Robot용 3축 Force Sensor 개발에 관한 연구 (Study on the Development of 3-axis Sensor for Robot)

  • The force sensor is essentially required in controlling robot manipulator in such applications as precise assembly of mechanical parts, deburring and polishing and various kinds of 6-axis force sensors are developed for these application. This paper presents the algorithm of horizontal assembly of circular cross-sectional workpiece using 3-axis force sensor and procedure to develop the sensor. The sensor is calibrated and tested using AID converter and 16 bit micro computer. The result is $\pm$0.03% FS of zero stability, 0.1%FS of linearity and $\pm$0.05% FS of resolution. The sensor will be used in the research of robot application such as assembly and deburring interfaced with micro computer based robot controller which is under development at the robotics lab.

상계해법과 유한요소법을 이용한 스피닝공정 해석에 관한 연구 (A study on the process of tube end spinning by the upper bound method and the finite element method)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate changes in the wall thickness of tube sinking and working forces by the upper bound method and ABAQUS code. The independent variables are ; workpiece material, original wall thickness of tube, die angle, friction, and reduction of diameter. The results indicate that these five variables are factors of the increase in wall-thickness and working forces. Three variables, a inner tube wall angle and two angles of the velocity discontinuous surfaces, are optimized in this proposed velocity field by the upper bound method. In this method, we can estimate the working forces and final tube thicknesses similar to actual forming process. Optimum process variables which are obtained by upper bound method are used in ABAQUS pre-model.

  • In this paper, an experimental study of a hot forging process is carried out using plasticine and the die set manufactured with the aid of rapid prototyping. In order to manufacture the die set, Stereolithography Apparatus(SLA) which is most widely used rapid prototyping system is introduced. Turbine blade forging is performed using palsticine and the SLA prototype die set. Through the experiment, it has been shown that SLA prototype is suitable to the die set for the plasticine workpiece, and the formability and the forming load of turbine blade forging are predicted.

구조용 세라믹스의 연삭특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Grinding Characteristics of Ceramics)

  • Structural ceramics such as $Al_2O_3$, SIC, and $Si_3N_4$ are difficult to grind materials because of their high hardness and brittleness. They are normally ground in brittle mode, but it is possible to be ground in ductile mode depending upon the grinding conditions. In this paper an experimental investigation has been carried out to see the relationship between the grinding energy and grinding mode. It has been found that the ductile mode grinding consumes more grinding energy than the brittle mode grinding. Thus, the grinding conditions of the higher specific grinding energy leads to the plastic deformation in the ground surface of workpiece and results in the better surface finish.

  • An experimental study of hot machining has performed to improve themachinability of Inconel 718. This experiment used plasma arc for heating materials and Whisker-reinforced aluminum oxide ceramic tool insert. An assembled plasma heating system are described and experimental results obtained from bothconventional and plasma hot machining of Iconel 718 are compared. Turning experiments with plasma heating demonstrated the following effectiveness. 1) The cutting force was reduced with increasing surface temperature of workpiece from 450 .deg. C up to 720 .deg. C as much as approximately from 20 to 40%. 2) Surface roughness(Ra) was improved by as much as a factor 2 in case of one pass cutting with new ceramic tool inserts. 3) The depth of cut notchwear at primarycutting tool was singificantly reduced.

  • Ultrasonic machining technology has been developed over recent years for manufacturing the quality-assured precision parts fur several industrial application such as optics, semiconductors, aerospace and automobile application. Ultrasonic needle horning is widely used in cutting(drilling) of non-conductive, brittle workpiece materials. This paper intends to understanding of the basic mechanism of ultrasonic needle horning. And frequency analysis program is used to easily predict the natural frequency of ultrasonic vibration cutting tools.

  • This paper is concerned with the process sequence design of longneck flange forming by using cold extrusion with thick hollow pipe. The conventional hot forming process to produce a longneck flange is investigated by thermo-viscoplastic finite element method to observe the metal flow in detail and evaluate design requirements. Based on the results of simulation of the current hot forming process, design strategy for improving the process sequence are developed using the thick hollow pipe. The main goal is to obtain an appropriate improved process sequence which can produce the required product most economically without tensile cracking, workpiece buckling, and overloading of tools. Newly process condition such as semi-die angle, reductio ratio of cross-sectional area of axisymmetrical extrusion process. The final designed process can provide very useful guidelines to other flange forming industries.

연마제 워터 제트에 의한 쿼츠의 절단특성 (Cutting Characteristics of Quartz by Abrasive Waterjet)

  • Abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting is an emerging technology for precision cutting of difficult-to-machining materials with the distinct advantages of no thermal effect, high machinability, high flexibility and small cutting forces. This paper investigated theoretical and experimental cutting characteristics associated with abrasive waterjet cutting of quartz GE214. It is shown that the proper variations of several cutting parameters such as waterjet cutting pressure, cutting speed and cutting depth improve the roughness on workpiece surfaces produced by AWJ cutting. From the experimental results by AWJ cutting of quartz GE214, the optimal cutting conditions to improve the surface roughness and precision were proposed and discussed.

  • Determination of the interface heat transfer coefficient was investigated in non-isothermal bulk forming of glass-coated Ti-6Al-4V. FE analysis and experiments were conducted. Equipment consisting of AISI Hl3 die was instrumented with thermocouples located at sub-surface of the bottom die. Die temperature changes were investigated in related to the process variables such as reduction, lubricant and initial die temperature. The calibration approach based on heat conduction and FE analysis using an inverse algorithm were used to evaluate the interface heat transfer between graphite-lubricated die and glass-coated workpiece. The coefficients determined were affected mainly by the contact pressure. The validation of the coefficients was made by the comparison between experimental data and FE analysis results.

형상압연시 연성파괴의 탄소성 유한요소해석 (The Elasto-Plastic Finite Element Analysis of Ductile Fracture in Shape Rolling)

  • During the shape rolling process the influence of reduction ration and taper of shape roller on deformation and limit of ductile fracture such as free surface cracks developing in the workpiece has been studied. The deformation behaviours were analyzed by the 3-dimensional elasto-pastic finite element method and the conditions of ductile fracture were determined from 3-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element method and modified Cockrogt-Latham criterion. The deformed geometry and prediction of ductile fracture by 3-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element method are compared with experimental results The calcuated results are in good agreements with experimental data. The analysis used in the study was found to be effective in predicting the shape rolling process.
