This paper treats the temperature effectiveness of the two-fluid counterflow regenerator in a rotary type. To avoid continual interpolation and to obtain the simple result in calculating that, it obtained the particular solution for the direct-transfer-type counterflow heat exchanger by the graphical procedures. Also, it introduced the empirical formula for the influence of the ratio of rotor matrix to minimum working fluid heat capacity rate with the particular solution induced. Particularly, substituting the published results of temperature effectiveness into the program, it obtained the simple and convenient equation which can applicate in the counterflow regenerator in a rotary type. To compare and discuss the results induced, selecting the regenerative air preheater and applying the their running datum and specifications to the related results, it shows that the above results are agree with the published results within absolute relative error, 3.0%.
Two-phase loop systems using the latent heat capacity of their working fluids can meet the increasing power requirements and are well suited to thermal management systems of future large applications, due to its abilities to handle large heat loads and to provide them at uniform temperatures regardless of the changes in the heat loads. Therefore some experiments on the effect of the gas and liquid superficial velocities, $j_G,\;j_L$ on flow pattern transition, void fraction and frictional pressure loss were performed on a co-current air-water flow in an adiabatic horizontal tube. The flow patterns were depended on the superficial velocity of each phase. It snowed that the increasing $j_L$, resulted in a significant increase in the frictional pressure loss for all flow patterns, at a constant $j_G$. The experimental results were also evaluated with some of existing models and correlations.

This study is to investigate the effect of a substantial drag reduction caused by the polymer(A611P) when the working fluids flow to the vertical direction in the vertical cylindrical equipment of closed flow system. The drag reduction is associated with the mechanical degrada-tion thermal degradation and heat transfer. By ignore the heat fluxs within the closed system the pressure drop due to the polymer concentration the flow velocity and flow time have been mea-sured. By taking into account the mechanical and thermal degradation in the closed system an experiment has been focused on the determination of the condition which could improve the pump capacity in the heat union electric power plant. Under the condition of non-boiling it has been found out that the change of heat flux has little influence on the drag reduction.
The purpose of this study was to develop a cooler/heater using a thermoelectric module combined with a parallel flow type oscillating heat pipe with R-142b as a work ing fluid. The experiment was performed for 16 thermoelectric modules (6 A/15 V, size: 40${\times}$40${\times}$4 mm), varying design parameters of the heat pipe (inclination angle, working fluid charging ratio, etc) . Experimental results indicate that the optimum charging ratio and the inclination angle of the parallel flow type oscillating heat pipe were 30% by volume and 30%, respectively. The maximum cooler/heater capacity were 479W (COP : 0.47) and 630W (COP : 0.9), respectively.

This study has been performed to investigate the thermal performance of variable conductance heat pipe (VCHP) with screen meshed wick. The active length of condenser section in a VCHP is varied by non-condensible gas, which controls the operating temperature, and the heat capacity of VCHP is controlled by the operating temperature. In this study, numerical analysis of the VCHP based on the diffusion model of non-condensible gas is done for the thermal control performance of VCHP. Water is used as a working fluid and nitrogen as a control non-condensible gas in the copper tube. As a result, the thermal conductance of VCHP has been compared with that of constant conductance heat pipe (CCHP) corresponding to the variation of operating temperature.
Generally most of pile foundations are constructed with group pile rather than single pile. The study on efficiency and bearing capacity which are major elements for rational design of this group pile has been actively progressed, whereas there are truly only a few studies of negative skin friction working on group pile due to the consolidation of ground. The purpose of this study is to determine, among the elements of negative skin friction applied to pile, the occurrence modality of negative skin friction at center, side, and corner of $3{\times}3$ group pile using model test and, based on those observations, to propose the effective design direction of group pile.
To make a inspection and maintenance of the high voltage equipment, electric machinery to transmit and distribute the electric power, the appearance of a simple and inexpensive indicator with which the charge condition of bare conductor parts could be read at a Stance has been needed. Liquid crystal has recently been expanding its application rapidly in appliances for everyday use. Since its display energy is extremely small, it is possible to obtain the working current with simple condenser voltage divider that makes use of stray capacity when it is applied to electric power equipment. Thus, an apparatus has finally appeared which is close to the one they have sought and indicates the existence of voltage impressions.

Recently, a thermal energy storage system has been developed actively fur the purpose of saving energy and reducing the peak electrical demand. Especially, ice slurry is a promising working fluid for low temperature energy storage systems. A flow of ice crystals has a large cooling capacity as a result of the involvement of latent heat. However, there are still problems related to the recrystallization of ice crystals for realizing long term storage and long distance transportation. To find improvements fur this, a method for the creation of ice crystals resistant to recrystallization has been proposed and researched by the use of an antifreeze protein (AFP) solution etc. In the present study, it has been investigated the growth of ice crystal in several kinds of water solution added non-ionic surfactant. The results shows that size of ice crystal was smaller with increasing in added surfactant. And ice crystal was not increased with added surfactant.
Safe, fast, efficient and effective railway is a main factor of economic development level of every country. This paper uses the DEA method to evaluate and compare the efficiency of 12 Regions of RAI. In addition, we introduce the reference(s) unit(s) for every inefficient region, and determine the amount of input decrease and/or output increase need to become them efficient. Findings indicate that in 2006, 4 regions of 12 are in Constant Return to Scale (CRS) status and 7 of them in Variable Return to Scale (VRS), and the average efficiency is 0.730 and 0.888, respectively. In other words, RAI works 27 percent under its capacity. More over results indicate that Hormozgan, Khorasan, Tehran and Isfahan Regions have the most efficiency respectively. The results show that the 8 regions, have been working in Increaser Return to Scale and 4 reminder Regions in Decrease Return to Scale. According to this results, we submit the suitable suggestion for improve the efficiency of the inefficient regions.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of an autocascade refrigeration system using the refrigerant miktures of R744 (carbon dioxide) and R134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane) as working fluids by simulation and experiment. Cycle simulation using a constant UA model in heat exchangers has been performed for R744/134a mixtures of the compositions in the range of from 10/90 to 30/70 by weight percentage. Variations of mass flow rate of refrigerant, compressor work, refrigeration capacity and COP with respect to mass fraction of R744/134a mixture were presented. Performance test has been executed in an autocascade refrigeration system by varying secondary fluid temperatures at evaporator and condenser inlets. Experimental results show similar trend with those from the simulation.
