2D-THI: Two-Dimensional Type Hierarchy Index for XML Databases (2D-THI: XML 데이테베이스를 위한 이차원 타입상속 계층색인)

  • This paper presents a two-dimensional type inheritance hierarchy index(2D-THI) for XML databases. XML Schema is one of schema models for the XML documents supporting. The type inheritance. The conventional indexing techniques for XML databases can not support XML queries on type inheritance hierarchies. We construct a two-dimensional index structure using multidimensional file organizations for supporting type inheritance hierarchy in XML queries. This indexing technique deals with the problem of clustering index entries in the two-dimensional domain space that consists of a key element domain and a type identifier domain based on the user query pattern. This index enhances query performance by adjusting the degree of clustering between the two domains. For performance evaluation, we have compared our proposed 2D-THI with the conventional class hierarchy indexing techniques in object-oriented databases such as CH-index and CG-tree through the cost model. As the result of the performance evaluations, we have verified that our proposed two-dimensional type inheritance indexing technique can efficiently support the query Processing in XML databases according to the query types.

  • This paper presents a multidimensional type inheritance indexing technique (MD-TIX) for XML databases. We use a multidimensional file organization as the index structure. In conventional XML database indexing techniques using one-dimensional index structures, they do not efficiently handle complex queries involving both nested elements and type inheritance hierarchies. We extend a two-dimensional type hierarchy indexing technique(2D-THI) for indexing the nested elements of XML databases. 2D-THI is an indexing scheme that deals with the problem of clustering elements in a two-dimensional domain space consisting of the key value domain and the type identifier domain for indexing a simple element in a type hierarchy. In our extended scheme, we handle the clustering of the index entries in a multidimensional domain space consisting of a key value domain and multiple type identifier domains that include one type identifier domain per type hierarchy on a path expression. This scheme efficiently supports queries that involve search conditions on the nested element represented by an extended path expression. An extended path expression is a path expression in which every type hierarchy on a path can be substituted by an individual type or a subtype hierarchy.

XML Type vs Inlined Shredding into Tables for Storing XML Documents in RDBMS

  • As XML is increasingly used for representing and exchanging data, relational database systems have been trying extend their features to handle XML documents XML documents can be stored in a column with XML data type like primitive types. The shredding method, which is one of the traditional methods for storing and managing XML documents in RDBMS, is still useful and viable although it has some drawbacks due to the structural discrepancy between XML and relational databases. This method may be suitable for data-centric XML documents with simple schema. This paper presents the extended version of the Association inlining method that is based on inlined shredding and compares the performance of querying processing to that of XML type method of conventional relational database systems. The experiments showed that in most cases our method resulted in better performance than the other method based on XML data type. This is due to the fact that our shredding method keeps and uses the order and path information of XML documents. The path table has the information of the corresponding table and column for each distinct path and the structure information of the XML document is extracted and stored in data tables.

  • Web service implementations are now rapidly growing. Web services are easily achieved by XML messaging for most programming languages. Applications usually utilize web services through APIs tied to a specific implementation of SOAP. nML is a dialect of SML and OCaml made in ROPAS. The soaptype type in nML is defined for the value of SOAP encoding. SOAP encoding specification defines rules for serialization of a graph of typed objects using XML Schema. XML Schema validates XML SOAP value. The soaptype type is encoded to XML and decoded from XML. It is necessary to guarantee safe encoding and decoding. So, the definitions for element and type definition in XML Schema are specified by element type and typeinfo type, which include the part of the definitions of XML Schema specification.

  • XML documents used for exchanging structured documents between heterogeneous distributed systems are spreading among B2B and the industrial world rapidly. This condition brings an object-oriented visualization tool for modeling XML documents. It is hard to apply for DTD - the rule for declaring document type, which is employed in XML, to various industrial field. Thus, W3C announced Recommendation for XML Schema - the rule for declaring new document type which is adaptable to XML and satisfy to user. Document Type which has high reusability and flexibility can be defined owing to that XML Schema is designed by utilization of Object-Oriented-Modelling technique(UML). This document is proposed the specification and an algorithm for mapping XML Schema to UML.

