Objectives; The purpose of the present study is to investigate workplace satisfaction level of dental technicians and the differences between that of dental lab owner's and that of employed dental technicians, who are working in dental laboratories. Methods; Samples were comprised of 137 dental technicians working in dental laboratories. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires and analyzed to frequency distribution, correlation, t-test and multiple regression analysis. Results; 1) Dental technicians generally are 'somewhat or a bit satisfied' with their workplace situations, regardless of position, sex, and individual career. 2) Mean values of 4 items out of 11 work situation factors of employed dental technicians were significantly lower than those of lab owner's. The 4 items are the openness of management, working environment, pay, and policy in promotion and raise. They would be sources of dissatisfaction and conflict. 3) Level of satisfaction was significantly correlated with 2 subordinate variables, i.e. working conditions and administration policy. There is a tendency that administration policy is a bit more important for lab owners, while working conditions are a bit more important for employed dental technicians. Conclusion; The employer-employee relationship of dental technicians seems to be sound, as no signs of troublesome problem is detected. But the discrepancy revealed in the above results is telling that there certainly exist some disagreement in the viewpoints of the two groups. It is necessary for the dental technicians to find ways to deal with the possible triggers of discord and discontent.
The objectives of this study were (1) to describe doctors' perception and attitudes toward patient safety culture and medical error reporting in their working unit and hospitals, (2) to examine whether these perception and attitudes differ by doctors' characteristics, such as sex, position, and specialties, and (3) to understand the relationship between overall perception of patient safety in their working unit and each sub domain of patient safety culture. A survey was conducted with 135 doctors working in a university hospital in Korea. After descriptive analyses and chi-square tests of subgroup differences, a multivariate-regression of overall perception of patient safety in their unit with sub-domains of patient safety culture was conducted. Overall, a significant proportion of doctors expressed negative perception of their working units' patient safety culture, many reporting potentials for patient safety problems to occur in their unit. They also negatively viewed their hospital leadership's commitment on patient safety. Regarding the patient safety in their working unit, doctors were most worried about staffing level and observance of safety procedures. Most doctors did not know how and which medical error to report. They also perceived that medical errors would work against them personally and penalize them. About 22 percent of respondents believed that even seriously harmful medical errors were not reported.

The Korea Seaman's Act is providing that fishermen s salaries are exceptionally defined and working hours and paid leave are not defined at all. Significant problems of Fishermen's Labor Condition are, (1) It is hard to guarantee the basic right of fishermen as their wages are variable depending on the catch. (2) Excessive working hours would hamper the labor reproduction ability and increase the frequency of disaster. (3) Moreover, fishermen have to search for a new job following the lay off after working aboard during the period defined by contract. The possible implement of Seamen's Act are : (1) The wage system must be unified by regular wages. If it is hard to perish the lay system its relative importance should be diminished whereas the fixed minimum wages and the allowance depending on the position and working days should be paid. (2) This discrimination of the fishing vessels from merchant should be eliminated by removing the item on the Act which excludes the fishermen on the working hours. If it is hard to do so practically the lower regulations defining the maximum periods of duty and minimum periods of rest for fishermen must enact separately as in Japan and England. (3) The difference in the provisions of paid leave between the merchant seamen and fishermen must be abolished (4) It is the most desirable to improve the fishermen's labor conditions through the completion of the Act. However, before doing this, the employers and employees must try to solve the problems through the collective agreement by themselves.
Purpose: A chisel mounted on working implement, such as agricultural machinery used in irregular farming conditions, is subjected to highly variable fatigue loading during work. To ensure the safety of the chisel on a working implement for the duration of its service life, fatigue testing must be performed with the proper fatigue test load conditions. In this study, working loads for a chisel were developed by reconstructing loads from strain gage data collected during field tests and used to conduct fatigue tests on the chisel component. Methods: FE analysis with nCode software was utilized to select the proper quantity and locations of strain gages for load measurements. A fatigue test was performed to experimentally verify the fatigue strength of the chisel and to evaluate the validity of the load history developed with the load reconstruction technique. Results: A strain history for the chisel was obtained from data collected during field tests. The data was filtered for the 14-16 km/h speed range, connected, and merged. The chisel load history was developed using the load reconstruction technique. The resulting load history was expressed as a load spectrum using the rain-flow counting method. Conclusions: A fatigue test was conducted on a chisel under a constant load condition with an equivalent load amplitude and number of cycles, as calculated by Miner's Rule for linear damage accumulation. During the fatigue test, there were no cracks at any position. It is concluded that the fatigue test method proposed in this study can be utilized successfully as a durability evaluation method for the chisel.

The Bubble Jet Loop Heat Pipe (BJLHP) is designed to operate in the horizontal orientation. The motion of the bubble generated by boiling working fluid on a heater surface in the evaporating section of the BJLHP helps the working fluid transfer heat to the condensing portion. In this study, we changed the position of the heater in the evaporating section from concentric to eccentric. The concentric heater is located at the center of the tube in the evaporating part, and the eccentric heater is located at the bottom of the inner surface of the same tube. We used R-134a as the working fluid, and the charging ratio was 50%vol. We measured the temperatures of the evaporating and condensing sections by changing the input electric power from 50 W to 200 W, measuring every 50 W. The results of the experiment show that the effective thermal conductivity of BJLHP using an eccentric heater is four times higher than the BJLHP obtained using a concentric heater. Additionally, we conducted a visualization experiment on the evaporating portion of BJLHP to determine why the effective thermal conductivity was higher. The working fluid was water, and we took pictures of the flow visualization for BJLHP. Nucleate boiling with the eccentric heater was more intense and generated more bubbles. Therefore, the eccentric heater was more saturated by the liquefied working fluid.

