  • The purpose of this study verify to the effect of applying the X-ray screening ability rating for security screening persons in Incheon International Airport. Data collected through a evaluation score of 1,034 security screening persons in Incheon International Airport. Data analysis performed using paired sample t-test. The research results found that it was a statistically significant difference pre-test and post-test applying the X-ray screening ability rating. In this article, we asserts that the X-ray screening ability rating is effective in improving the X-ray screening ability of security screening persons. This paper contribute to the academic expansion of motivation theory and self-determination theory. This study is valuable as a preemptive empirical research that provides practical implications about the application of X-ray screening ability rating for security screening persons.

  • In this paper, we propose a series of calibrations f3r the x-ray three dimensional imaging system. In the developed x-ray system, a three dimensional inner and outer shape of an object can be reconstructed out of two dimensional transmitted x-ray image set, which are acquired by projecting x-ray to the object from different views. To achieve this, a reconstruction algorithm which estimates and updates the three dimensional volume from x-ray images is developed. The algorithm is named as uniform and simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique(USART) which is an iterative method estimating a 3D volume based on its projected images. In this method, it is assumed that the imaging conditions that are the relative positions between the x-ray sources, object and the image planes are blown. Practically it is not easy to know the three dimensional coordinate of the components of the system, since the x-ray is not visible and the image distortions are present due to the optical components in the system. In this paper, methods of correcting image distortions are present firstly. Then the coordinates of the x-ray systems are calibrated from the x-ray images of the grid pattern. Some experimental results on these calibrations are present and discussed.

  • X-ray cavities are typically detected as surface brightness depression in X-ray diffuse emission from hot gas in high resolution X-ray images (i.e., Chandra and XMM-Newton). Showing the coincidence of location with radio jets, X-ray cavities imply that the radio jets interact with interstellar/intergalactic medium. It is important to understand them since they can be a clue of understanding AGN feedback to their host galaxies. To understand the physics of the AGN feedback, X-ray cavity has been actively studied while there are only a few statistical studies on X-ray cavity based on small or incomplete samples. Hence, a systematic study with a large sample is needed. With the condition of sufficient X-ray photons to detect surface brightness depression, we constructed a large sample of 133 galaxy clusters, galaxy groups, and individual galaxies to investigate X-ray cavities. We detected 201 cavities from 94 objects using two detection methods (i.e., beta-modeling and unsharp masking method), and confirmed the cavity size-distance relation over a large dynamical range. The size-distance relation does not vary for different environments (i.e., galaxy cluster, groups, and individual galaxies), suggesting that there is little environmental effect on the formation of X-ray cavity.

  • In this paper, the PAE of tube voltage of 93 diagnostic X-ray units those are using at the 19 general hospitals and 9 local clinics in the area of Sungnam, Inchun, and Seoul have been surveyed. The results are summarized as following. 1. PAE of tube Voltage 70, 100KV at the 56 (60%) X-ray units were ${\pm}7%$ below, at the 8 units (9%), were ${\pm}7%$ above, and those 29 X-ray units (31%) were ${\pm}7%$ below or above with the 70, 100KV tube Voltage in a unit. 2. PAE ${\pm}7%$ below were 68 X-ray units, at the low tube voltage (70KV), and 76 X-ray units at the high tube Voltage (100KV). 3. For six year-use abofe, used X-ray units were PAE ${\pm}7%$ above, and so, the longer used years the more X-ray units became declined in those performance. 4. PAE of tube Voltage were better efficiency at the large capacity 30 X-ray units than small capacity 10. 5. PAE ${\pm}7%$ abovein were only 8 units among 84 diagnostic X-ray units in the general hospitals.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the importance of proper positioning in chest PA X-ray examination. As a study method, this author searched for and analyzed materials related to chest PA X-ray examination from theses and books that had been published previously to understand the importance of proper positioning in chest PA X-ray examination. Generally, one of the examinations frequently done in most of the hospitals is chest PA X-ray examination. Also, in any kinds of X-ray examination, proper positioning is the most fundamental and definite way to provide accurate information about the patient. Poor positioning in chest PA X-ray examination may jeopardize the diagnosis and treatment, increase social cost due to examination needed to be done additionally, and generate additional radiation exposure unnecessarily above all. In conclusion, it is expected that proper positioning in chest PA X-ray examination will exert positive effects such as the provision of accurate information about the patient, prevention of misdiagnosis, reduction in social cost, and lastly decrease in radiation exposure.

  • Since the inception of the idea to develop an X-ray laser in 1960's, a rapid progress to demonstrate soft X-ray lasers in the wavelength region below 300$\AA$ has been made during the last ten years. Among many prospective proposals, the recombination scheme and the collisional exitation scheme have been most successful in achieving a significant gain. An appreciable single-pass amplification was achieved at 182 $\AA$ from CVI ions using the recombination scheme and at 206 and 290$\AA$ from the Se XXV ions using the collisional excitation scheme. The current research on X-ray lasers emphasizes the enhancement of amplification upto saturation and the extension of operating wavelength to shorter wavelengths, especially to the water window region between 23 and 44 $\AA$. X-ray lasers are expected to open many application fields, such as X-ray laser microscopy, X-ray holography, X-ray lithography, and more, in the near future.

  • Non-destructive x-ray inspection system needs image intensifier to obtain the x-ray image. Captured image from image intensifier is distorted because the input plate of image intensifier has a spherical surface. In the research, in order to compensate this image distortion, we created the model of image intensifier and show mathematically that the image distortion was compensated. To show the performance of the proposed method, experiment was performed in real x-ray inspection system.
