Integration between XML-based Document Information and Bridge Information Model-based Structural Design Information (교량정보모델 기반의 설계정보와 XML 기반의 문서정보 통합)

  • This study provides a new operation strategy which can guarantee the data consistency of engineering information among the various intelligent information systems. We present the strategies for the operation of bridges engineering information and the construction methodology of integrated database. The two core standard techniques are adopted to construct the integrated database. One of these standards is the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) for CAD/CAE information and the other is the Extensible Markup Language (XML) for engineering document information. This study can transform a document me into a data type for web-based application modules which assist end-users in searching and retrieval of engineering document data. In addition, relaying algorithm is developed to integrate the two different information, e.g. CAD/CAE information and engineering document information. The pilot application modules for management and maintenance of existing bridge are also developed to show application of the strategy.

  • A framework for semantic annotation oi human motion sequences is proposed in this paper. Motion capture technology is widely used for manuiacturing animation since it produces high qualify character motion similar to the actual motion of the human body. However, motion capture has a significant weakness due to the lack of an industry wide standard for archiving and retrieving motion capture data. It is difficult for animators to retrieve the desired motion sequences from motion capture files as there is no semantic annotation on already captured motion data. Our goal is to improve the reusability of motion capture data. To archive our goal first, we propose a standard format for integrating different motion capture file formals. Our standard format is called MCML (Motion Capture Markup Language). It is a markup language based on XML (extensible Markup Language). The purpose of MCML is not only to facilitate the conversion or integration of different formats, but also to allow for greater reusability of motion capture data, through the construction of a motion database storing the MCML documents Second, we define motion ontologies that are used to annotate and semantically organize human motion sequences. This ontology-based approach provides the means for discovering and exploiting the information and knowledge surrounding motion capture data.

  • It is crucially important to exchange and manage the financial information of an organization for the reason of complexity and diversity of information caused by its implicit information involved. Especially, according to the development of information technology, various approaches appeared to manage financial data of organization. For example, XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) is one of the technologies dealing with the above criteria. Basically, XBRL is a business reporting language to define and exchange financial information, such as a financial statement of organization. XBRL is an international standard which enables the exchange of information between information providers and consumers by adding the tags involving the information of circumstantial factors of data. However, XBRL is not able to describe semantics because XBRL is fundamentally based on XML(Extensible Markup Language) having the purpose of expressing and structuring data. Therefore, this paper aims to enable semantic information to XBRL through the semantic technology. The objective of this paper is an ontologization of the knowledge to perform sharing, reusing, discovering, and inferring the knowledge described and conducted by XBRL. In order to achieve the above objective, this paper suggests the methodology for the ontologization of the category and instance document of XBRL. Furthermore, this paper points out the possibility of suggested methodology in a practical business through indicating the advantages of the knowledge described by XBRL.

  • XML is the most widely used document format by advantage that self-contained for platform. So, currently the most used among other document format. but XML appeared new problem that memory and transmission. And that be used in environment a request restriction memory and fast transmission as like mobile field. Although discussion of XML binarization is going on progress. And fast Infoset configuration using XML Information Set is receiving attention that a way to lower file size of hold down a existing usage. In this paper, we designed of module using fast Infoset and PER among ASN.1 Encoding Rule for XML binarization. And we implementation of encoder constructed interlace by stage of translation from XML into binary XML.

  • Extensible Markup Language (XML) is an Internet standard that is used to express and convert data, In order to find the necessary information out of XML documents, you need a search system for XML documents, In this research, we have developed a search system that can find documents that matches the structure and content of a given XML document, making the best use of XML structure, Search metrics take account of the similarity in tag names, tag values, and the structure of tags, After a search, the system displays the ranked results in the order of aggregate similarity, Three methods of query are provided: keyword search which is conventional; search with tag names and their values; and search with XML documents, These three methods enable users to choose the method that best suits their preference, resulting in the increase of the usefulness of the system.

