Rebar Fabrication Process in Both Field Processing and Factory Processing for Adopting Lean Construction

  • Due to increasing competition of construction companies, it is required to optimize the management of construction projects and "lean" concepts are rapidly spreaded in construction industry. Steel work accounts for a large proportion in construction work, and a variety of attempts to efficiently perform steel work has currently made. And since rebar (Engineer-to-Order) can be engineered through design once order is placed, it gives the great impact on construction, thus, entire management is required. The purpose of this study is to present the method to increase the efficiency of field processing method of steel work in terms of lean construction. Once we examine process of steel work and identify the flow, we would like to analyze which processes should be improved through value analysis approach and present the improvement plans. Also, this study examines cases of field processing and factory processing, and it identifies the waste factors in the procurement process. Finally, this study would like to present the result of analysis from the perspectives of value. The rebar delivery process is divided into several steps and the duration of every step is surveyed. Using duration data, VAT (Value added time) can be calculated for analyzing the efficiency of the process.

  • The value engineering(VE) in construction projects is systematic method which improve quality as well as reduction input cost and as construction VE work extends the range of application, the importance is rising. For this reason studies are needed to enforce design value engineering work systemically and effectively. In this study, we analyzed the problem of the present construction VE processing and deduced the model to be most suitable the work efficiency. As suggested model reflects systemically requirement item of owner and user, it will make approaching direction and standard establishment possible. So it will increase the following function analysis in analyzing step and the effectiveness of creating idea and make successful VE result.

  • This study aims to improve the situation in which accurate job information for small and medium-sized enterprises is not known and it is difficult to identify jobs that meet the preference criteria from the perspective of the 'employer brand'. To this end, through a hierarchical regression analysis of 700 young job seekers, the factors affecting the intention to get a job centered on five value factors (Interest Value, Social Value, Economic Value, Development Value and Application Value) were identified by reflecting the brand categorization theory. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that young job seekers are more interested in work culture, environment, and utilization of their majors, which directly affect job seekers, rather than characteristics of companies such as talent development, products, services, and management, and are influenced by their intention to work. This suggests that the job policy for SMEs needs to be changed from the existing quantitative support-centered to a qualitative improvement that strengthens the use of platform-centered job information.

  • Value Engineering (VE) is an organized process with an impressive history of improving value and quality. VE can be applied to the construction projects with having good study results. The VE study in construction projects gives identification of opportunities to remove unnecessary costs while assuring quality, performance, reliability, and other factors will meet or exceed the clients needs. VE techniques can save money, reduce time, and improve quality, reliability, maintainability, and performance. VE can also make improving of human factors (altitudes, creativity), and team work. According to the results of VE study in recent USA, 5∼35% reduction in initial costs have been made for the construction projects (ROI ranges : 100∼1000). To have successful work results, if possible, VE study shall be considered at project planning stage or basic design stage later than field work stage with application of VE JOB PLAN, multi-disciplinary approach, and proper techniques in respective study phases (pre-workshop / information gathering / function analysis / creativity / judgement and evaluation / development / presentation and implementation) among the detail techniques in many.

  • The purpose of this study is to design effective working systems which adapt to change in human needs by developing an method which forms into optimal groups using the measure of cohesion. Two main results can be derived from the study as follows : First, the clustering method based on the entropic measure of cohesion is predominant with respect to any other methods proposed in designing the work groups, since this clustering criterion includes symmetrical relations of total work groups and the dissimilarity as well as the similarity relations of predicate value, the clustering method based on this criterion is suitable for designing the new work structure. Second, total work group is clustered as the workers who have the equal predicate value and then clustering results are produced through the combinatorial agglomerative hierarchical clustering method. This clustering method present more economic results than the method that clustering the total work group do.

A Study of the Relation Between Self-Esteem and Attitude Toward Household Work and its Satisfaction. (주부의 자아 존중감과 가사 노동에 대한 태도 및 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relations between housewife's self esteem and attitude toward household work its satisfaction and to find out how independent variables(housewife's age, education level, employment, household work helper, type of family) have effect on the two dependent variables. The measurement of self-esteem was based on the self-concept test standarized by Jung Won Sick, reformed the Fitts measurement for Korean Society. In order to measure of attitude toward household work and its satisfaction, based on the previous research, researcher made the measurement . the research was conducted on 234 housewives in Seoul in September 1984. Data was analyzed by percentage, mean, frequence analysis of variances, Pearson's correlation coefficient. The result can be summarized as following. 1)Over on half of housewives have high self-esteem comparatively. 2) Age and education level were variables to have influence n the attitude toward household work. 3)The attitude toward household work and its satisfaction comparatively were high. 4)Education level and type of family were variables to have influence on the attitude toward household work. Education level, employment and household work helper were variables to have influence on the satisfaction of house hold work. 5) Level of Self-esteem has influence on the attitude toward household work and its satisfaction. The higher level of self-esteem was, the higher becomes the score of the attitude toward house hold work and its satisfaction. Following suggestions can be extracted form the results of above study. 1) research of housewife's self-esteem didn't established a setted theory yet. I think, therefore, it requires deeper study about housewife's household work look upon as her occupation and relation between the household work as her occupation and her self-esteem in this area. 2) Population and sociological variables, used in this study, hardly influenced on self-esteem, the attitude toward household work and its satisfaction. Also the result didn't correspond with one another. So I think it requires need of further study how psychological and family function variables will have influence on housewife's self-esteem, the attitude toward household work and its satisfaction. 3) To recognized the value of household work objectively, many researchers tried to investigate of economical value of household work, But if housewife can realize her self-actualization through household work, it requires the study that try to objectively not only estimate the economic value of household work, but also the contribution of the aspect of family psychology.

