Structural Characterization of pre-miRNA 155

  • MiRNA-155, upregulated in various cancers, is one of the miRNAs that suppress apoptosis of human cancer. Thus, inhibition of the maturation of miRNA-155 could be an effective way to induce apoptotic cancer cell death. The apical stem-loop of the pre-miRNA-155 has been known as a Dicer biding site for RNA cleavage. Here, to understand the molecular basis of the tertiary interaction between pre-miRNA-155 with Dicer, we characterize the structure of the apical stem-loop of pre-miRNA-155 using NMR spectroscopy. The RNA has a stem-bulge-stem-loop-stem structure, which is consist of G-C Watson-Crick and G-U Wobble base pairs. The assignments of imino- protons were further confirmed by 2D $^{15}N-^1H$ HSQC NMR spectrum. The NMR parameters obtained in this study can be further used to investigate the tertiary interaction between pre-miRNA-155 and other biomolecules such as protein, nucleic acids, or small chemicals which might be used to control the apoptosis of cancer.

적응단면기법을 이용한 뇌모형제작 (Fabrication of a Brain Model using the Adaptive Slicing Technique)

  • RP(Rapid Prototyping) has been used in the various industrial applications. This paper presents the optimization techniques fur fabricated 3D model design using RP machine for the medical field. Once the original brain model data are obtained from 2D slices of MRI/CT machine, the data can be modeled as an optimal ellipse. The objective of this study includes optimization of fabrication time and surface roughness using the adaptive slicing method. It can reduce fabrication time without losing surface roughness quality by accumulating the slices with variable thickness. According to the parameter tuning and synthesis of its effect, more suitable parameter values can be obtained by enhanced 3D brain model fabrication. Therefore, accurate 3D brain model fabricated by RP machine can enable a surgeon to perform pre-operation. to make a decision for the operation sequence and to perceive the 3D positions in prototype, before delicate operation of actual surgery.

우주 유연 붐의 열적 유기 진동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermally-induced Vibration of Space Flexible Booms)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomena of the thermally-induced vibration for the flexible space structure due to abrupt change of radiation heating circumstance using the numerical analyze and experiment test. In order to verify this structure, numerical approaches on the simplified flexible tube were compared with experimental test results at the ground experimental facility In this analyze, it was found that the thermal deformation occurs firstly due to fast radiation heating of flexible structure and then the thermally-induced vibration would be induced due to small periodic change of temperature. According to comparison of numerical and experimental result, in case of no tip mass, the first mode vibration by the numerical analyze was O.78Hz same as that of the experimental result However in case of increase tip-masses of 8g l6g, 50g and 100g, the first modes vibration theoretical analyze were 1.75Hz, 1.3Hz, 0.87Hz and O.73Hz, in decrease trend respectively and those by experimental test were 234Hz, 1.5Hz, O.78Hz and O.78Hz in decrease trend respectively Although using the simpled equation for the estimation, the estimation results were similar to experimental results.

  • This study is aimed at utilizing LCA processor with BIM LOD, eliciting the problems of the existing environmental assessment by constructing the database for environmental values of green buildings. For these objects, environmental load database of BIM construction material and evaluation process are presented, after matching BIM family based environmental load database which is available during evaluation stage, input-output tables and Korea LCI database to standard item code of public procurement service. It is a important factor in environmental assessment of building to develop database unit of standard item code for BIM and construction material. Thus, the results of this study are expected to provide basic data for improving effectiveness of construction through BIM based environmental load evaluation database. Furthermore, the provided environmental load database unit for construction material is considered to be available as basic information for BIM study by suggesting a processor connecting BIM with LCA and along with this, continuous examination on the connection process is needed.

데이터 오프로딩을 위한 WCDMA 기반 펨토셀의 커버리지 분석 (Coverage Analysis of WCDMA-based Femto Cells for Data Offloading)

  • 고성능 스마트폰이 본격 보급되면서 폭발적으로 증가하고 있는 데이터 트래픽을 효과적으로 수용하기 위한 해법들에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이동통신용으로 활용할 수 있는 주파수에 제한이 있기 때문에, 최근에는 동일주파수를 사용하면서 추가적으로 용량을 확보할 수 있는 펨토셀에 대한 연구 및 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 매크로 신호가 존재하는 환경에서 데이터 오프로딩을 위하여 펨토셀을 구축할 경우를 가정하여, 펨토셀의 커버리지를 수학적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 펨토셀의 출력이 증가할수록 그리고 파일럿 채널에 할당하는 전력의 비율이 높아질수록 펨토셀의 커버리지가 증가하지만, 매크로 기지국 신호가 강한 트래픽 밀집 지역에서는 펨토셀의 커버리지가 매우 제한적임을 알 수 있었다.

