Cotton fabric was treated with montmorillonite (MMT) so as to evaluate its effectiveness on improving its wrinkle resistance. The MMT in emulsion form was applied to cotton fabric by padding and finally the wrinkle resistance of the MMT-treated cotton fabric was improved. Furthermore, instrumental methods were used for studying the presence of MMT particles on the cotton fabric surface. It was noted that nano-scale MMT particles adhered on the fiber surface and the particle size played an important role in influencing the wrinkle resistance of the cotton fabric. The experimental results are discussed thoroughly in this paper.
The bending properties, wrinkle resistance, and fabric retention behaviors of cotton knitted fabrics in the wale and course directions were studied for their dependence upon resin finishing, knit structure, and washing cycles. Stiffness, wrinkle recovery angles, and dimensional stability were investigated before and after resin finishing and laundering. It has been found that any change in the physical properties of the knitted fabrics with respect to knit structure and fabric directions are related to accompanying modifications to the state of the fiber properties. The decrease of fabric shrinkage rates and wrinkle recovery properties from increasing laundering cycles is related with resin incorporated on the fiber surface. This study shows that resin finishing on knitted fabrics can be performed only to improve fabric retention properties with reduced wrinkle recovery properties.
It has been considered that malic acid, $\alpha$-hydroky succinic acid, could not form crosslinks in the cellulosic materials unless activated by other polycarboxylic acids such as butanetetracarboxylic acid or citric acid because there are only two carboxylic acids per molecule available fur the formation of one anhydride intermediate. However we found that the dicarboxylic malic acid with sodium hypophosphite catalyst without the addition of other crosslinkers was able to improve wrinkle resistance of cotton up to $294^{\circ}$(dry WRA) and $285^{\circ}$ (wet WRA), which is a measure of crosslinking level in cotton. $^1$H FT-NMR, FT-IR and GPC analysis indicated the in-situ formation of an trimeric $\alpha$, $\beta$-rnalic acid with a composition of 1:3 through the esterification between hydroxyl group and one of carboxylic groups in malic acid during curing. The crosslinking of cotton was attributed to the trimeric $\alpha$, $\beta$-malic acid, a tetracarboxylic acid, which can form two anhydride rings during curing. The influence of crosslinking conditions such as concentrations of malic acid and catalyst, pH of the formulation bath, and curing temperature were investigated in terms of imparted wrinkle resistance and whiteness. The addition of reactive polyurethane resin in the formulation slightly increased the mechanical strength retention of crosslinked fabric coupled with additional increase in wrinkle resistance.

The purpose of this study is to develope wrinkle recovery property, DP rating of Tencel by using BTCA(1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid) and MgCl$_2$ that does not make water pollution. The adoptable condition to improve the wrinkle resistance and DP rating was determined 10% BTCA(o.w.f), 3% catalyst(o.w.f), 0.5% softener(o.w.f), 5min padding time, 150$^{\circ}C$ curing temperature, 2min curing time and pH 2.7. It was proven that ester groups were formed and cross-links increased by treating Tencel with BTCA. By XPS diffraction, Tencel treatment using BTCA was proved not to affect crystal formation.
Continuous photografting/crosslinking of polyethyleneglycol dimethacrylate oligomers onto cotton using a water-soluble benzophenone photoinitiator was investigated. Photografting increased with increasing irradiation dose, oligomer concentration and photoinitiator concentration. Maximum grafting efficiency of DM 400 and 600 were 83% and 79%, respectively. the photografting increased the wrinkle resistance of cotton implying surface crosslinking of cotton. bothsurface crosslinking and bulk crosslinking of cotton were accomplished via dual curing of a mixed formulation containing both a thermally curable component (BTCCA/SHP) and a UV-curable component. The wrinkle resistance of the crosslinked cotton was found to be higher when cured by thermal curing due to the facile post-polymerization of the UV active component. The presence of crosslinks in the dually crosslinked cotton was verified with FT-IR and thermogravimetric analysis.

