The Study on the Role of Private Security in International Events (국제적 행사 경비와 민간경비의 역할에 관한 고찰)

  • Recently, the industry of private security needs to cope with system for specialization improvement to security business. Especially, private security will very important in various international events such as 2002 World Cup soccer game and so on. The analyses of this study have led to the following conclusions: First, the industry of private security must advance to trait by oneself. Second, it is needed that both public and private security must know about role-sharing between them on the basis of efficiency, and try to cooperate with each other for the events security. Third, it will educate and train their officials in professional techniques to events security. In addition, it should be expand to reserve manpower and for the motivation to security officials establish as minimum pay scale.

  • This study is to consider the character of cables in six World-Cup stadiums constructed in 2002 in Korea and to inspect problem on application of existing theory. The result of experiment shows that it is possible to determine the tension force of the real cables with an accuracy of 10${\sim}$60 by taking the cable bending stiffness. However, the reliance of the tension force experimentally determined could be changed in tension in the cable.

  • 최근의 야외경기장의 설계는 운동 경기 뿐만 아니라 각종이벤트 및 대형콘서트를 수용하는 다목적경기장으로 건설되어지고 있으며 지붕의 $50\%$이상이 천장으로 덮히는 야외경기장의 건설이 증가하는 추세로 변화되고 있으며 이에 대한 음향장해 현상이 심각한 실정이나 이에 대한 건축음향적인 대책은 미미한 실정이다. 본 연구는 서울월드컵경기장을 중심으로 경기장의 음향시스템을 고찰하고 과 측정결과 치와 음향시뮬레이션 결과치를 음향인자 (잔향시간, 명료도, 음압레벨)들을 서울시의 설계기준과 비교분석 평가 고찰하는데 있다.

  • 서울시는 인구과밀, 크고 낮은 많은 산들, 높은 차량증가율과 수도권의 공업과 인구집중화 등의 이유로 그간의 많은 노력과 행정력의 집중에도 불구하고 질소산화물과 오존농도는 오히려 증가패턴을 나타내고 있다. 2002년도는 세계적인 월드컵대회가 한일공동으로 개최될 예정이고, 개회식이 개최될 서울 마포구 상암동 일대는 월드컵경기장 공사와 주변정리 작업이 한창이다. 직선거리로 400-500m의 풍상측(주풍방향 서북풍)에는 세계에서 가장 큰 규모의 하나인 비위생적 쓰레기 매립지가 위치하고 있고 이는 15년간 9천2백만㎥의 쓰레기가 묻혔으며 매립이 중단된지 9년이 되었다.   • This study dealt with the comparison of lateral baring capacity for vertical PHC pile between predicted and measured values driven in weathered granite soils to build world cup gymnasium in Kwangju area. Recently, the calculation of horizontal bearing capacity of piles foundation has been considered very important for earthquake or wind resistant design in Korea. During this study , Matlock & Reese, Broms and Chang's methods were selected in prediction of lateral resistant of PHC piles. As for case study, the prediction values were compared with 5 measured ones based on ASTM. The result showed that prediction values proposed by Matlock & Reese , Chang and Broms were smaller that real values. Three proposed methods by Matlock & Reese and Chang based on lateral deflection and Broms by ultimated lateral resistance turned out valid in view of engineering practice.

  • To study marketing strategy changes caused by Korea fashion industry development process, the fashion marketing strategy changes of Japan, considered as the most similar one of Korea, was compared. At each period, p! roper cost efficiency strategies, product differentiation strategies, and market segment strategies has been selected and applied. The fashion industry foundation period namely practical usage clothing period of Korea follows 10 years after one of Japan. 90's highly sensitive fashion period namely fashion industry growth period follows 5 years after one of Japan. As entering to fashion industry maturity period with global competition, the time difference falls to less than 5 years. With hosting of 2002's World-Cup, Korea's global competitiveness has increased, and it appears to be possible of being fashion market leader in East Asia and Japan's rival on an equal footing.

  • Construction Management(CM) system, which was introduced some years ago to large national construction projects, such as the construction of Incheon New Airport, construction of high-speed railroad and World Cup stadiums, is considered to be still in its early stage and safety at each step of CM is very poorly controlled. In an attempt to improve such inferior safety management of domestic CM, this study made comparative analysis about operation system of safety management with CM system in domestic and abroad. Also suggested the model under consideration with CM, which is suitable for the situation of Korea.

An HDTV-Compatible 3DTV Broadcasting System

  • We introduce a high-definition three-dimensional television (3DTV) broadcasting system that is fully compatible with the existing transmission system of high-definition television (HDTV). Specifically, we developed high-definition 3DTV broadcasting subsystems including a 3DTV camera, 3DTV video multiplexer and demultiplexer, 3DTV receiver, and 3DTV outdoor broadcast van. To verify the developed subsystems, we performed experimental services of 3DTV broadcasting during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan. According to our subjective evaluation test, 88% of 273 viewers rated the perceived depth of 3DTV as “Good,” and 36% of the viewers preferred 3DTV to other digital broadcasting services.

Assessing the Biotope for Urban Nature Conservation -In Case of New Seoul Town- (도시생태계 보전을 위한 비오톱 평가기법 -새서울 타운을 대상으로-)

  • New Seoul Town is a new town in Seoul Mapo-Gu, Which is planed by Seoul metropolitan government. There are Nanji Waste reclaimed land and Seoul world-cup stadium, which is under construction in the new town. This study is executed for urban nature conservation by assessing the biotope in the new town. The biotope map is mae by the selective mapping method, and assessing the biotope is executed by a quick method, which is originated with R. Wittig and Scheriber(1983). The assessment criteria include the period of development, area, rarity and variety of habitat condition. In the result from this study, biotope type of the new town is classified eight types, and all biotope type is valuable for nature conservation. The reason of this result is because of little natural area which is rice field, farm field, forest, swampy land, etc, except New Seoul Town, in Seoul Mapo-Gu. And so, Biotope in New A Seoul Town, must be conserved and restored in new town urban planning.

  • Construction Management(CM) system, which was introduced some years ago to large national construction projects, such as the construction of Incheon New Airport, construction of high-speed railroad and World Cup stadiums, is considered to be still in its early stage and safety at each step of CM is very poorly controlled. In an attempt to improve such inferior safety control of domestic CM, this study analyzed safety control operation system in CM home and abroad and suggested a model for the construction of safety control management information system suitable to the conditions of Korea.