  • XML used rapid method of meta language representation in internet for information transmission. In addition to XML Schema used frequency specification to variety data type. This thesis designed to Simple Type meta model of XML schema using UML. But because structure of XML schema complicate and suppose variety data type we can recognize many difficult matter to user's apprehension and application of model properties that appeared UML. To way out of this matter this study could specified clearly to structured expression in XML schema meta model that is applied OCL specification and together, come up with method of detailed design to parse tree and token generation for lexical and symmentics analysis in compile step on this study foundation.

  • XML(extensible Markup Language) of W3C(World Wide Web Consortium) that is used the standard core technology of data exchange on the current Internet is an independent data type of usable at the all platforms. Especially, it can handle rapidly because of the integration of each other data types that is exchanged. Between each application and system that built at an enterprise in the past. However, W3C had notice to use XSLT(extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation) that is document transformable standard to descript expression information in XML documents because documents of XML only have a logical structure information. It is designed for XML that is developed for data exchange on the internet. Moreover, it is proposed to process and to change as other data type for expression XML documents for user. This thesis design and implement XSLT document editing system transformable as a un data type as a HTML data type applying XSLT at XML and developed the system. It can edit XSLT document that descript expression information in XML document that is used for data editing in the WYSIWYG environment.

A Tuning Algorithm for the Multidimensional Type Inheritance Index of XML Databases (XML 데이터베이스 다차원 타입상속 색인구조의 조율 알고리즘)

  • For the MD-TIX(multidimensional type inheritance index) that supports query processing for the type inheritance concept in XML databases, this paper presents an index tuning algorithm that enhances the performance of the XML query processing according to the query pattern. The MD-TIX uses a multidimensional index structure to support complex XML queries involving both nested elements and type inheritance hierarchies. In this index tuning algorithm, we first determine a shape of index page regions by using the query information about the user's query pattern, and then construct an optimal MD-TIX by applying a region splitting strategy that makes the shape of the page regions into the predetermined one. The performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed tuning algorithm builds an optimal MD-TIX by a given query pattern, and in the case of the three-dimensional query regions for the nested predicates of path length 2, the performance is much enhanced according to the skewed degree of the query region's shape.

An Automatic Relational Schema Generating System for an XML Schema (XML Schema에 대한 관계형 스키마 자동 생성 시스템)

  • As more and more documents are published in XML, generating relational schemas to store XML documents in a relational database is also getting important. This paper describes a technique as well as its implementation to produce a relational schema from the XML Schema, a standard recently recommended by W3C. The DTD-based inlining technique cannot be applied to the XML Schema, because the XML Schema has many new features, which don't exist in the DTD. Various built-in data types, inheritance, and polymorphism, for example, strengthen the XML Schema, but make the generation of a relational schema from an XML Schema more difficult. We propose an XML Schema Inlining Technique, based on the previous work. The technique first maps various data types in the XML Schema to those of the relational database. After that, it construct the schema graph and the type graph from types and elements defined in the XML Schema. The relational schema is generated while traversing the type graphs. Besides, we describe techniques for handling xsi:type, used for the polymorphism, and the anon#moos type. We also propose a couple of heuristic methods for enhancing the performance of the system. Finally, we conducted experiments to show that our technique is better than the binary table approach.

  • XML 문서에 대한 데이터의 통계 정보는 XML 어플리케이션에 유용하다. 특히 XML 어플리케이션에 대해 RDBMS 테이블 형U로 유도하는 방법 중 cost-based approach를 적용할 때 다양한 Schema 변환 중 어플리케이션에 가장 적합한 것을 선택하는 데 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 정차한 통계 정보를 모으기 위해 Shared type과 변환 과정에 생기는 잠재적인 Shared type에 대해 해결한 X2R System을 개발하였고. 효율적으로 통계를 유지하도록 하였다.
