의 발달로 2Gbps 관측이 주를 이루고 있으며 32Gbps 시험 관측이 이루어지고 있다. 이에 한일상관센터는 이런 다양한 자료구조와 관측 대역폭을 지원하기 위해 KaVA용 디지털필터를 개발하고 있다. 기존에 개발된 CPU기반의 디지털필터를 연산속도와 자료 입출력 대역폭을 상당히 높인 GPU 기반 디지털필터로 업그레이드하고 있다. 본 발표는 GPU를 활용한 KaVA용 디지털 필터 개발에 관하여 소개하고자 한다.
