The Effect of Different Reaction Path on the Microstructure of the Melt Processed Y-Ba-Cu-O Superconducting System (서로 다른 반응경로에 따른 일방향 용융공정된 Y-Ba-Cu-O계 Bulk초전도체의 미세구조 고찰)

  • 초기 혼합분말을 다르게 사용함으로써 다른 반응경로를 따라 성장된 일방향 집합조직 YB $a_{2}$BaCu $O_{5}$(Y211)형상과 분포가 초기 혼합분말이 달라짐에 따라 상당히 다르게 형성되었다. 여러 반응경로 중에서 $Y_{2}$ $O_{3}$+Y123$\longrightarrow$ $Y_{1.6}$Ba/ sub 2.2/ $O_{y}$와 ( $Y_{2}$ $O_{3}$BaCu $O_{2}$)+Y123$\longrightarrow$ $Y_{1.6}$B $a_{2.3}$C $u_{3.3}$ $O_{y}$반응에 의하여 용융공정된 경우 일방향 집합조직 Y 123 결정 성장이 잘 일어났으며, 특히 Y123의 포정반응 온도 이하의 낮은 온도에서도 결정성장이 일어났다. 또한 Y211입자 미세화가 다른 반응에 의한 용융공정보다 잘 일어났다. 이와같은 서로 다른 반응과정에 의하여 용융공정된 미세구조의 차이점들을 $Y_{2}$ $O_{3}$-BaO-CuO 3원계 상평형도를 이용하여 설명하였다.다.다.다.다.다.다.

Parameters to Affect the Cirtical Characteristics of YBaCuO Bulk Prepared by MPMG (MPMG법을 이용한 YBaCuO 초전도체의 임계특성에 영향을 미치는 파라미터)

  • This paper shows the parameters to affect the critical characteristic of YBaCuO superconducting bulk fabricated by MPMG (Melt Powdered Melt Growth)process. In order to investigate proper processing variables, the effect of the holding time at the melting temperature and that of the slow cooling time in $O_2\; ambient\; on\; the\; J_c$ were experimented. And then with the above obtained heat treatment conditions, the effects of addition of $Y_2BaCuO_5\; and\; Ag\; on\; the\; J_c$ were also investigated. A proper slow cooling time yields phase transformation from Tetragonal $(YBa_2Cu_3O_6)$ to Orthorhombic $(YBa_2Cu_3O_7)$ during an annealing time in $O_2$. Ag addition plays a role in increasing the $T_c\; and\; the J_c$, but the magnetization decreases. The $J_c$ and the magnetization increase with addition of Y211. $J_c$ of the sample added Ag 10wt% is superiorover 3000 G. Proper holding time, slow cooling time and amount of impurity addition are important parameters in fabricating the YBaCuO bulk by MPMG process with high $J_c$.

Magnetic Force Properties of Superconducting Bulk (초전도 벌크의 자기적 특성을 위한 간편한 시스템)

  • To improve superconductor properties, the size of the crystal grains of the superconductor should be adjusted, the amount of electricity flowing through the superconductor should be increased, and the superconductor should be designed to withstand external magnetic fields. It is necessary to control the microstructure so that many flux pinning centers are developed inside the superconductor so that defects are generated physically or chemically, and the micro secondary phase for trapped magnetic flux must be dispersed inside the superconductor. In order to measure the superconducting magnetic force of the superconducting bulk in a simplified manner, the superconducting magnetic force was analyzed using an Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet of 3.80 kG. In particular, by delaying the growth of partially melted Y2BaCuO5 particles, we devised a plan to refine Y2BaCuO5 particles to effectively improve superconducting magnetic force, and analyzed superconducting magnetic force in a single crystal YBa2Cu3O7-y superconducting bulk using a gauss meter. The melted superconducting bulk traps 80% or more of the applied magnetic field, and can be used as a bulk magnet of high magnetic field magnetization applicable to electric power equipment.

Superconducting Properties of NdBCO Bulk HTS (NdBCO 벌크 HTS 초전도 특성)

  • The conditions of zone-melting method such as a sample travel speed in a furnace, content of Nd422, control of melting temperature, and heat-treatment with/without Ar gas for $NdBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$ superconductor was optimized, As a results, a $NdBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$ sample with a surface area of $25mm^{2}$ showed a good superconducting properties when its travel speed was 6 mm/h, The improvement of superconductivity added with 10~20 wt% of Nd422 phase increasing pinning effect was also shown. The critical current density, $J_{c}$ was remarkable affected by the condition of heat-treatment temperature of $NdBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$superconductor with/without Ar ambient gas.