  • Steady state and transient thermal analysis has been done by a finite element method in a diode of 12kV blocking voltage for microwave oven. The diode was fabricated by soldering ten pieces of 1200V diodes in series, capping a dummy wafer at the far end of diode series, and finally copper wire bonded for building anode and cathode terminal. In order to achieve high voltage and reliability, the edge of each diode was beveled and passivated by resin and epoxy with a thickness of $25{\mu}m$ and $3700{\mu}m$, respectively. The chip size, thickness and material properties were very important factor for high voltage diode package. And also, thermal stress value was highest in the edge of diode and solder. So, design of edge in silicon was very important to thermal stress.

분사주조한 Al기지 입자강화 복합재료의 마모특성 (Characterization of Wear Resistance of Particle Reinforced Al Matrix Composite Manufactured by Centrifugal Spray Casting)

  • $Al_2O_3$, SiC reinforced Al matrix composites were fabricated by centrifugal spray casting method and their wear resistance characteristics have been studied. Particles are generally uniformly distributed in the microstructure of as-cast specimens. In order to investigate the effect of secondary deformation, hot rolling was performed for each specimen of pure Al matrix composites with a reduction of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% at $400{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, respectively. Microstructure of specimen showed that particle distribution density and hardness increased because of increasing of reduction ratio. Wear test with a various sliding velocity of 1.98, 2.38, 2.88 and 3.53m/sec showed that the wear resistance characterization of composite improved remarkably compared to the normal alloy and performs without reinforced particles. Microstructural observation for the worn surface of pure Al specimens without particles showed that a change in wear mechanism seemed to separate layer by surface fatigue. In other case of Al composite reinforced with $Al_2O_3$ and SiC, the grinder type of wear mechanism was shown.

Search for Gravity Waves with n New All-sky Camera System

  • Gravity waves have been searched for with a new all-sky camera system over Korean Peninsular. The all-sky camera consists of a 37mm/F4.5 Mamiya fisheye lens with a 180 dog field of view, interference filters and a 1024 by 1024 CCD camera. The all-sky camera has been tested near Daejeon city, and moved to Mt. Bohyun where the largest astronomical telescope is operated in Korea. A clear wave pattern was successfully detected in OH filter images over Mt. Bohyun on July 18, 2001, indicating that small scale coherent gravity waves perturbed OH airglow near the mesopause. Other wave features are since then observed with Na 589.8nm and OI 630.0nm filters. Since a Japanese all-sky camera network has already detected traveling ionospheric disturbances (TID) over the northeast-southwest range of Japanese islands, we hope our all-sky camera extends the coverage of the TID's observations to the west direction. We plan to operate our all-sky camera all year around to study seasonal variation of wave activities over the mid-latitude upper atmosphere.

금속이온이 처리된 활성탄소섬유의 흡착과 항균성 (Adsorption and Antibacterial Properties of Metal Ion Treated Activated Carbon Fiber)

  • 금속이 처리된 활성탄소섬유에 대한 물리 화학적 흡착특성과 항균효과에 대한 연구를 하였다. Cu가 처리된 활성탄소섬유에 관한 물리 흡착 연구에 의한 등온곡선으로부터 BET비표면적 값은 $688.2-887.8m^2/g$의 범위에 분포하였다. 또한 흡착 등온곡선으로부터 t-방법을 도입하여 미세 동공 부피 값과 동공의 평균 크기를 얻었다. SEM 연구로부터 활성탄소섬유의 많은 미세 동공들이 처리된 금속에 의하여 가리움 현상을 일으키는 것으로 나타났다. Escherichia coli에 대한 항균효과를 알아보기 위한 결과로부터 Cu의 양을 증가시켜 처리함에 따라 항균 활성 면적이 증가함을 하였다. 이들 결과로부터 금속이 처리된 활성탄소섬유에 대한 항균 메카니즘을 제시하였다.

CDMA 및 OFDM 기반 무선측위의 다중경로오차 특성 비교분석 (A Comparison of the Multipath Error Property In Wireless Location of CDMA and OFDM)

  • This paper shows that the OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) system is robust to multipath than CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) system and it has a strong possibility to be utilized as a supplementing wireless location system for the forthcoming portable internet network. The OFDM system based on IEEE 802.16e is a wireless TDD (Time Division Duplex) OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system providing portable internet services in 2.3 GHz frequency band and is scheduled in service in Korea starting in 2006. In this paper, multipath error is calculated using a two-ray model and compared with that of a CDMA system which is following IS-95. The OFDM system shows a maximum multipath error of 3 m while a CDMA system shows a maximum multipath error of 61 m. For this simulation, an early-late technique is used. This technique is usually used to match synchronization of signal in DLL(Delay Lock Loop).
