Priority Allocation Scheme for Improving Web Services Performance on Web Server (웹 서비스 처리 성능 개선을 위한 웹 서버에서의 우선순위 할당 기법)

  • The web services concept is rising as a standard to integrate heterogeneous systems in distributed environment based on XML messaging. Recently, for that reason, many companies are trying to use web services for their B2C and B2B business. In order to successfully introduce the web services, it is required to guarantee a differentiated quality of web services. However, most of the current web services cannot provide differentiated policies for requested messages and the existing web servers cannot consider appropriately the quality factors of web services in the service level agreement between provider and consumer. In this paper, we analyzed appropriate quality factors of web services in application level and suggested priority allocation strategy for processes dealing with messages of web services using those factors. This strategy can allocate dynamically a priority to satisfy the service level agreement.

Web Service Proxy Architecture using WS-Eventing for Reducing SOAP Traffic

  • Web Services offer many benefits over other types of middleware in distributed computing. However, usage of Web Services results in large network bandwidth since Web Services use XML-based protocol which is heavier than binary protocols. Even though there have been many researches to minimize the network traffic and bandwidth usages of Web Services messages, none of them are solving problem clearly yet. In this paper, we propose a transparent proxy with cache to avoid transfer of repeated SOAP data, sent by Web Service to an application. To maintain the cache consistency, we introduce publish/subscribe paradigm using WS-Eventing between the proxy and Web Service. The implemented system based on our proposed architecture will not compromise the standards of Web Service. The evaluation of our system shows that caching SOAP messages not only reduces the network traffic but also decreases the request delays.

  • 근래 들어 생명과학 및 생명정보에 대한 관심이 높아지면서, 활발한 연구 활동의 결과물로 많은 정보를 얻을 수 있게 되었다. 방대한 생명정보를 분석할 수 있는 많은 알고리즘이 개발되었으며, 웹 기술이 발달함에 따라 생명정보의 활용도가 높아져서 다양한 방법으로 정보 서비스가 가능하게 되었다. Web Services는 XML, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI를 사용하는 분산 컴포넌트 기반의 컴퓨팅 기술로 서비스를 제공하는 Service Provider와 서비스 제공자의 정보를 저장하는 Service Registry 및 서비스를 사용하는 Service Requestor로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 바이오인포매틱스 분야에서 Web Services를 구성하는 모든 요소들을 개발한다. 특히 One-Stop Web Services는 GUI 환경의 인터페이스로 사용자에게는 용이한 실행 환경을 제공하고 있으며, Web Services 개발자에게는 사용자 인터페이스 개발 부담을 줄일 수 있다.

  • The World Wide Web is transitioning from being a mere collection of documents that contain useful information toward providing a collection of services that perform useful tasks. The emerging Web service technology has been envisioned as the next technological wave and is expected to play an important role in this recent transformation of the Web. By providing interoperable interface standards for application-to-application communication, Web services can be combined with component-based software development to promote application interaction and integration within and across enterprises. To make Web services for service-oriented computing operational, it is important that Web services repositories not only be well-structured but also provide efficient tools for an environment supporting reusable software components for both service providers and consumers. As the potential of Web services for service-oriented computing is becoming widely recognized, the demand for an integrated framework that facilitates service discovery and publishing is concomitantly growing. In our research, we propose a framework that facilitates Web service discovery and publishing by combining clustering techniques and leveraging the semantics of the XML-based service specification in WSDL files. We believe that this is one of the first attempts at applying unsupervised artificial neural network-based machine-learning techniques in the Web service domain. We have developed a Web service discovery tool based on the proposed approach using an unsupervised artificial neural network and empirically evaluated the proposed approach and tool using real Web service descriptions drawn from operational Web services repositories. We believe that both service providers and consumers in a service-oriented computing environment can benefit from our Web service discovery approach.

  • 오늘날 웹의 사용자와 컨텐츠가 급격히 증가함에 따라 지능적 정보시스템과 웹 서비스(Web Service) 개념이 여러 분야에서 활발히 연구되고 있으며, 사용자에게 의미 정보를 제공하기 위한 시맨틱 웹서비스의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 시맨틱 웹 서비스를 위한 FXDB (FUZZY XML DATABASE) 시스템 설계 기법과 의미정보(Semantic Information)를 자동으로 실시간 웹 서비스 할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 본 논문에서 제시한 FXDB 시스템은 XML 기술과 퍼지기술을 이용하여 웹상의 메타데이타를 데이터베이스에서 의미적으로 자동해석하고 XML 기반 웹 서비스할 수 있는 시스템 구조를 제안한다. 따라서 시맨틱 웹 환경을 위한 메타데이타의 해석을 좀 더 자동화, 지능화 할 수 있는 차세대 웹을 구현하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다. 또한 웹 사용자의 입장에서는 의미정보에 따른 빠른 의사결정과 시맨틱 웹 정보검색이 가능하게 될 것이다.

