An Experimental Study to Prevent Debonding Failure of Full-Scale RC Beam Strengthened with Multi-Layer CFS

  • It has been known that debonding failures between CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) and concrete in the strengthened RC beams are initiated by the peeling of the sheets in the region of combined large moment and shear forces, being accompanied by the large shear deformation after flexural cracks. These shear deformation effects are seldom occurred in small-scale model tests, but debondings due to the large shear deformation effects are often observed in a full-scale model tests. The premature debonding failure of CFS, therefore, must be avoided to confirm the design strength of full-scale RC beam in strengthening designs. The reinforcing details, so- called 'U-Shape fiber wrap at mid-span' which wrapped the RC flexural members around the webs and tension face at critical section with CFS additionally, were proposed in this study to prevent the debonding of CFS. Other reinforcing detail, so called 'U-Shape fiber wrap at beam end' were included in this tests and comparisons were made between them.

  • In this thesis, a policing algorithm is proposed, which is one of the traffic management function in ATM networks. The proposed algorithm minimizes CLR(Cell Loss patio) of high priority cells and solves burstiness problem of the traffic caused by multiplexing and demultiplexing process. The proposed algorithm has been implemented with VHDL and is divided into three parts, which are an input module, an UPC module, and an output module. In implementation of the UPC module\`s memory access, memory address is assigned according to VCI\`s LSB(Lowest Significant Byte) of ATM header for convenience. And the error of VSA operation from counter\`s wrap-around can be recovered by the proposed method. ANAM library 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and design compiler of Synopsys are used for synthesis of the algorithm and Synopsys VSS tool is used for VHDL simulation of it

Easy and Simple Techniques to Reconstruct Natural Nailfold with the Wrap-around Flap for Finger Reconstruction

  • The wrap-around flap (WAF) has become a popular approach to thumb reconstruction because the results are functionally and cosmetically excellent. By modifying to a partial toenail transfer, the WAF can also be used for finger reconstruction. However, performing cosmetically superior finger reconstruction is a significant challenge because it is difficult to reconstruct the natural nailfold by partial nail transplantation, although partial nail transplantation is required to reconstruct a narrow fingernail. One side of the reconstructed lateral nailfold tends to be a missing nail margin, and one side of the proximal nailfold angle tends to be retracted. Based on the rationale that loss of the lateral nailfold volume due to the postoperative tension of the volar flap would result in a missing nail margin, the volume of the lateral nailfold was maintained with a single thread that was passed from the nail to the volar flap. Additionally, half of the proximal nailfold from the nail plate was elevated to advance it forward. The results indicated that a cosmetically natural nailfold was achieved with the WAF approach to finger reconstruction. These easy and simple techniques enable reconstruction of a cosmetically natural nailfold using WAF for finger reconstruction.

STRESS ANALYSIS ON THE ALVEOLAR BONE OF CANTILEVER BRIDGES REPLACING MAXILLARY LATERAL INCISOR (상악측절치 수복을 위한 Cantilever bridge)

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis the stress distribution induced by three unit PFM bridges and various cantilever bridges replacing maxillary latersal incisor. The simplified two-dimensional photoelastic models used for this study was contructed in the folio- wing way. CR/R ratio was designed to be 1 : 1, 1 : 1.25 and 1 : 1.5. The pontics of cantilever bridge supported by maxillary canines consisted of wrap-around type, rest-extension type, and simple type. 3-unit PFM bridge was constructed with traditional method. 1kg vertical static load was applied on the center of the incisal edge of the pontic. The stress pattern was examined and recorded by photography. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. The magnitude of stress on the abutment root apex area of a traditional 3-unit bridge was the lowest. 2. The model of cantilevered pontic with a rest showed the relatively well distributed stress around the abutment tooth. The model with simple pontic generated the greatest stress concentration in the supporting structure of the abutment tooth. 3. As the height of bone level reduced, the rotational and vertical force increased around the abutment tooth. 4. The stress concentration of the 3-unit bridges occured on the root apex and stress concentration of the cantilever briage occured on the root apex and cervix area, 5. In the case of the cantilever bridge, stress concentrated distally on the root apex area of the abutment tooth and additional stress was observed mesially on the upper part of the root. Especially in the case of the simple pontic, was phenomenon was more apparent than the others. 6. Force applied to cantilevered pontic was transmitted to the adjacent central incisor through the contact surface. Stress was markedly observed on the mesial cervix area in the case of simple pontic and on the root apex area in the case of wrap-around type and rest-extension type.

