In terms of class, race, or gender, critical literacy takes seriously the problem of inequality and injustice embedded in texts. Texts are considered as tools that are used for maintaining the status quo by constructing and communicating our identities, particularly in relation to others. While reading texts and identifying our roles in society, some feel empowered, and others, marginalized. Thus we need to challenge the characterization and the message included in those texts by asking problem-posing questions. In this paper I have demonstrated how to read and teach four versions of "Snow White" from a critical literacy stance. By the use of problem-posing questions, students are led to discover that one of Grimms' fairy tales, the original version of "Snow White," was written from the perspective of men with power, thus marginalizing women in general, as well as the seven dwarfs. Through a critical analysis of Snow White's personality, the typical theme of fairy tales - good is rewarded while evil is punished - should be challenged. In the animation, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, power is given to the marginalized people in the original, the seven dwarfs and women in general. In "Snow Night,"a feminist short story, women in general are empowered while men, who should be judged by their looks, are powerless. "Snow-Drop"reminds us of the original, but challenges stereotypes, prejudices, and the theme inherent in the story. In those three stories many parts from the original are rewritten from the perspectives of the marginalized, but still some people are described prejudicially. So students should be guided to write another story from a new perspective. When those four works were taught with problem-posing questions in a university, this approach proved to be quite successful: most students acknowledged the effectiveness of critical literacy in teaching literary works.

This paper intends to develop a Prototype Expert Collision Avoidance System by introducing expert system techniques into the decision block of anti-collision loop. The problem domain of this study is characterized and specified by combining the concepts of anti-collision loop and knowledge -based system for collision avoidance. Domain in knowledge which may originates from the appropriate sources such as the International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea 1972, Marine Traffic Laws, and many texts on the subject of anticollision navigation and good seamanship is acquired and formalized into the knowledge-base system using production rule. Finally, a Prototype Expert Collision Avoidance System is built by using the CLIPS, developed by AIS NASA written in and fully integrated with the C language, and some test-and-run results of the system are demonstrated and examined. The author considers the proposed system which is named PECAS to be meaningful as a test bed for a further refined Expert Collision Avoidance System on board the Automated Ship.

Conventional DES has been not only shown to have a vulnerable drawback to attack method called 'Meet in the Middle', but also to be hard to use that it is because software implementation has a number of problem in real time processing. This paper describes the design and implementation of the expanded DES algorithm using VHDL for resolving the above problems. The main reason for hardware design of an encryption algorithm is to ensure a security against cryptographic attack because there is no physical protection for the algorithm written in software. Total key length of 352 bits is used for the proposed DES. The result of simulation shows that the inputted plaintext in cryptosystem are equal to the outputted that in decryptosystem.

아라비아 숫자를 읽을 때 글과 말이 일치하지 않는 문제가 있다. 아라비아 숫자를 읽는 기준이 확실치 않아, 숫자가 놓인 위치, 단위명사, 수의 크기, 구성요소들 간의 결합관계, 문맥 등에 따라 숫자를 다양하게 읽어야 한다. 이 논문에서는 더 읽기 좋은 기술문을 쓰는 관점에서, 수사, 분류사 및 수량 단위명사와 관련한 연구 자료들을 조사하여, 아라비아 숫자 자리에 우리말 숫자를 적어야 하는 여덟 가지 규칙을 정리하였다.

Recently, Air pollution is gradually increasing which are coming from the exhaust of the ICE vehicles in the world. ICE vehicle exhaust gas and $CO_2$ are widely suspected of contributing to the called greenhouse effect, fueling fears of global warming. Therefore, many countries are striving to decrease the vehicle exhaust gas and have developed a variety of policies as air pollution regulation plans. To comply with the regulations, automotive industry has developed hybrid vehicles, which have features of both ICE vehicles and electric vehicles. Hybrid car is eco-friendly and has lowered exhausting gases and improved fuel efficiency. This research has been written to show that break down cases with EGR valve in hybrid cars, steadily increasing in use, and to help with on-site maintenance.

Practical problem-solving studies in a company or organization have provided great advantages for our university and students. For example, such studies can lead them to build a stronger relationship with local governments and companies as well as develop their research through collaborative studies. On the other hand, comments from companies or organizations that accepted our students showed that they did not always have advantages. This study seeks ways to establish a sustainable long-term internship program that can offer advantages for companies. Advantages and disadvantages of the internship are written by the company on the evaluated sheet. These feedback comments are analyzed by text-mining approach. It is shown that there are three types of company and organizations depending on their reasons for accepting students. Next, suitable internship programs for each type, including their period and expense distribution are presented.

In this paper, an analytical procedure for solving several static and dynamic problems of non-uniform beams is proposed. It is shown that the governing differential equations for several stability, free vibration and static problems of non-uniform beams can be written in the from of a unified self-conjugate differential equation of the second-order. There are two functions in the unified equation, unlike most previous researches dealing with this problem, one of the functions is selected as an arbitrary expression in this paper, while the other one is expressed as a functional relation with the arbitrary function. Using appropriate functional transformation, the self-conjugate equation is reduced to Bessel's equation or to other solvable ordinary differential equations for several cases that are important in engineering practice. Thus, classes of exact solutions of the self-conjugate equation for several static and dynamic problems are derived. Numerical examples demonstrate that the results calculated by the proposed method and solutions are in good agreement with the corresponding experimental data, and the proposed procedure is a simple, efficient and exact method.

This paper is written to analyze systematically the varieties of informations about cooking stream procedure on the basis of the basic theory of installation and arrangement such as SLP(Systemic Layout Planning) and to deduce the plan for the device, installation and arrangement suitable to cooking stream procedure. Through the substantial improvement in the modeling of hotel L, the optimization of the capacity of installation and arrangement, and the reduction of food resource stream and its movement and through the analysis of cooking stream procedure by disposing and dividing the main kitchen into three individual ones, the improvement of productivity in comprehensive cookery such as the specialization and equalization of cooking procedure and improvement effect of the price-reduction. Moreover, as for the problem of arrangement of installation, it was displayed that the effect went up to twice through the flexible production-related systems such as the improvement of arrangement, reduction of cooking preparation time, the standardization of cookery.

In this paper, we propose a new bankruptcy algorithm. The proposed algorithm is comprised of four tasks. Task A is the procedure of soliciting bids, Task B is the procedure of allocating claims, Task C is the procedure of trading claims, and Task D is the procedure of exercising options and holding shareholders' meeting. Tasks A, B, and D are based on Bebchuk(1988) and Aghion, Hart, ad Moore(1992). This paper adds Task C, the procedure of trading claims. Claims are in the form of options which are written on the new shares of the bankrupt firm. Trading options expedites the process of finding the value of the bankrupt firm, and also it mitigates the problem of incomplete capital market by expanding the pool of new investors.

Industrial ventilation is a crucial engineering measure to protect workers from hazardous airborne contaminants. Designing a ventilation system is not an easy task. To solve this problem, many U. S. computer programs and softwares have been developed. In Korea, asoftware, called as VPMC, was developed by Korea Industrial Safety Corporation. But VPMC could not stand alone since it can be used to design not a hood, but a ventilation system. In this research, therefore, a preprocessing software was developed. It can be used to design general ventilation system, canopy hood, open surface tank hood. The program was written in Microsoft Visual Basic. In near future, this software will be incorporated into a total package software which can be used to design a whole ventilation system.
