Optimization of a Passively Q-switched Yb:YAG Laser Ignitor Pumped by a Laser Diode with Low Power and Long Pulse Width

  • We successfully constructed a passively Q-switched Yb:YAG laser ignitor pumped by a diode laser with low power and long pulse width. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to achieve a quasi-MW output power from an optimized Q-switch Yb:YAG laser ignitor by using a pumping diode laser module emitting at under a power of 23 W. The output pulse energy of our optimized laser is 0.98 mJ enclosed in a 1.06 ns pulse width, corresponding to a peak power of 0.92 MW.

  • 란탄나이드 3가 [Sm(Ⅲ), Tb(Ⅲ), and Yb(Ⅲ)]와 유기리간드들의 착물을 비수용매 속에서 전기화학적인 DC 및 DP 폴라로그래피 그리고 CV방법으로 조사하였다. 란탄나이드 3가 착물들은 Ag/AgCl 전극에서 이들 환원 peak는$ E_{pc}$ = -0.16 V, -0.35 V, -0.14 V와 그리고 -0.03 V의 비가역적인 일전자환원 과정이었고, 무거운 란탄나이드의 거동은 원자번호가 증가함에 따라서 안정도상수는 Sm > Tb > Ho > Yb순서로 감소하였다

  • Undoped YCa$_4$O(BO$_3$)$_3$ (sp. gr. Cm) single crystals as well as singly or co-doped with Yb, Er and Ce were grown using Czochralski technique. With the aid of x-ray analysis, crystallographic data of Ce, Er, Yb:YCA$_4$O(BO$_3$) crystals were found.

Numerical Simulation of Soliton-like Pulse Formation in Diode-pumped Yb-doped Solid-state Lasers

  • We numerically solve the nonlinear Schrödinger equation for pulse propagation in a passively mode-locked Yb:KGW laser. The soliton-like pulse formation as a result of balanced negative group-delay dispersion (GDD) and nonlinear self-phase modulation is analyzed. The cavity design and optical parameters of a previously reported high-power Yb:KGW laser were adopted to compare the simulation results with experimental results. The pulse duration and energy obtained by varying the small-signal gain or GDD reproduce the overall tendency observed in the experiments, demonstrating the reliability and accuracy of the model simulation and the optical parameters.

High Power 1.83 GHz Femtosecond Yb-doped Fiber Laser Incorporating Repetition Rate Multipliers

  • A high-power Yb-doped femtosecond (fs) fiber laser at a repetition rate of 1.83 GHz is reported. By employing a 5-stage repetition rate multiplier, the repetition rate of the mode-locked master oscillator was multiplied from 57.1 MHz to 1.83 GHz. The ultrashort pulse output at 1.83 GHz was amplified in a two-stage Yb-doped fiber amplifier, leading to >100 W of fs laser output with a pulse duration of 290 fs. The theoretical pulse width along the fiber was simulated, showing that it was in good agreement with experimental results. Further improvement in power scaling is discussed.