  • For the practical application of a YBCO superconductor bulk, the superconductor bulk magnet with high magnetic field on a large area surface should be fabricated. To make this, YBCO single crystal bulks with fine $Y_2BaCuO_5$(Y211) particles have been prepared by the top-seed melt growth(TSMG) method with $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$, $Y_2O_3$, and $CeO_2$ mixing precursor. By using $Y_2O_3$ instead of $Y_2BaCuO_5$ as precursor, the manufacturing process became simpler and more economical. The microstructures, trapped field and critical current density of the various conditioned YBCO bulks have been observed, analyzed and measured. The different characteristic values of the several samples have been analyzed from the viewpoint of their microstructures. We have developed a $8{\times}12cm$ size superconductor bulk magnet, up to 3 T class, by using the 4 T class-high field superconducting magnetizer and confirmed the applicability of the transmission level circuit breakers by measuring the strength and speed of the superconductor bulk magnet actuator.

  • The Effects of different melting temperature and holding time in the melting temperature on J$\sub$c/ of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$\sub$x/ based superconducting bulk using MPMG process were investigated. the value of critical current density was the largest at l120$^{\circ}C$, the melting temperature which is appointed to the mid point of (Y$_2$BaCuO$\sub$5/ + Liquid)region. With the melting temperature in which the value of J$\sub$c/ is the largest, J$\sub$c/ was again measured to see whether the holding time at this proper melting temperature has the effect on the critical characteristics. From the result above it was concluded that the melting temperature and holding time were important to improve the J$\sub$c/ and the formation of the Y$_2$BaCuO$\sub$5/. In this paper, the melting temperature obtained was l120$^{\circ}C$ and propel holding time could be obtained as 20 minute and the more holding time was not effective in the J$\sub$c/ improvement as well as the formation of Y$_2$BaCuO$\sub$5/.

Magnetic Properties of $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ Bulk Superconductors Fabricated by a Top-seeded Melt Growth Process (종자 결정 성장법으로 제조된 $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ 벌크 초전도체의 자기적 특성)

  • The fabrications condition and superconducting properties of top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) processed $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ (Gd123) bulk superconductors were studied. Processing parameters (a maximum temperature ($T_{max}$), a temperature for crystal growth ($T_G$) and a cooling rate ($R_G$) through a peritectic temperature ($T_P$) for the fabrication of single grain Gd123 superconductors were optimized. The magnetic levitation forces, trapped magnetic fields, superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) and critical current density ($J_c$) of the Gd123 bulks superconductors were estimated. Single grain Gd123 bulk superconductors were successfully fabricated at the optimized processing condition. The $T_c$ of a TSMG processed Gd123 sample was 92.5 K and the $J_c$ at 77 K and 0 T was approximately $50kA/cm^2$. The trapped magnetic field contour and magnetic levitation forces were dependent on the top surface morphology of TSMG processed Gd123 samples. The single grain Gd123 samples, field-cooled at 77 K using a Nd-B-Fe permanent magnet with 5.27 kG and 30 mm dia., showed the trapped magnetic field contour of a single grain with a maximum of 4 kG at the sample center. The maximum magnetic levitation forces of the single grain Gd123 sample, field-cooled or zero field-cooled, were 40 N and 107 N, respectively.

The Improvement of MTG Process for Preparation of YBCO superconductor

  • In the YBCO matrix, 10wt.% Y$_2$BaCuO$\_$5/ (211 phase) was added, the final 211 content of YBCO made by MTG process could reach about 20wt.% which was the optimum value for the critical current density. And also 10wt.% Ag was added in the matrix of YBCO, which was nearly about the saturate solubility of silver in textured YBCO. SmBaCuO crystal was grown by the melted-condensed process. A 5${\times}$5${\times}$2㎣ single crystal of SmBaCuO was used to be the seed in the preparation of YBCO. It was proved the orientation of YBCO was the same as the orientation of the SmBaCuO seed. The oxygen absorption of bulk oriented YBCO was studied and the heat treatment of oxygen absorption would be in flowing oxygen, at 400$^{\circ}C$ for about 24 hours. the magnetic hysteresis loops were measured by Vibrating Smaple Magnetometer and the J$\_$c/ was calcuated by means of Bean's model.

Electric Properties of High-Tc Ceramic Superconductor for Breaker (차단기 적용을 위한 초전도체의 합성)

  • This aim of this study was to develop a process for creating bulk single-crystal YBaCuO superconductors in a high magnetic field. To support the bulk unidirectional growth of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$, $SmBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ seeds were planted inside YBaCuO composites and samples were produced by melting, enabling the growth of two YBaCuO superconductors. Due to the magnetism generated inside the superconductor of the upper sample, the magnetization inside the superconducting single crystals was evenly distributed, the sharpness of the induced magnetic force was improved, and the superconducting magnetization were significantly improved. This approach is widely applicable for the production of superconducting wires and current leads used for DC power breakers.
