  • Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has emerged as an effective therapy for a variety of thoracic aortic pathologies. However, various types of endoleak remain a major concern, and its treatment is often challenging. We report a case of type I endoleak occurring 19 months after zone II hybrid TEVAR. The endoleak was successfully repaired by the frozen elephant trunk technique, without removal of a previous stent graft, combined with ascending aorta and total arch replacement.

  • Despite the remarkable developments in neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures, the optimal treatment for large or giant partially thrombosed aneurysms with a mass effect remains controversial. The authors report a case of a partially thrombosed aneurysm with a mass effect, which was successfully treated by stent-assisted coil embolization. A 41-year-old man presented with headache. Brain computed tomography depicted an $18{\times}18$ mm sized thrombosed aneurysm in the interpeducular cistern. More than 80% of the aneurysm volume was filled with thrombus and the canalized portion beyond its neck measured $6.8{\times}5.6$ mm by diagnostic cerebral angiography. Stent-assisted endovascular coiling was performed on the canalized sac and the aneurysm was completely obliterated. Furthermore, most of the thrombosed aneurysm disappeared in the interpeduncular cistern was clearly visualized follow-up brain magnetic resonance imaging conducted at 21 months. The authors report a case of selective coiling of a large, partially thrombosed basilar tip aneurysm.

  • Purpose: To measure the differences of the splint pin angulation and the position of the planned implant site after conventional tomographic analysis. Materials and Methods: The angulation and the location of the metal splint pin retained in acrylic stent were compared with the corrected angulation and the location of the implant fixture on the 331 tomographic images. Results: The stent pins were located buccal in 40%, lingual in 10% to the corrected implant site after analysis of the conventional tomographic image. The angle and the location of the maxillary splint pin were mainly directed buccal on incisor and canine regions. The angle and the location of the splint pins in premolar and molar regions needed less corrections in both maxilla and mandible. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the use of tomographs was essential for successful dental implant planning.

  • Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) is a rare, serious complication of carotid revascularization either after carotid endarterectomy or carotid stent placement. Although extensive effort has been devoted to reducing the incidence of CHS, little is known about the prevention. Postprocedural hypertension is very rare due to autoregulation of carotid baroreceptors but may occur if presented with autonomic dysfunction. We present two cases of CHS after cerebral revascularization that presented autonomic dysfunction.

  • For high-risk patients, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a good option but may lead to serious complications, which should be addressed immediately. A 75-year-old man with a history of abdominal surgery underwent EVAR for an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries. During EVAR, iliac artery rupture and graft limb occlusion occurred, and they were successfully managed by the additional deployment of an iliac stent graft and balloon thrombectomy, respectively. We, herein, report a rare case of the simultaneous development of the two fatal complications treated by the endovascular technique.

  • Bare metal stents which were used to treat coronary artery disease have several biochemical problems. Polymerbased drug-eluting stents (DES) have opened up a new paradigm in the treatment of in-stent restenosis. Many studies and research programmes have proved that DES can prevent restenosis. In our study, paclitaxel-loaded poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles have been deposited along the three dimensional scaffold of coronary stents by a method using self-assembling properties of colloidal particles. We found that the nanoparticles were deposited uniformly and closely packed. The amount of paclitaxel was easily controlled by the drug content of the nanoparticles and the deposition count.

  • Tracheal stenosis induced from the various causes has still remained as a serious problem in the otolaryngologic field. There has been used the numerous methods in the treatment of the tracheal stenosis and the each case has required the therapeutic modality. Now, we report two cases of tracheal stenosis ; one case had been used the silicone T - tube in the tracheal stenosis after tracheostomy in 6 year - old child and the other one had been used the silicone tube stent with oral mucosa graft in the treatment of the tracheal narrowing due to inflammatory mass in 19 year - old male patient.

  • Subclavian vein thrombosis in thoracic outlet syndrome is an uncommon disease. Thrombolysis, venoplasty with a balloon and stent insertion are needed for treating this condition. Sometimes, trans-axillary first rib resection is also needed. We report here on a case of subclavian vein thrombosis that was successfully treated with the medial calviculectomy, internal jugular vein transposition and stent insertion.