A Study on the Difference between the Roots of (K)Hanbok and Hanfu (한복과 한푸의 차이점 분석에 관한 연구)

  • (K)Hanbok, which is Korea's traditional clothing, differs from the Chinese Hanfu or Japanese Kimono. This study aims to understand the fundamental differences between (K)Hanbok and Hanfu. The Goryeo Dynasty (K)Hanbok, which was particularly popular in China, was established because the Ming Dynasty Hanfu and Chinese fashion were considerably influenced by the 'Koryo Yang'. Firstly, while (K)Hanbok is bulky, Hanfu of the Han Dynasty is characterized by forming a slim silhouette. Due to the climate of the Northern Hemisphere, (K)Hanbok shows a rich silhouette comprising multiple layers of inner pants and a pleated skirt over a voluminous underskirt. On the other hand, the Han's Hanfu creates a straight silhouette in the form of a wrap, revealing the contours of the body. The pleated skirt of the (K)Hanbok can use six to twelve width fabrics, depending on the social position; however, the Hanfu of the Han is a skirt without any pleats. Secondly, the clothing patterns, which have various shapes, are totally different in how they are made and sewn. The Korean (K)Hanbok is a two-piece separate, whereas the Chinese Hanfu style is a one-piece with a skirt. The short length of the (K)Hanbok jacket has a Sup which is cut and pasted allowing the front closure to overlap. Nevertheless, the Hanfu of the Han does not have this Sup because it is of a wrap-around, one-piece style and has an exceptionally large front, and wraps around at the waist which extends to the sides. Thirdly, the (K)Hanbok jacket has separate string Gorums for fastening, and an additional belt around the waist; however, in the case of Gorum, it is unnecessary for a wrapping style of Hanfu. Fourthly, Koreans as an agricultural horse-riding people, basically wore the trousers attached a comfortable gusset, while the Chinese Hanfu had no pants, but the Chinese wore Gaedanggo pants which exposed the hips, inevitably during the Warring States period.

Transplantation of the Neurosensory Free Flaps to the Hand (수부에 시행한 신경감각 유리 조직 이식술)

  • Microsurgical reconstruction of the hand demands recovery of the sensation of the reconstructed free flap as well as microsurgeon's intelligence, technique and experience. Even with adequate soft tissue coverage and skeletal mobility, an insensate hand is prone to further injury and is unlikely to be useful to the patients. Authors have performed 8 cases of neurosensory free flaps in the hand, 4 cases of wrap around, 3 dorsalis pedis and 1 lateral arm flap, from July 1992 through June 1999 and followed up average 4 years and 4 months. Wrap around flap was performed for reconstruction of 4 cases of thumb, repairing deep peroneal nerve and superficial radial nerve by epineurial neurorrhaphy, and followed up for average 3 years and 10 months and calculated 9mm in the static 2 point discrimination test. Dorsalis pedis flap were 3 cases for reconstruction of the ray amputation, extensor tendon exposure and wrist exposure. Deep peroneal nerve and branch of the ulnar nerve was repaired by epineurial neurorrhaphy calculating 6mm and superficial peroneal nerve and superficial radial nerve averaging 18mm in the static 2 point discrimination test for follow up average 2 years and 9 months. Lateral arm flap was 1 case for reconstruction of the ray amputation in the hand repairing posterior cutaneous nerve to the arm to the superficial radial nerve calculating 20mm for follow up 6 years and 8 months.

  • 다양한 지형정보를 제공하는 SAR 인터페로메트리 기법은 레이다의 위상정보를 이용하여 정밀 고도정보를 추출하는 첨단기술이다. SAR 데이터 주파수 aliasing 현상은 도플러 중심 주파수가 중심에 위치하지 않으므로 발생된느 것으로 주요 잡음요인으로 작용된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 SAR 인터페로메드리 전체 프로세싱 과정의 주요 모듈중 하나인 주파수 aliasing 제거 모듈의 구현 방안을 연구하였다. 본 논문에서 사용된 aliasing 제거 기법은 랩어라운드교정기법으로서 실험결과 매우 효과적으로 작용하였음을 알 수 있었으며, 제안된 구현방안은 차후 실제 적용이 가능함을 제시하였다.

  • In this paper, we consider the hamiltonian properties of m ${\times}$ n mesh networks with two wrap-around edges. We describe sufficient condition that at least two edges should be added to a mesh to make it hamiltonian-connected. We propose two graphs, M1(m,n) and M2(m,n). These are obtained by adding one and two edges respectively in the m${\times}$n mesh. We show the hamiltonian properties of M1(m,n) and prove that M2(m, n) is hamiltonian-connected using the hamiltonian properties of M1(m,n).

Error Analysis in the Numerical Solution of Rayleigh Integral (Rayleigh 적분의 수치해에 관한 오차분석)

  • The numerical evaluation of Rayleigh's integral for the sound source reconstruction can be speeded up by the use of angular frequency propagation method and the FFT. However, are several source of errors involved during the reconstruction. Besides the aliasing error due to undersampling in space, the wrap around error. which is caused by undersampling the kernel functionin frequency domain, and windowing effect are present. We found that there is no replicated source problem and the windowing effect is due to the windowing the kernel function In frequency domain, and, xero padding is always required to improve the quality of reconstruction.