  • XML is emerging as a standard data format to exchange and to present data on the Web. There are increasing needs to efficiently store and to query XML data. In this paper. we propose a new schema transformation algorithm based on a common structure extracting technique from XML documents. The common structure is shared by all XML documents referenced by DTD and the uncommon structure is ununiformly appeared on all XML documents referenced by DTD. Based on the extracted common and uncommon structures, we transform XML DTD into relational database schema. We conduct a performance evaluation based on the number of the generated tables, the size of the record, query processing time and the number of joins on the query. The performance of our algorithm is compared with the existing algorithms, then in most cates, our algorithm is better than the existing ones with respect to the number of the generated tables and appearance of NULL values in the tables.

An Efficient Index Structure for Semantic-based XML Keyword Search (의미 기반의 XML키워드 검색을 위한 효율적인 인덱스 구조)

  • Search results of XML keyword search are defined generally as the most specific elements containing all query keywords in the literature. The labels of XML elements and semantic information such as ontology, conceptual model, thesaurus, and so on, are used to improve the preciseness of the search results. This paper presents a hierarchical index for an efficient XML keyword query processing on the condition that returnable search concepts are defined and users' query concepts can be interpreted with the help of the semantic information. The hierarchical index separately stores the XML elements containing a keyword on the basis of the hierarchical relations of the concepts that the XML elements belong to, and makes it possible to obtain least common ancestors, which are candidates for the search results, with selectively reading the elements belonging to the concepts relevant to query concepts and without considering all the combinations of the elements having been read. This paper deals with how to organize the hierarchical index and how to process XML keyword queries with the index. In our experiment with the DBLP XML document and the XML documents in the INEX2003 test set, the hierarchical index worked well.

  • Various other platforms have appeared due to the abolishment of WIPI requirement and increased problems related with hacking and security. Since levels consisting of these platforms are composed of various APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) which are not standardized, other ways must be considered to protect data which are transferred using XML formats. Therefore, XML encryption API and XML digital signature API for data protection and certification, which are both responsible to define mark-up languages for XML encryption and digital signature respectively, were designed in this paper. The simulation system which played the role of the server and client between two terminal units was realized to validate the APIs.

Case-Based Reasoning Support for ERP Pre-Planning

  • A project planning is one of the most important processes that determines success and failure of the project. A pre-project planning is also essential job for information system implementations at the early stage of project planning, especially for management information system like ERP. However, pre-project planning is very difficult, because lots of factors and their relationships should be considered. Pre-project planning of ERP implementation has been done by project manager's own knowledge and experiences. In this article, we propose a system that help project manager to make a pre-project plan of ERP project with case-based reasoning(CBR) framework. The proposed CBR system saves previous cases of ERP pre-project planning in the case base. Then, the system finds the most similar case with the current pre-project planning problem. Project manager can make a pre-project plan by adjusting the most similar case. From the interview with project managers, we collect some field cases of ERP implementation. We organized these cases by using XML(Extensible Markup Language), which is good for representing hierarchical information. XML gives us some flexibilities to correct and maintain cases. We make a prototype system, PPSS(Project Planning Support System) that help project manager to make a pre-project plan of ERP implementations. The object of the system is to support project manager to make a pre-project plan of ERP. We hope the result of the study can be applied to other information systems. Our research would be extended to cover other stages of project planning.

A Study on the Web-based Integrated Environment for Design Systems (웹 기반 통합 설계 환경 구축에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the method that allows easy and rapid integration of legacy resources within the company and between departments. The proposed system can easily construct a distributed environment for collaborative design between departments in the companies. It supports knowledge-based integration system, which allows designers to develop product with deep knowledge about product design. For the purpose, DOME (Distributed Object-based Modeling Environment)-which has been developed through various studies-was used in this paper. To overcome its problems and insufficiency, the Web-Integrator is proposed. The Web-Integrator is very suitable for an Internet environment because it uses HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) and XML (extensible Markup Language) as its main communication method. By supporting the remote object access via URL (Uniform Resource Locator), the implementation of the integrated system makes the Web-Integrator systematic and intuitive. All the functions and resources provided by DOME could be used with the interface that enables bi-directional communication with the DOME system. Web-Integrator provides full web-based environments for the general designers, who do not have a full design knowledge and experience, and the proposed system allows design operations to happen at any place and anytime. Also it provides XML-RPC(Remote Procedure Call) based web service framework, which allows other systems to use easily the service that the DOME system supplies regardless the location and the platform.
