The stability prediction of shallow buried tunnels is one of the most difficult tasks in civil engineering. The aim of this work is to predict the state of collapse in shallow tunnel in layered soils by employing non-associated flow rule and nonlinear failure criterion within the framework of upper bound theorem. Particular emphasis is first given to consider the effects of dilation on the collapse mechanism of shallow tunnel. Furthermore, the seepage forces and surface settlement are considered to analyze the influence of different dilation coefficients on the collapse shape. Two different curve functions which describe two different soil layers are obtained by virtual work equations under the variational principle. The distinct characteristics of falling blocks up and down the water level are discussed in the present work. According to the numerical results, the potential collapse range decreases with the increase of the dilation coefficient. In layered soils, both of the single layer's dilation coefficient and two layers' dilation coefficients increase, the range of the potential collapse block reduces.

A large volume of work has been attempted to improve the separation efficiency of cyclone by establishing new design and optimum operation. An auxiliary device called Post Cyclone (PoC) has been introduced and tested in an earlier work (In order to reduce the emission of fine dust from the reverse flow cyclones). This work applies the PoC to remove the dust and gaseous elements using a centrifugal effect remained in the discharging flow over the cyclone. As a result of the experiment, the efficiency was found best at the high gas concentration and low inlet velocity.
A multiple criteria model for the facility layout problem considers both of the quantitative, the cost of the work flow, and qualitative, the closeness rating score, aspect. Rosenblatt, Fortenberry & Cox and Urban have developed multiple criteria models that consider both of the quantitative and qualitative aspect. Fortenberry & Cox's multiplicity model penalizes facilities with undesirable closeness rating and high work flows more than those undesirable closeness rating and low work flow between them to contribute to the objective function regardless of the closeness rating between these facilities. In this paper, it is intended to develops a improved multiple-criteria facility layout model considering the function for maintaning the distance between facilities.
This paper describes the demonstration of successful fabrication and initial characterization of micromachined pressure sensors and micromachined jets (microjets) fabricated for use in macro flow control and other applications. In this work, the microfabrication technology was investigated to create a micromachined fluidic control system with a goal of application in practical fluids problems, such as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-scale aerodynamic control. Approaches of this work include: (1) the development of suitable micromachined synthetic jets (microjets) as actuators, which obviate the need to physically extend micromachined structures into an external flow; and (2) a non-silicon alternative micromachining fabrication technology based on metallic substrates and lamination (in addition to traditional MEMS technologies) which will allow the realization of larger scale, more robust structures and larger array active areas for fluidic systems. As an initial study, an array of MEMS pressure sensors and an array of MEMS modulators for orifice-based control of microjets have been fabricated, and characterized. Both pressure sensors and modulators have been built using stainless steel as a substrate and a combination of lamination and traditional micromachining processes as fabrication technologies.
The present work was undertaken to numerically analyze the defrosting phenomena of windshield glass. In order to analysis the phase change from frost to water on windshield glass by discharging hot air from a defroster nozzle, the flow and the temperature field of the cabin interior, the heat transfer through the windshield glass, and the phase change of frost should be solve simultaneously. In the present work, the flow field was obtained by solving 3-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, and the temperature field was computed from the incompressible energy equation. The phase change process was solved by the enthalpy method. For the code validation, the temperature and the phase change of the driven cavity were calculated. The calculation showed a good agreement with other numerical results. Then, the present code was applied to the defrosting problem of a real automobile, and a good agreement with the experimental data was also obtained.
The discharge coefficient in segmental wedge haying ninety degrees yeller angle for the five kinds of opening ratio with differential pressure taps located at both upstream and downstream of one diameter of pipe was measured. Main purpose of this work is placed on specifying the characteristic of discharge coefficient of a segmental wedge used as a primary element of flow metering devices, and suggestion for the fixed location of pressure taps useful. Although the range of the opening ratio over this work is more expanded than previous studies. The opening ratios of segmental wedge, namely 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7 were investigated. The Reynolds number based on the spool inside diameter ranges from 12,000 to 380,000.
A combustion project was completed regarding the development of a high-flow-rate purge burner in cooperation with three city gas companies(Pusan, Taegu, Samchulli). The project, started in May 1991, aimed at purging the line-packed-gas safely and quickly before getting into gas pipe working or relocation. According to the results, the purging noise is less than 80dB due to silencer screen. multi-nozzle and outlet inserted tube employed. In addition, the developed burner shows an increased work efficiency of 40-50% more as compared to the performance of conventional purge equipments. The project result is regarded as the first high-flow-rate purge burner developed within Korea. contributing to shortening purge hours, safe field work and easiness of purge site selection.
In this study, to research in-cylinder flow characteristics of spark-ignited engine with intake valve closing timing change for Miller cycle. 3D simulation study were used 6 different intake valve profile with $CAD10^{\circ}$ gap for retard intake valve closing timing. Comparison of In-cylinder flow pattern characteristic were accompanied between Base and LIVC. And the efficiency of volume and the work of compression were analyzed with simulation study. When intake valve closing angle was retarded in $CAD50^{\circ}$, the pressure in cylinder was decreased about 12~13 bar and volume efficiency was reduced about 16%. The efficiency of volume and the work of compression were reduced on LIVC.

This paper aims to compare the use of Centrifugal Turbine and Tesla Turbine in an application of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) Machine using Isopentane as working fluid expanding. The working fluid has boiling point below boiling water and works in low-temperature sources between $80-120^{\circ}C$ which can be produced from waste heat, solar-thermal energy and geothermal energy etc. The experiment on ORC machine reveals that the suitability of high pressure pump for working fluid has result on the efficiency of work. In addition, Thermodynamics theory on P-h diagram also presented the effect of heat sources' temperature and flow rate on any work. Thus, the study and design on ORC machine has to concern mainly on pressure pump, flow rate and optimized temperature. Result experiment and calculate ORC Machine using centrifugal Turbine efficiency better than Tesla turbine 30% but Tesla Turbine is cheaper and easily structure. Further study on the machine can be developed throughout the county due to its low cost and efficiency.
This study concluded the results of a research on the features of cement based permeation grout, based on some important grout parameters, such as the rheological properties (yield stress and viscosity), coefficient of permeability to grout ($k_G$) and the inject ability of cement grout (N and $N_c$ assessment), which govern the performance of cement based permeation grouting in porous media. Due to the limited knowledge of these important grout parameters and other influencing factors (filtration pressure, rate and time of injection and the grout volume) used in the field work, the application of cement based permeation grouting is still largely a trial and error process in the current practice, especially in the local construction industry. It is seen possible to use simple formulas in order to select the injection parameters and to evaluate their inter-relationship, as well as to optimize injection spacing and times with respect to injection source dimensions and in-situ permeability. The validity of spherical and cylindrical flow model was not verified by any past research works covered in the literature review. Therefore, a theoretical investigation including grout flow models and significant grout parameters for the design of permeation grouting was conducted in this study. This two grout flow models were applied for three grout mixes prepared for w/c=0.75, w/c=1.00 and w/c=1.25 in this study. The relations between injection times, radius, pump pressure and flow rate for both flow models were investigated and the results were presented. Furthermore, in order to investigate these two flow model, some rheological properties of the grout mixes, particle size distribution of the cement used in this study and some geotechnical properties of the sand used in this work were defined and presented.
