Deployment of an advanced on-line monitoring of the component integrity offers a prospect of improved performance, enhanced safety, and reduced overall cost for nuclear power plants. Ultrasonic guided waves have been known as one of the promising techniques that could be utilized for on-line monitoring. The present work is aimed at developing a new method for on-line monitoring of the pipes during the operation period of nuclear power plants. For this purpose, the steam generator (S/G) tube was selected as an object of tile experiment. Dispersion corves and the incident angles corresponding to the specific modes were calculated for the S/G tube. The modes of guided waves were identified by the time-frequency diagrams obtained by the short time Fourier transform. It was experimentally confirmed that there was no mode conversion when the ultrasonic guided waves passed over the curved region of the S/G tube. An optimum mode of guided wave for the S/G tube was suggested and verified by the experiment.

Ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs) are intriguing in the sense that they are much larger than dwarf galaxies but have much lower surface brightness than normal galaxies. To date, UDGs have been found only in the local universe. Taking advantage of deep and high-resolution HST images, we search for UDGs in massive galaxy clusters in the distant universe. In this work, we present our search results of UDGs in three massive clusters of the Hubble Frontier Fields: Abell 2744 (z=0.308), Abell S1063 (z=0.348), and Abell 370 (z=0.375). These clusters are the most distant and massive among the host systems of known UDGs. The color-magnitude diagrams of these clusters show that UDGs are mainly located in the faint end of the red sequence. This means that most UDGs in these clusters consist of old stars. Interestingly, we found a few blue UDGs, which implies that they had recent star formation. The radial number densities of UDGs clearly decrease in the central region of the clusters in contrast to those of bright galaxies which keep rising. This implies that a large fraction of UDGs in the central region were tidally disrupted. These features are consistent with those of UDGs in nearby galaxy clusters. We estimate the total number of UDGs (N(UDG)) in each cluster. The abundance of UDGs shows a tight relation with the virial masses (M_200) of thier host systems: M_200 \propto N(UDG)^(1.01+/-0.05). This slope is found to be very close to one, indicating that efficiency of UDGs does not significantly depend on the host environments. Furthermore, estimation of dynamical masses of UDGs indicates that most UDGs have dwarf-like masses (M_200 < 10^11 M_Sun), but a few UDGs have $L{\ast}$-like masses (M_200 > 10^11 M_Sun). In summary, UDGs in distant massive clusters are found to be similar to those in the local universe.

For high-quality education of the modern generation of students, forms of organizing the educational process and the latest methods of obtaining knowledge that differ from traditional ones are necessary. The importance of multimedia teaching tools is shown, which are promising and highly effective tools that allow the teacher not only to present an array of information in a larger volume than traditional sources of information, but also to include text, graphs, diagrams, sound, animation, video, etc. in a visually integrated form. Approaches to the classification of multimedia learning tools are revealed. Special features, advantages of multimedia, expediency of use and their disadvantages are highlighted. A comprehensive analysis of the capabilities of multimedia teaching tools gave grounds for identifying the didactic functions that they perform. Several areas of multimedia application are described. Multimedia technologies make it possible to implement several basic methods of pedagogical activity, which are traditionally divided into active and passive principles of student interaction with the computer, which are revealed in the article. Important conditions for the implementation of multimedia technologies in the educational process are indicated. The feasibility of using multimedia in education is illustrated by examples. Of particular importance in education are game forms of learning, in the implementation of which educational elements based on media material play an important role. The influence of the game on the development of attention by means of works of media culture, which are very diverse in form and character, is shown. The importance of the role of multimedia in student education is indicated. In the educational process of multimedia students, a number of educational functions are implemented, which are presented in the article. Recommendations for using multimedia are given.
Sediment samples were taken at about half-mile intervals from all the inajor rivers draining the St. Austell granite mass. The minus 80 mesh(B.S.S.) fraction of each sample was analysed, using semiquantitative methods, for sodium, potassium, lithium, phosphorus, nickel, chromium, tin, tungsten, arsenic copper, zinc and lead. The work was carried out with the view to gaining further information as to the geographical distribution of such different granite facies as might axist, and to investigate the geochemical dispersion of these elements with relation to mineralisation in this area. The sesults confirm Exley's suggestion that the mass consists of two major granite intrusions, the earlier undifferentiated one is joined on the west by a later differentiated intrutive. During the work grid deviation maps proved particularly useful in obtaining data concerning the nature of the granite but frequency diagrams were not particularly helpful. All the known lode areas were associated with stream sediments containing anomalously high concentrations of lode metals and it is concluded that these high concentrations are due premarily to lode material transferred to the streams in the form of tailings lost during milling operations.