Purpose: This study was conducted to assess the working conditions of home health nurses in hospital-based home health institutions nationwide. Methods: A secondary data analysis study was conducted based on the survey data on the working conditions of home health nurses, jointly conducted by the Korean Home Health Care Nurses Association and the Academic Society of Home Health Care Nurses in September 2020. Results: Of the home health nurses respondents, 82.4% worked in tertiary hospitals and general hospitals. Most of the working hours of home health nurses were 40 hours a week. Traffic accidents accounted for a significant proportion of accidents experienced by the home health nurse while performing their duties. Most of welfare and benefits systems applicable to home health institutions were in place. The time allocated to provision of home health nursing services was usually more than 30 minutes but less than 1 hour. The type of position of the individual in charge of home health care differed according to the type of medical institution. Conclusion: It is recommended that continuous investigation and analysis be conducted in order to establish a direction for improvement of home health nurses' working conditions, based on the related accumulated data.
The author has synchronously recorded the average electromyographic activities of the sternocleidomastoid muscles, the anterior temporal muacles and the masseter muscles. The marious levels of occlusal force were checked during clenching the resin plates which are made to fit each of the maxillary and the mandibular teeth. These activities were recorded in order to study the EMG activity pattern of the sternocleidomastoid muscle during the masticatory function of the jaw in 11 healthy subjects. The obtined results were as follows : 1. The electromyographic activities of the sternocleidomastoid muscles, the anterior temporal muscles and the masseter muscles were increased as the occlusal force increased, and the sternocleidomastoid muscles have a lineal correlationship with the occlusal force. 2. The sternocleidomastoid muscles and the masseter muscles showed higher EMG activity during clenching at the ventroflexed head position rather than at the extended head position. (p<0.05) However the EMG activities of the anterior temporal muscles showed no difference between the ventroflexed position and the extended position of the head. 3. The electromyographic activities of the sternocleidomastoid muscles, the anterior temporal muscles and the masseter muscles during clenching are similar at the habitual position and at the retruded condylar position. 4. The electromyographic activities of the sternocleidomastoid muscles, the anterior temporal muscles and the masseter muscles on the working side during mastication of gum and almonds are significantly higher than on the balancing side except the masseter muscles during mastication of almonds. (p<0.05, P<0.01) 5. The asymmetry of gum are lower than that during mastication of almonds. (p<0.05) The asymmetry indices of the sternocleidomastoid muscles are higher than those of the anterior temporal muscles and masseter muscles.
Pneumatic actuators are widely used in a variety of hazardous working environments. Any process that involves pneumatic actuation is also recognized as "eco-friendly". In most cases, applications of pneumatic actuators require only point-to-point control. In recent years, research efforts have been directed toward achieving precise position tracking control. In this study, a tracking position control method is proposed and experimentally evaluated for a linear positioning system. The positioning system is composed of a pneumatic actuator and a 3-port proportional valve. The proposed controller has an inner pressure control loop and an outer position control loop. A PID controller with feedback linearization is used in the pressure control loop to nullify the nonlinearity arising from the compressibility of the air. The position controller is also a PID controller augmented with the friction compensation by a neural network. Experimental results indicate that the proposed controller significantly improves the tracking performance.rformance.

Assembly process data can be gathered in real time in a manufacturing execution system (MES) server using proximity sensors, barcodes, RFID, ZigBee, Bluetooth, wireless sensor networks, etc. Although this is suitable for identifying process flow and checking production progress, it is difficult to trace the location of individual workers in real time for missing work or trajectories within the work area. To overcome this, the location and trajectory of the working tool can be analyzed in real time through a position tracking system of an operator's working tool. It can instruct the operator to perform a consistent working process. Productivity and quality improvement can be achieved by an alarming or blocking operator with possible assembly defects during the assembly process in real time. To this end, we developed a real-time tool position-tracking sensor system based on Ultra Wide Band (UWB) trilateration using a Kalman filter to eliminate mechanical vibration and radio communication noise.
The present study was conducted to analyze the causes of stress on the part of Korean radiological technologists depending on their working environments. For this purpose, 890 questionnaires were distributed to and collected from radiological technologists who were working at 44 general hospitals in 16 cities and provinces of Korea during the period from the mid July to the end of August 2003. The collected data were compared between regions, divided into the capital, metropolitan, medium and small cities, whose results are as follows: 1. As factors affecting working conditions, drinking was found to exert more influence on radiological technologists in small- and medium-sized cities, while loyalty to immediate seniors and organizations was the one producing greater influence on them in metropolitan cities than other cities. Overall, position, job satisfaction and physical condition seemed to have a great effect on them (p<0.001).2. In terms of factors related to their roles, job satisfaction and physical condition played in general a greater role for radiological technologists (p<0.001). Immediate seniors and behavioral conducts were also found to have a lot influence on them (p<0.01).3. As for job conflicts, the kind of medical institutions seemed to exercise a great deal of impact on radiological technologists (p<0.05), while colleagues, immediate seniors, job satisfaction and physical conditions also produced a lot of influence on them as a whole (p<0.001).4. Regarding job autonomy, radiological technologists were found to have been less influenced by position in metropolitan cities and by immediate seniors in the capital city (p<0.01). As a whole, however, age and job satisfaction acted as decisive factors of influence on them (p<0.001). 5. Among factors related to job burden, gender played a bigger role for radiological technologists in metropolitan cities as the kind of medical institutions did in small- and medium-sized cities. Centrally, job satisfaction and behavioral conducts exercised a great impact on them (p<0.001).6. Job stability seemed to be more immensely linked to gender and physical conditions in metropolitan cities whereas position did more in the capital city. In general, how ever, job satisfaction produced a far-reaching (p<0.001).