Research on Security Threats for SMEs by Workplace in the COVID-19 Environment

  • Although telecommuting of SMEs has been activated due to the COVID-19 phenomenon, the security model for this is insufficient. Accordingly, the study was divided into threats centered on smartphones and threats centered on smartphone users. As a result of the study, one-third of SMEs are working from home. At this company with 100 employees, more than 50% of them work from home.and In the metal, machinery and chemical industries with factories, 20% of them work from home. As a result of analyzing the correlation between telecommuting according to the presence or absence of a factory, the correlation coefficient (r=-.385) has a clear linear relationship. And, as a result of the regression analysis, the R-squared value was 0.148, so companies with factories are highly related to telecommuting. In other words, we found that SMEs with factories do not want to work from home. In addition, as a result of analyzing the level of security threats, there were great concerns about theft, hacking, and phone taking during remote work. As limitations of the study, there were difficulties in selecting SMEs from the population in a non-face-to-face work environment, and there were limitations in the questionnaire items for deriving a non-face-to-face work environment.

  • The project control system based on the actual values of three objects shall be operated continuously in a timely manner. For collecting/tracking accurate actual performance data, a reasonable basis of measuring work performance and its related measuring methods are needed. Therefore, this research proposes a method of developing and operating the construction progress measurement system. The problem of the conventional method is the difficulty to construct control accounts and to define the basis of measuring the performance of each control account. Therefore, this research proposes the preferable, formal methodology that produces the progress value of the smallest work unit by surveying the installed quantities and estimates percent complete of groups of works or entire project by earned value concept. This research in connection with the hereafter research of the weight value of control accounts will contribute to apply in practice and to develop the scientific construction management technique in the construction industry. Further researches how to trend and forecast the project using the measured progress value are recommended for putting the prosed system of this research to practical use.

Comparison of Work Values of Undergraduate-level Foodservice Major Students (외식.급식경영 전공 학생들의 근로 가치관 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the work values of undergraduate-level foodservice major students. In order to assess work values of the participating students, this study adopted 'Maryland Work Values Inventory'. Data from a total of 290 surveys were collected. The participants consisted of 146 commercial foodservice major students and 144 institutional foodservice major students. Among the seven work values, both groups ranked 'job advancement' as the most important work value. Commercial foodservice major students rated 'altruism' as the least important work value, whereas it was 'stimulation' for institutional foodservice major students. 'Need for work' was evaluated statistically higher by junior and senior students compared to sophomore students of commercial foodservice major (p<0.05). In both foodservice majors, a positive relationship was found between work value scores and grade levels. All work value scores tended to be higher for students in higher grades. This tendency was especially statistically clear for the value 'need for work' for commercial foodservice major students and 'money and prestige' for institutional foodservice major students (p<0.05). There were some gaps in the work values between students with different career field choices. For the commercial foodservice majors, those interested in fine dining perceived 'satisfaction and accomplishment' and 'altruism' as more important [4.33 (p<0.05) and 4.05 (p<0.01), respectively] compared to students who had interests in fast food restaurants (4.06 and 3.67 respectively). Scores for 'satisfaction & accomplishment' (p<0.05), 'money & prestige' (p<0.001), and 'stimulation' (p<0.001) were significantly different among institutional foodservice major students. In addition, students more interested in industrial foodservice field regarded 'money & prestige' and 'stimulation' as less important as indicated by noticeably lower scores (3.74, 3.55 respectively) in comparison to the other group (p<0.001). The results of this study, which explored foodservice major students' work values, suggest that there is an increased need for the students to build up their work values as well as for the foodservice industry to offer appropriate work values to future foodservice employees.

A Study on the Types of Work Values of Radiologic Technology Students (방사선과 학생의 직업가치관 유형에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to identify the types of work values of radiological technology students and to verify the characteristics of them. The population of this study was the radiological technology students from 7 colleges randomly chosen in the whole country. data collected from 791 subjects were used. Types of work values were identified through the factor analysis and t-test between variables was used to determine the characteristics of the students. The research instrument used in this study was the Maryland Work Value Inventory(MWVI) designed by Meitus, R. The findings of this study were as follows ; 1. The types of work values of radiological technology students can be classified into 6 categories ; social contribution, achievement, capability, work interest, social status, economic reward. 2. Social contribution, achievement, capablity and work interest were classified as 'internal work values', while social status and economic reward as 'external work values'. 3. Work values of the radiological technology students were economic reward, social status, achievement, capablity, work interest, social contribution in order. 4. External work values of the radiological technology students got higher grade than internal work values.
