  • Computer development and new printing technology allow us to express a new type of digital textile designs those were not possible in the past. In this study, watercolor overlaying effect of various colors was tried using airbrush tool in Photoshop program. Photoshop program is a powerful graphic tool and can be used in textile design area to generate various types of designs. Woven texture was also applied to the design to give yarn dyed effects or rich appearance. Photoshop program was also used to develop woven texture without the help of the professional textile CAD. Photoshop channels enables the designers to apply various textures to the image. Plain weave and houndstooth were applied in this study. Colorways of the developed designs having watercolor effect and woven texture by applying Photoshop color adjustment function. Quick and simultaneous changes of colors were possible using this method. The developed textile designs were printed by transfer DTP. Successful textile design prints were expressed and showed watercolor overlaying effect and woven texture. The printed textiles show a little brighter color, and therefore, sample printing is recommendable in case of color sensitive production.

  • The functional non-woven fabrics have been applied in various industry fields, such as clothing, hygiene, environment, medical and so forth. The functional non-woven fabrics were manufactured by meltblown and finishing processes. These functional non-woven fabrics were based on 5wt% masterbatch using 2,000ppm nano-silver resin composite. Silver is one of the most universal antimicrobial substances. Nano-technology enables us to expand the surface area of silver particles markedly. Silver nano particles were successfully produced less than 50nm in size. The functional non-woven fabrics including nano-silver particles showed excellent antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) and Klebsieila pneumoniae (ATCC 4352). From the results, functional non-woven fabrics including silver nano particels probably will be available as a good and safe antibiotic alternative, such as mask medium filter, water purifier filter, hygiene wet tissues, marine products pad and so forth.

  • Reliable three-dimensional models of woven fabric composites had scarcely been proposed for their geometric complexity. Simplified models, mostly one- or two-dimensional, currently used are not considered effective enough because of their oversimplifications. In this paper, the equivalent thermal conductivities and elasticity properties of woven fabric composites are computed using homogenization technique. The computational results show that the strength and thermal conductivity linearly increase with fiber volume fraction and that the variations of undulation of fibers has little effect on equivalent material properties. Homogenization technique is proved useful in the study of woven fabric composites and may find a lot more applications in the area.

  • This study aims to analyze the physical properties of non-woven fabric sheets, which continue to grow in the cosmetic market. Non-woven fabric sheets were used as specimens, and a total of 17 samples were analyzed. To evaluate the physical properties of the non-woven fabric sheet, the weight, tensile strength, surface properties, free swell absorption, and wet stiffness were tested. Through the results itw was determined that non-woven fabric sheets for mask packs should be manufactured considering fiber arrangement so that the weight is 40 g/m2, and the tensile strength should be maintained near 12 kgf. In addition, it was confirmed that the material selection and process conditions should be adjusted so that the free swell absorption is at least 8 g/g, and the wet stiffness is 200 mg. Therefore, since the non-woven fabrics for the mask sheets can be used in various products depending on fabric composition, this study will be expected to be basic data for the continuous growth of the sheet-type mask packs coming to market.

  • In this study, we devised a parametric analysis workflow for efficiently analyzing the material properties of 3D woven materials. The parametric model uses wire spacing in the woven materials as a design parameter; we generated 2,500 numerical models with various combinations of these design parameters. Using MATLAB and ANSYS software, we obtained various material properties, such as bulk modulus, thermal conductivity, and fluid permeability of the woven materials, through a parametric batch analysis. We then used this large dataset of material properties to perform a regression analysis to validate the relationship between design variables and material properties, as well as the accuracy of numerical analysis. Furthermore, we constructed an artificial neural network capable of predicting the material properties of 3D woven materials on the basis of the obtained material database. The trained network can accurately estimate the material properties of the woven materials with arbitrary design parameters, without the need for numerical analyses.

  • The merits of activated carbon for removal of organic compounds have been well known in the various industrial fields. Fixing methods with activated carbon in the non-woven fabric have the advantages of fast adsorption and ease of handling when compared with bonding and coating methods. In this study, we have examined deodorization of non-woven fabrics fixed with activated carbon. We have been tested the deodorization of various kinds activated carbon and non-woven fabric structures. The effective mixing ratio of activated carbon was 5% on the weight of fabrics, which are closely related to the fabric structure. The activated carbon with higher mesh size show the better deodorization effect.

  • Polyester woven geotextiles to be bonded with nonwovens were manufactured for reinforcement and the allowable strength of these were obtained by the results of creep tests. Long-term design strength were calculated in consideration with factors of safety for design and construction and the long-term behaviors of geogrids were compared to those of composite woven geotextiles to examine the reinforcement function. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that these woven composite geotextiles could have the sufficient performance as an alternative geosynthetics instead of geogrids and the further study will be continue to confirm the possibility of woven composite geotextiles as the excellent reinforcing material.

  • In this study, thermoplastic urethane (TPU) coating yarns were prepared at various extruding temperatures. The fine structure and mechanical properties of resultant TPU coating yarns examined by the wide angle X-ray diffractometer (WAXD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), and tensile test. TPU coating yarns (prepared at extruding temperatures at $175^{\circ}C$) were confirmed as a stable fine structure that obtained excellent tensile strength and flexibility. The C samples prepared by optimized conditions made by TPU woven floor mat. The structure of the woven mat is $4{\times}4$ basket weave and have laminated with the EVA foam to obtained final TPU woven floor mat products. The resultant TPU woven floor mat was obtained to 1.5MN of tensile strength, 22% of the elongation, and 0.2MN of tear strength. The weight loss abrasion and the resilience by the ball rebound of the TPU-woven floor mat was prior to those of the PVC subsequently, we were able to develop a woven floor mat with TPU coating yarn and produce an eco-friendly high valuable woven floor mat using an interior product.