  • Recently, many researchers have given high attention to the semantic web services based on the semantic web technology While existing web services use the XML-based web service description language, WSDL, semantic web services are utilizing web service description languages such as DAML-S in ontology languages. The researchers of semantic web services are generally focused on web service discovery, web service invocation, web service selection and composition, and web service execution monitoring. Especially, the semantic web service discovery as the basis to accomplish the ultimate semantic web service environment has some different properties from previous information discovery areas. Hence, it is necessary to develop the storage system and discovery mechanism appropriate to the semantic well description languages. Even though some related systems have been developed, they are not appropriate for the embedded system environment, such as intelligent robotics, in which there are some limitations on memory disk space, and computing power In this regard, we in the embedded system environment have developed the document management system which efficiently manages the web service documents described by DAML-S for the purpose of the semantic web service discovery, In addition, we address the distinguishing characteristics of the system developed in this paper, compared with the related researches.

Design of Web Service by Using OPC XML-DA and OPC Complex Data for Automation and Control Systems

  • Web technologies are gaining increased importance in automation and control systems. However, the choice of Web technologies depends on the use cases in the application environment. In industrial systems, the data can be got not only from many different field systems and devices but also from different OPC (OLE for Process Control) Servers. Current OPC Client might be able to read simple data from OPC Server, but there are some problems to get structured data and to exchange structured information between collaborating applications. Therefore, OPC Foundation has defined interfaces to OPC XML-DA (OPC XML Data Access) and OPC Complex Data that aim to solve those problems. The OPC XML-DA can facilitate the exchange of plant data across the internet, and upwards into the enterprise domain. In addition, the OPC Complex Data will extend the OPC DA specification to allow the OPC Client to read and decode any type of data from measurement and control systems on the plant floor. This paper will describe the concept of OPC XML-DA and OPC Complex Data. And then it proposes a mechanism to implement the OPC Complex Data into OPC XML-DA Server. Additionally, the paper also discusses the security aspects.

  • Nowadays, in many mobile device environment, while the demand for using web service is increasing, there are many limitations on web-browsing in wireless network because of various restrictions and problems in reality. We need improvement in function of mobile web service engine because we can't be satisfied with the multiple demands by using previous capacity of web server in rapidly changing web environment. Therefore, this paper improves the service environment for web service users by introducing intermediary technology to web service. This paper embodies intermediary based web service framework for improvement of the function of mobile web service and for the interoperability of mobile device and web server.

  • In this study, Automatic Speech Recognition Application System is designed and implemented to realize transformation from present GUI-centered web services to VUI-centered web service. Due to ASP's restriction with web in reusability and portability, in this study, Automatic Speech Recognition Application System with Javabeans Component Architecture is devised and studied. Also the voice web browsing which is able to transfer voice and graphic information simultaneously is studied using Remote AWT(Abstract Windows Toolkit).

  • In this paper, we design and implement practical application service using VoiceXML. And we suggest new solutions of problems can be occurred when implementing a new systems using VoiceXML, based on the fact. Up to now, speech related services were developed using API (Application Program Interface) and programming languages, which methods depend on system architectures. It thus appears that reuse of contents and resource was very difficult. To solve these problems, nowadays, companies develop their applications using VoiceXML. Advantages of using VoiceXML when developing services are as follows. First, we can use web developing technologies and technologies for transmitting web contents. And, we can save labors for low level programming like C language or Assembler language. And we can save labors for managing resources, too. As the result of these advantages, we can reduce developing hours of applications services and we can solve problem of compatibility between systems. But, there's poor grip of actual problems can be occurred when implementing their own services using VoiceXML. To overcome these problems, we implemented interactive stock trading system using VoiceXML and concentrated our effort to find out problems when using VoiceXML. And then, we proposed solutions to these problems and analyzed strong points and weak points of suggested system.
