Comparative Measurement of Transverse Nuclear Magnetization of Polarized 129Xe and 131Xe by Spin-exchange Optical Pumping

  • We analyze the transverse nuclear magnetizations of 129Xe and 131Xe in a vapor cell containing natural Xe, 87Rb, and buffer gases. Th e Xe atoms are polarized th rough spin-exch ange optical pumping (SEOP) with Rb atoms under low-magnetic-field conditions. From the free-induction-decay (FID) signal, we measure the nuclear magnetization of the Xe atoms in the Xe-Rb vapor cell. Furthermore, we measure the dependence of the gyromagnetic ratio on the magnetization of 129Xe and 131Xe by examining the amplitude of the FID signal of each isotope, and we evaluate the relationship between the magnetic field gradient and transverse relaxation rate for both of the 129Xe and 131Xe isotopes.

  • 용량이행형 방전회로를 이용하여 장펄스 XeCl 엑시머 레이저를 발진 시켰으며, 펄스폭은 150ns(FWHM)이었다. 펄스폭에 영향을 미치는 가스분압 및 capacitance의 비에 따른 펄스폭의 변화를 관측 하였으며, 이로부터 단펄스에서 장펄스로의 발진을 쉽게 얻을 수 있음을 알았다. 일정 가tm 혼합 비율([Xe]/[HCl]=15)의 상태에서 HCl과 Xe가스의 분압이 감소함에 따라 광 펄스폭의 최대 변화량은 125ns이었고, 일정 압력 하에서의 capacitance비(Cm/Cp) 변화에 늘어나는 광 펄스폭의 변화량은 60ns이었다.

  • In whole world consciousness of environment maintenance have increased very quickly for the end of the 20th century. To use and disuse toxic substances have been controled at the field of industry. Also the field of lighting source belong to environmental control. And in the future the control will be strong. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mercury is the worst environmental problem and root. In the mercury free lighting source system the Xe gas lamp is one type. And the Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar mixed gas lamp improve firing voltage of Xe gas lamp. Purpose of this study is to understand ideal mixing-ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar gas by electron temperature and electron density for mercury free lamp. Before ICP was designed, basic parameters of plasma, which are electron temperature and electron density, were measured and calculated by single-Langmuir probe. Property of electron temperature and electron density were confirmed by changing ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar.

  • The discharge characteristics of He-Ne-Xe gas mixture with the variation of Xe content are investigated through the numerical simulation. VUV efficacy in the gas condition of low Xe content increases due to more excitation and the case of high Xe content shows the improvement of VUV efficacy with the increase of He content but decreased VUV efficacy after tthe He mixing ratio of He and Ne is 0.5 due to frequent ionization.

  • The optimal mixing condition of four components gas(Ne,Xe,He,Ar) in PDPs was caculated by a numerical simulation method. The dominated reactions in which $Xe^*(^3P_1)$ is produced and decays were investigated in three components gas (Ne,Xe,He) and our new components gas (Ne,Xe,He,Ar). A peak point of $Xe^*$ density appears in the range of 0.1% to 2% of Ar mixture ratio. The results of simulation show that the direct exitation of Xe by electrons has the greatest influence on the inceasing $Xe^*$ density in both gas mixtures.

  • In this study, we analyzed the luminous efficiencies of Ne-Xe-Ar and He-Ne-Xe-Ar mixing gas in compared with those of Ne-Xe and He-Ne-Xe mixing gas to improve luminous efficiency by adding a small amount of Ar gas. At the Xe 4%, the brightness of Ne-Xe and He-Ne-Xe mixing gas is higher than others. As the Xe % increases, power consumption decreases. Thus, in the Ne-Xe and He-Ne-Xe mixing gas of Xe 4%, we obtained maxium luminous efficiency. The Ar concentration is varied from 0.1% to 0.7% in this study. The luminous efficiency of the Ne-Xe(4%) mixing gas is improved to 1.16 and 1.13 lm/W by adding an Ar concentration of 0.4% and 0.5%, respectively. The luminous efficiency of the He-Ne-Xe(4%) (He : Ne = 7 : 3) mixing gas is considerably improved by adding an Ar concentration of above 0.3%. The maximum luminous efficiency of this mixing gas is 1.38 lm/W at the condition of adding an Ar concentration of 0.5%.

