  • Mobility of elderly people is an important issue in Korea (ROK) where the aging process of the population is so rapid. This paper aims to examine the unique characteristics of elderly travel behavior in comparison to younger people and the changes in such characteristics given that Korea (ROK) has the world's fastest aging population. To this end, the paper analyzes two recent large scale survey data sets, each including more than a quarter of a million individuals' travel diaries in metropolitan Seoul, collected in 2002 and 2006, respectively. The analysis found that elderly travel differs greatly from younger people's in many aspects, and the mobility of the elderly, particularly those aged 65 to 69, has increased a great deal. Recent reforms of public transportation systems in the city could contribute to the increase in elderly mobility.

  • Competition between air transportation and railways has grown fiercer in major countries around the world with the rise of high-speed railways. In South Korea, air passenger travel has been rapidly decreasing since the initial launch of the Seoul-Pusan KTX line in 2004 and second opening that followed in 2010. Further expansion of the high-speed railway is expected. At present, research efforts to verify the validity of constructing an underwater express railway tunnel between Ho-nam and Jeju Island are taking place. Considering the possible high speed railway connection between Seoul and Jeju Island, this thesis has analyzed the choice behavior of existing passengers of the major and low-cost carriers. For this, Stated Preference (SP) research has been performed for three variables, including fare, travel time and the number of runs, to estimate the substitution rate of each of the three variables. Binomial Logit Model has been estimated with the obtained data. The estimation of the model has found that airline passengers of major and low-cost carriers are willing to pay approximately 7,200 KRW and 5,000 KRW, respectively, to reduce travel time by one hour. If the number of runs in one day increases, it has been estimated that the passengers are willing to pay additional fares of about 390 KRW and 30 KRW, respectively. On the other hand, the substitution rate between the number of runs and the travel time was found to be somewhat insignificant. If the construction of the Seoul-Jeju line progresses in the future, this study could be used as preliminary data for determining fares, travel time and the number of runs.

  • This paper examines how Lee Gyubo expressed his inner consciousness in his poems, confining chiefly to the works that he composed before his travelling to Gangnam. Criticism of his poems during that period should be subjected to the fact that he was critical-minded about social issues and was eager to succeed as well. He was spending his unlucky life as an intellectual while the military group seized political power. He could not overcome the prejudice of others and expressed his solitude in his lyrics in which he described things around him in detail. By doing this he tried to preserve his inner purity away from dusty world. On the other way he was very sensitive to the passing of time as he was always eager to succeed. Lee Gyubo edited Gangnam-jip after his travelling to Gangnam. After his travel, he sought a government post continuously, and lived a tough life until he was appointed to Jikhallim. What is remarkable is that he seldom expressed his solitude or frustration after his travel in spite of his tough life. It is presumed that he changed his mind to go with the times during his travel and there we can find the meaning of his travel to Gangnam.

  • This study aims to propose a method of spatial therapy through spatial psychology in various ways of healing for emotional damage received by individuals. It is intended to prove the effectiveness and specify the method through instructional cases of spatial therapy for general university students. The method of spatial therapy was designed as a preliminary question(past)-space exploration (present)-travel plan(future). In the preliminary question, the students remembered the happy trip with their family and the pleasant memories with a person for the longest time. In the space exploration, the places the students visited were all different, but they were fully satisfied and happy about the place they had been to. The students fully remembered and expressed their feelings about the person they were with and the place. In their travel plans, students were fully prepared for the trip and looking forward to various therapy emotions they wanted to feel there. Most of the students said they wanted to find peace of mind through travel, feel peaceful feelings, and enjoy a beautiful world. Travel for spatial therapy or visiting certain places gives those who are tired and struggling enough therapy power.

  • Nowadays, based on the 4th Industrial Revolution, by using the CHATGPT function and 3D virtual reality technology, anyone can easily open a virtual environment WEB-based, smart tourism OPEN source and travel destination without having to directly visit the travel location in the real world. Using the API function, it provides the convenience of virtual tourism. However, this function does not work if the travel transportation system is suddenly changed due to sudden bad weather, travel operation information cannot be checked in real time, and due to a lack of flight cancellation information and passenger ship operation information, it cannot be used until the plane or ferry departs normally. A very inconvenient problem arises where you have to wait a long time in the waiting room. Therefore, in this paper, in order to solve this problem, automatic duty-free product information and automatic product payment functions were added even when passenger ship cancellations and operation information suddenly occur due to bad weather and multiple products are purchased during the trip. In addition, the computer simulation experiment was conducted on a WEB basis so that anyone can conveniently travel smartly.

  • In recent years, energy consumption in the transportation sector by expanding motorization continues to increase in almost every country in the world. Moreover, the growth rate of the transportation energy consumption is significantly higher than those of the civilian and industrial sectors. Therefore, every country strives to reduce its dependence on private transport, which is the main contributor to the transportation energy consumption. In many countries, concepts such as Transit Oriented Development (TOD) or New Urbanism, which controls road traffic by increasing the proportion of the public transportation significantly, have been implemented to encourage a modal shift to public transport. However, the level of change required for eliminating environmental problems is a challenging task. Minimizing transportation energy consumption by controlling the increase of the traffic demand and maintaining the level of urban mobility simultaneously is a pressing dilemma for each city. Grasping the impact of the diversity of the urban transport and infrastructure is very important to improve transportation energy efficiency. However, the potential for reducing urban transportation energy consumption has often been ineffectively demonstrated by the diversity of cities. Therefore, the accuracy of evaluating the current efficiency rate of the urban energy consumption is necessary. Nevertheless, quantitative analyses related to the efficiency of transportation energy consumption are scarce, and the research on the current condition of consumption efficiency based on international quantitative analysis is almost nonexistent. On the basis of this background problem definitions, this research first built a database of the transportation energy consumption of private modes in 119 cities, with an attempt to reflect individual travel behaviors calculated by Person Trip data. Subsequently, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used as an assessment method to evaluate the efficiency of transportation energy consumption by considering the diversity of the urban traffic features in the world cities. Finally, we clarified the current condition of consumption efficiency by attempting to propose a target values for improving transportation energy consumption.

  • Kim Chan-sam's 『世界一周無錢旅行記』 was released in 1962. This was a time when the general public was strongly restricted from traveling abroad. Most of the people lived in 'domestic'. Low development and political upheaval continued. The readership wanted a fantasy, which came out of a desire to escape from the peninsula. So was to become more popular around the popular characters called 'Kim Chan-sam'. Kim Chan-sam had to be a pushover to the public. This figure had to be secular and de-politicized. Above all, ideological bias had to be removed. The book's imaginary geography is the "world as a non-communist state" with a high purity. The Cold War ideology was prevalent throughout South Korean society. Kim Chan-sam knew exactly what he could and could not tell the South Korean reader. He couldn't tell you the reality of my readers not being able to travel abroad. Not to mention a society locked up 'domestic' on the Korean reality. The study analyzes Kim Chan-sam's storytelling strategy. Looking at the meaning of the travel fantasy, agenre of the 1960s, I would like to ask why travel writing in our time is still bound by its past limitations.