The binding of polyethylene glycol (PEG, average molecular weight 600) to cotton fabrics was achieved by using pad-dry-cure process in the presence of citric acid, MgCl3·6H3O, DMDHEU, and TEAHCL. Treated fabrics were dyed with direct, acid, and basic dye. Wrinkle recovery angles, durable press rate, wettability, dyeability and color fastness to washing of all treated cottons were evaluated. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The wrinkle resistance of the PEG treated cottons was increased by increasing PEG and DMDHEU concentration. 2. The wettability of the PEG treated cottons was decreased by increasing PEG and DMDHEU concentration, increased by increasing TEAHCL concentration. 3. PEG/DMDHEU/TEAHCL treated cottons had greater affinity on direct, acid, and basic dye than untreated cottons, and dyeability of the modified cottons was improved compare to untreated fabrics. 4. Color fastness to washing of the PEG/DMDHEU/TEAHCL treated cottons was good except for the wash fastness of the direct dye.
The durability of UV radiation cured coatings near the film-substrate interface has been studied. Particularly, the influence of the reactive diluent and oligomer in the UV-cured urethane acrylate formulation on the wrinkle formation of coating films was investigated. Results showed that wrinkle resistance increases when DMTA loss peaks of coating network are broad and has shoulder. When modified aromatic urethane acrylate oligomer is used to replace the aliphatic one, resulting cured network provides coating film of high hardness and flexibility. Therefore, the high values of loss modulus as low temperature are considered to be the main reason for wrinkle resistance improvements. The SEM and instron data support above conclusion.

This study provides improved wrinkle recovery and UV protection capabilities as well as an antibacterial and deodorizing function to linen fabrics for summer shirts. The results obtained from this study are as follows. By setting catalyst concentration to 1.2% and DMDHEU concentration to 6% respectively and applying a heat treatment to them at $160^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes, the decrease of fabric strength could be minimized and the crease resistance of linen fabrics improved. Compared to the treatment with DMDHEU only, the crease resistance of linen fabrics could be maintained and degradation of their properties could be more effectively prevented by applying the mixture of the UV absorber and the nano silver to the DMDHEU resin. The UV protection of fabrics could be improved by adding the UV absorber. Although the separate treatment of resin or the nano silver had no effect on the improvement of the UV protection properties for treated fabrics, they could increase the UV protection capability when they were combined with the UV absorber. Linen fabrics could possess an antibiosis and deodorizing capability by applying the mixture of the UV absorber, the nano silver, and the resin. The UV protection, crease resistance and flexibility of finished fabrics were maintained even after laundering. Washed treated fabrics maintained excellent antibiosis and odor free capabilities compared to untreated fabrics.
This work was to realize the wrinkling behavior of spun silk fabric. The results were obtained through the various conditions such as temperature, wrinkling time, wrinkling load and crease recovery time. The obtained results were summerized as follows : 1. Wrinkle recovery of the silk fabric was decreased with the increase of temperature, humidity and the influence of humidity was superior to the influence of temperature. 2. The change of wrinkle recovery depending on the wrinkle recovery time showed the experimental equation (Y=a+b lnT). The wrinkle recovery increased with the lapse of wrinkle recovery time but arrived at the equilibrium position about 300 sec. 3. The value "K1" of the silk fabric in the "Voigt model" was inferior as compared with the polyester and Nylon. 4. The change of wrinkle recovery depending on the wrinkling time was decreased with the lapse of wrinkle recovery time but the change of the value "a" could not be fined. 5. The change of wrinkle recovery depending on the wrinkling load was same as above 4.
The purpose of this study is restoration for tearing strength of the durable press (DP) finished 100% cotton fabric by enzymatic treatment. Dimethylol Dihydroxy Ethylene Urea (DMDHEU) was used as a DP finish chemical. Enzymes (cellulase, pectinase, protease, lipolase) were selected based on their specific reaction activities. Ideal application of the enzymes for this work was to remove cross-links created by DMDHEU on the surface of the fibers to offer migration property between microstructures of cellulose, yet cross-links that exist inside of the fibers are still remained to impart effect of wrinkle resistance. Physical characteristics (tearing strength, wrinkle recovery, FT-IR) of enzyme treated samples were measured and compared. It was found out that, in case of enzyme treatment, most of enzymes didn't have a great effect on tearing strength, but, in case of Protease, tearing strength increased at DMDHEU 2% treatment. As a result of an experiment on wrinkle recovery of the textiles treated with enzyme making density of DMDHEU different whenever respective experiment was made, it was discovered that density of DMDHEU increased as wrinkle recovery increased and, in the relation to enzyme treatment especially in Lipase enzyme treatment, the lesser density of DMDHEU, the more wrinkle recovery increased.