The effect of Gas Mixture Ratio on Discharge Characteristics of an AC PDP Cell

  • Experimental measurements are reported and compared with the results of a two-dimensional fluid simulation for the investigation of the discharge characteristics regarding the change of the mixture ratio of Ne-Xe-He noble gases. The increase of Xe contents results in the increases of luminance and luminous efficiency while it also results in the increase of the breakdown voltage and the discharge time lag. The addition of He gas increases the brightness and the luminance efficiency. When Xe partial pressure is low, the luminance efficiency increases with the amount of He at the same total pressure. When Xe partial pressure is high, however, the luminance efficiency has a maximum value when the partial pressure of He is about 10% of the total pressure for a standard AC PDP cell with Xe fraction of $10{\sim}30%$.

Influence of gas mixing ratio on Xe spectrum for improving Luminous Efficiency & High Speed discharge images in AC-PDP

  • 본 연구에서는 2성분계 gas(Ne+Xe)를 사용하여 기체압력(p), 진동수(f)에 따라 VUV(Vacuum Ultra Violet) spectrum 147, 173nm 파장과 IR(Infrared) spectrum 823nm, 828nm을 Vacuum Monochromator(Acton-VM 507)를 통해 측정하였다. 휘도(Luminance)와 전력(Power)측면에서 Ne+ Xe 최적의 가스 조성비를 찾기 위해서 Xe의 혼합비에 따른 IR영역인 823nm, 828nm을 측정결과, Xe 4%일 때 좋은 효율을 나타냈다. 기체압력이 200Torr에서는 Xe(3P1)에 기인하는 147nm가 주요한 파장이며, 기체압력이 400Torr, 600Torr일때는 Xe(3P2)에 기인하는 173nm 파장이 주요함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 공간 방전 이미지를 전압 pulse 인가후 ICCD Camera(V-Tek)의 Ready time, On Time을 조절하면서 50ns delay로 관측하였다. 향후 실험계획은 실제 상용화되고 있는 혼합가스 He+Ne+Xe의 조성비에 따른 자세한 실험을 할 것이다.

넓은 범위의 압력에서 Xe 농도 변화에 대한 XeF$(C\rightarrowA$ 레이저의 출력특성 (Output Characteristics of XeF$(C\rightarrowA$ Laser for the variation of Xe concentration under the pressures of broad region)

  • 레이저매질의 넓은 압력범위(0.5-3.5 기압)에 대해 70ns[FWHM]의 전자빔 가속기(800kV, 21kA)로 여기할 때 free-running XeF$(C\rightarrowA$ 엑시머 레이저의 출력과 Xe 농도와의 상호관계를 조사하였다. 공진기를 쌍색성의 출력거울로 구성하고, 레이저 출력을 레이저매질 $(Xe/F_2/Ar)$의 총압력과 가스혼합비의 함수로써 최적화 하였다. $F_2$ 0.46%를 고정한 조건에서 레이저 고유효율은 총압력 1, 2, 3기압에서 최대 0.38%, 1.03%, 0.29%로 측정되었다. 이때 레이저의 최대 고유효율은 레이저매질의 총압력이 낮을수록 높은 Xe 농도에서 높게 나타났다. 이같은 상호관계를 $XeF^*(C)$의 형성효율 및 XeF$(C\rightarrowA$ 레이저 추출 효율에 대해 동력학적으로 해석하므로써 Xe 농도의 의존성을 설명하였다. 그 결과로 대기압 XeF$(C\rightarrowA$ 레이저의 효율적인 동작을 제안한다.

면방전형 Xe 플라즈마 평판 램프의 방전 및 발광 특성 (Discharge and Luminous Characteristics of Coplanar Type Xe Plasma Flat Lamp)

  • The Xe plasma flat lamp, considered to be a new eco-friendly LCD backlight, requires a further improvement of its luminance and luminous efficiency. To improve the performance of this type of lamp, it is necessary to understand the effects of the discharge variables on the luminous characteristics of the lamp. In this study, the luminous characteristics of a coplanartype Xe plasma flat lamp with a teeth-type electrode pattern were analyzed while varying the gas composition, gas pressure and input voltage. The effects of the phosphor layer on the discharge and the luminous characteristics of the lamp were also studied. The luminous efficiency of the coplanar-type Xe plasma flat lamp improved as the Xe input ratio and gas pressure increased. Higher luminous efficiency was also obtained when helium (He) was used as a buffer gas and when a phosphor layer was fabricated on the electrode region. In contrast, the luminous efficiency was reduced with increasing the input voltage. It was found that the infrared emissions from the lamp were affected by the Xe excitation rate in the plasma, the Xe gas density, the collisional quenching of excited Xe species by gas molecules, and the recombination rate between the Xe ions and electrons.
