  • Proton Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) is a MeV ion beam analysis method for use with particle accelerators. PIXE uses low-energy charged particles as an excitation mechanism to generate characteristic x-ray emission from each element in a target. In PIXE analysis, the beam current used is from a few nA to several tens of nA. Chosun University (Cyclotron Research Center) designed a $50{\mu}A$ beam line from the 13 MeV cyclotron for use with a PIXE analysis system, as well as performing beam transport line optimization research. In this study, the beam line operation conditions for the optimization process of beam transport and beam characteristics are shown.

  • In this study, we investigated surface characteristics of hydroxyapatite coated surface on nano/micro pore structured Ti-35Ta-xNb alloys. This paper was focus on morphology and corrosion resistance of Anodic oxidation. To prepare the samples, Ti-35Ta-xNb (x= 0, 10 wt. %) alloys were manufactured by arc melting and heat-treated for 12 h at $1050^{\circ}C$ in Ar atmosphere at $0^{\circ}C$ water quenching. Micro-pore structured surface was performed using anodization with a DC power supply at 280 V for 3 min, nanotube formed on Ti-35Ta-xNb alloys was performed using DC power supply at 30 V in 60 min at room temperature. Surface morphology and structure were examined by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

  • A new $Mg_{2-x}MN_xSnO_4$ phosphor with an inverse spinel structure was synthesized by the solid-state reaction technique. The photoluminescence properties of the $Mg_2SnO_4$:Mn phosphors were investigated under 147nm -vacuum ultraviolet ray excitation. The Mn-doped $Mg_2SnO_4$ phosphor exhibited high emission intensity with the spectrum centered at 500nm wavelength. It was explained that the green emission in $Mg_2SnO_4$:Mn phosphor has originated from energy transfer from $^4T_1$ to $^6A_1$ of $Mn^{2+}$ ion at tetrahedral site of the spinel structure. The $Mn^{2+}$ ion concentration exhibiting the maximum emission intensity under the excitation of 147nm-vacuum ultraviolet ray was 0.25mol%. And the decay time of the phosphor was shorter than 10ms.

  • The far-ultraviolet (FUV) continuum and spectral images of C IV and H2 emission lines for the region of Orion-Eridanus Superbubble (OES) are hereby presented and compared with the maps obtained in other wavelengths. While the region shows complex structures, consisting of hot gases and cold dust, a close examination reveals that the FUV emission in this region can be understood reasonably as the result of their interactions. We confirm the origin of most diffuse FUV continuum to be starlight scattered by dust, but we also find that the ionized gas also contributes 50-70% of the total FUV intensity in the regions of H_alpha arcs. We note the bright diffuse FUV continuum in the eastern part of the northern dust-rich region, and attribute it to the bright early-type stars more abundant in this region than in the west as the amount of dust itself does not seem to be much different across 'arc A' that separates the two regions. In addition, two P Cygni-type stars are identified in this eastern region and their peculiar spectral profiles around the C IV emission line are anifested in the scattered diffuse spectrum. Besides this, the C IV emission is generally enhanced at the boundaries of the hot X-ray cavities where thin dust regions are located, confirming the thermal interface nature of the origin of this cooling emission line. The morphology of the H2 emission shows a general correlation with dust extinction features but its intensity peaks are rather located in thin dust areas, off the peak dust regions. Furthermore, H2 emission is seen to be weak in the arc A region though the arc passes through the center of the dust-rich area. Hence, the H2 emission and dust features, together with those of X-ray and ion lines emissions, show stratified structure of arc A quite well, again confirming its thermal interface nature.

  • We updated the far-ultraviolet (FUV) spectral images of the entire Vela supernova remnant (SNR) using newly processed FIMS/SPEAR data. In the present study, we compare the newly produced FUV images with the X-ray and $H{\alpha}$ images, and examine how the Vela SNR evolves and interacts with the ambient medium on a global scale. The comparison with X-ray images has revealed a FUV filamentary feature corresponding with the boundary of the northeast-southwest asymmetry of the X-ray shell. The relatively low O IV] ${\lambda}1404$ to O III] ${\lambda}{\lambda}1661$, 1666 ratio estimated on the FUV filament is compatible with the previous proposal that the observed asymmetry of the Vela SNR could be due to the ${\gamma}2$ Velorum stellar wind bubble (SWB). The southwest FUV features surrounding a faint extended X-ray region are characterized as the region where the Vela SNR is interacting slightly stronger with ambient mediums within the dim X-ray southwest section. From a comparison with the $H{\alpha}$ image, we identify a ring-like $H{\alpha}$ feature overlapped with an extended hot X-ray feature of similar size and two local peaks of C IV ${\lambda}{\lambda}1548$, 1551 emission. Their morphologies are consistent with the expected shape when the $H{\alpha}$ ring is in direct contact with the near or far side of the Vela SNR. We suggest that the B3V-type star HD 76161 found at the center of the $H{\alpha}$ ring would be the exciting source of the H II region.

  • Cu has been used for metallic interconnects in ULSI applications because of its lower resistivity according to the scaling down of semiconductor devices. The resistivity of Cu lines will affect the RC delay and will limit signal propagation in integrated circuits. We investigated the electrolyte effects of the electroplating solution in the resistivity value of Cu films grown by electroplating deposition (EPD). The resistivity was measured with a four-point probe and the material properties were investigated with XRD (X-ray Diffraction), AFM (Atomic Force Microscope), FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy). From these experimental results, we found that the electrolyte condition plays an Important role in formation of Cu film with lower resistivity by EPD.

  • Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were grown on the pre-oxidized silicon substrate with the assistance of Au and the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) based on the catalysts by vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) synthesis. Two types of ZnO powder particle size, 20nm, $20{\mu}m$, were used as a source material, respectively The properties of the nanorods such as morphological characteristics, chemical composition and crystalline properties were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The particle size of ZnO source strongly affected the growth of ZnO nanostructures as well as the crystallographic structure. All the ZnO nanostructures are hexagonal and single crystal in nature. It is found that $1030^{\circ}C$ is a suitable optimum growth temperature and 20 nm is a optimum ZnO powder particle size. Nanorods were fabricated on the FTO deposition with large electronegativity and we found that the electric potential of nanorods rises as the ratio of current rises, there is direct relationship with the catalysts, Therefore, it was considered that Sn can be the alternative material of Au in the formation of ZnO nanostructures.

  • Yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ) films were prepared onto p-type (100) silicon wafer by a plasma-enhanced metallorganic chemical vapor deposition(PE MO CVD) processing involving the application of vapor mixture of tri(2.2.6.6-tetramethyl-3, 5-heptanate) yttrium$[Y(DPM)_3]$, zirconiumtriflouracethyla cetonate$(Zr(tfacac)_4$ and oxygen gas. The x-ray diffraction(XRD) and fourier transform infrared spectra(FT1R) results showed that the deposited YSZ films had a single cubic phase. $Y_2O_3$ content of YSZ film was analyzed by PIXE(partic1e induced x-ray emission). The experimental results by PIXE revealed that 12.lmol%, 20.4mol% and 31.6mol% $Y_2O_3$ could be obtained as the $Y(DPM)_3$ bubbling temperature varied at $160^{\circ}C, 165^{\circ}C$ and $170^{\circ}C$ respectively. The increase of $Y(DPM)_3$ bubbling temperature caused shifting flat band voltage to have a negative value.
