  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the work of the existing manpower dependent cleaning method by investigating the window cleaning site. In this study, detailed work contents were confirmed by on-site investigation and interview with experts, and the relationship, procedure, repetition work, and time required for each work were analyzed. The future analysis results will be used as a basic data for comparative analysis of productivity and economical efficiency with the window cleaning device to be developed.

  • Safety diagnosis of various structural components and facilities is indispensable for preventing catastrophic failure of material by time-dependent and environment accelerating degradation. Also, this diagnosis of operating components should be done periodically for safe maintenance and economical repair. However, conventional standard methods for mechanical properties have the problems of bulky specimen, destructive procedure and complex procedure of specimen sampling. So, a non-destructive and simple mechanical testing method using small specimen is needed. Therefore, an advanced indentation technique was developed as a potential method for non-destructive testing of in-field structures. This technique measures indentation load-depth curve during indentation and analyzes the mechanical properties related to deformation such as yield strength, tensile strength and work-hardening index. In this paper, we characterized the tensile properties including yield and tensile strengths of the V-modified Cr-Mo steels in petro-chemical and thermo-electrical plants. And also, the effects of hydrogen-assisted degradation of the V-modified Cr-Mo steels were analyzed in terms of work-hardening index and yield ratio.

  • Unlike OLEDs, there is no lifetime testing procedure for TFTs. In this work, we have defined such a procedure and developed a method for the accelerated stress testing of TFT pixel circuits in a-Si AMOLED displays. The acceleration factors derived are based on high current and temperature stress, and can be used to significantly reduce the testing time required to guarantee a 20000-hour display backplane lifespan.

  • This work describes an on-line method and procedure for calculating the fluid properties in real time while system is in operation. The method utilizes function blocks of distributed control systems. Thermodynamic relations of fluid from tables along with a fluid property formula are imbedded into the proposed signal processing block. Once the pressure and temperature measurements are entered the system provides other properties.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a procedure for economic evaluation of computerization of the office works in business. In particular, this paper is concerned with how to estimate elemental costs and benefits attributable to the computerization of the office work. This paper includes also how to integrate the elemental costs and benefits so that measures for economic evaluation may be obtained.

  • Arvesen (1969) has shown a procedure which produces an approximate confidence interval for a variance component in unbalanced one-way classification model. In this paper, his work is extended to the case when the model of interest is unbalanced two-way classification. Following the procedure described in this paper, approximate confidence intervals are computed by a Monte Carlo simulation.

  • During in door or outdoor mass culture, Porphyra have been easily contaminated with bacteria, protozoa and microalgal species. Several axenic treatments for Porphyra thalli have been published (Polne-Fuller and Gibo 1984; Chen and McCracken 1993), but axenic techniques for neutral spores and conchocelis we not developed. In this work we describe the procedure for axenic isolation of neutral spores and conchocelis of Porphyra yezoensis (omitted)

  • In the construction of underground structures, it is critical to accurately predict the ground deformations during excavation. In this paper, a finite element procedure for the computation of solid displacement and fluid pore pressure during incremental excavation is presented based on Biot's theory. The numerical formulation is done using the virtual work principle. The proposed procedure is applied to some example problems with different excavation rates and permeabilities.