Since the sub-prime mortgage crisis from the US in 2008, Korean housing market has plummeted. However, Korean local lease contract, Chonsei, price has been increasing. This increase of Chonsei price can be a threat to the low-income people because most of them prefer to live at the house with a Chonsei contract. In order to solve this problem, the Korean Government implemented several Chonsei policies to secure low-incomers' residence by decreasing the price of Chonsei; however, due to the lack of understanding on housing and Chonsei market, Korean government policy seemed to fail on getting effective results. In the housing and Chonsei market, there are many stakeholders with their own interest, hence, simple thoughts about housing and Chonsei market, such as more house supply will decrease house price, would not work in a real complex housing market. In this research, we suggests system dynamics conceptual model which consists of causal-loop-diagrams for the Chonsei market as well as the housing market. In addition, we tries to explain why the policy did not work effectively using the examples from the government's past measures. In results, Chonsei price has its own homeostasis characteristic and different price movement with housing price in the short and long term period. Unless government does not have a structural causation mind in implementing policies in the real estate market, the government may not attain intended effectiveness on both markets.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the elements of activating happiness education suggested by Noddings is reflected in the Home Economics part of Middle School Technology-Home Economics Textbook Volume 1 of 2009 Curriculum Revision. The introduction style of unit, sub-unit, and small chapter, the objectives, the body contents, the activity resources, the tables/diagrams/pictures, the supplementry and advancedl materials, and the wrap-up and evaluation of sub-unit and units of Home Economics part of Technology Home Economics textbook volume 1 were analyzed. Noddings suggested the elements for activating happiness education in five areas of personal life sector including 'home making', 'place and nature', 'parenting', 'chracter and spiriual experiences', and 'growth of interpersonal relationships' and two areas of public one including 'preperation for work' and 'community, democracy and voluntary activities'. The specific elements in seven sectors of activating happiness education were extracted using the content analysis. How the elements of those suggested by Noddings were reflected in the various parts of the textbook were analyzed in terms of the closeness of approaches, contents, and procedures between Noddings's and textbook. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The degree to which the elements of activating happiness education were reflected in the textbook differed by each unit. The elements of activating happiness education were reflected the most frequently in the unit of 'Understanding Adolescence' and the least frequently in the unit of 'Self-management of Adolescence'. 2. Although the elements of activating happiness education were generally reflected in all the elements of a textbook, these elements were relatively more reflected in the body contents and tables/diagrams/pictures.

The Home Economics units of Technology Home Economics textbooks 1&2 reflects the factors of personal life and public life that Noddings suggested for activating happiness. However, personal life-related factors are relatively more reflected in the units than the public life-related factors. 3. Although the elements of activating happiness education were generally reflected in all the elements of a textbook, these elements were relatively more reflected in the Unit Introduction, Sub-unit Introduction, Chapter and Introduction, Objectives, body contents and tables/diagrams/pictures.
The failure phenomenon of overlaid concrete structures, such as surface crack, and peel-off failure, shear bond failure in the end contact zone, was investigated due to humidity changes. To investigate this failure phenomenon, the surface tensile stress, and the shear stress, the vertical tensile stress in the contact zone were analysed using the non-linear stress-strain relationship of material such as strain-hardening- and strain-softening diagrams. Overlay thickness and overlay material were the main variables in the analyses. It is assumed that the initial surface humidity of overlaid concrete structures was 100% r.H. With a atmospheric humidity of 55% r.H. and two load cases for drying(LCI), curing and drying(LC2), the stress states of overlaid concrete structures were calculated. The result shows that only fictitious cracks occurred in the overlay surface of CM2O, ECM25, and no shear bond failure occurred in the contact zone without CM2O. The peel-off failure was proved to be the main cause of the damage in the overlaid concrete structures. Only for overlay thickness of 1cm occurred no peel-off failure in the case of drying after a long-term public use(LC1). In the case of curing and drying during overlay work(LC2) occurred the peel-off failure within 1.5days for all the overlaid concrete structures.

The key features of maritime accidents are the change of their attributes by new risks from time to time. To prevent maritime accidents in Korea, the impacts by new risks on domestic safety environments should be identified or predicted. The purpose of this paper is to find the hazard factors by new risks on maritime safety in Korea. The meaning of new risks is the elements of accident hazard which is compiled from new or rare or unprecedented events in the worldwide maritime transportations. The problems of new risks are the lacks of optimum countermeasures to mitigate accident risks. Using the questionnaires with 152 event scenarios classified by 20 accident causes, the hazard identification and risk analysis of new risks was performed based on the Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) by IMO. A total of 22 Influence Diagrams, which is to depict the transit flows between accident causes to consequences, is used in the construction of 152 event scenarios. A total of 20 accidents causes is the same contents as the causation factors represented in Statistical Year Book for Maritime Accidents of Korean Maritime Safety Tribunals. After defining the evaluation equations to the response results of questionnaires by 46 experts, the work for risk analysis is carried out. As results from the analysis of 152 scenarios, it is known that the root cause to affect on maritime safety in Korea is the pressure of business competition and it led to the lacks of well experienced crews, the overload of vessel operations and crew's fatigue. In addition, as results from the analysis of 20 accident causes, the three accident causes are to be candidate as main issues in Korea such as the inadequate preparedness of departure, the neglecting of watch keeping in bridge and the inadequate management of ship operations. All of the results are thought to be as basic hazard factors to safety impediments. It is thus found that the optimum Risk Control Options to remove the hazard factors and to mitigate consequences required are the following two factors: business competition and crewing problems.

In order to search for the reasonable planning directions for representing traditional landscape, this study conducted the comparative analysis of the designs on the panels and their constructions from both winners of "The Landscape Design Competitions for City Infrastructure of Minlak(2) District in Uijeongbu" and "The Design Competition for Dongtan(2) District Land Development Phase 1". The representing targets and views, the composition and placement of representing space, the design of representing facilities and landscape planting were examined based on the text, master plans, elevations and cross sections, diagrams, images, and perspective drawings proposed from the competition panels. Then, the landscape constructions were reviewed. The results are as follows: First, the types of the representing targets and views are the agricultural landscape, as the local landscape of target area, which are divided into the life space of a traditional village, the traditional water space, and the traditional culture. Second, as to the composition and placement of representing space, the traditional theme spaces are formulated considering the surrounding land use and the local cultural heritage. However, some spaces were changed to the exercise space or convenient facility spaces required in a neighborhood park. Third, in the case of the representing facilities, a round island in the square pond, a traditional pavilion and Hwagye(terraced flower bed) were made without the facilities designed creatively. Fourth, the application of traditional planting techniques was focused on planting trees in the village forest on an island in the square pond and on Hwagye. Fifth, the traditional representing work has gradually advanced with the selection of subject and experimental facility designs based on the professional references. Sixth, the choice of the realizable subject, the expertise for information analysis and the creative design of the traditional facility are required in the future.
