Statistical methods such as frequency, percentile, arithmetic mean, analysis of variances(X2 and F values)were used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows; 1) It is revealed that more than half(59.7%) of the college women achieve normal or above normal degree of self-actualization. 2)It is revealed that most college women's attitude toward matrimony is positive and they have a large acquaintance with the opposite sex. Especially, they are eager to became employed after entering into matrimony. 3) It is revealed that the more satisfaction a college woman's mother feels about her own matrimony, the more positive attitude her daughter has toward marriage. some college women who do not want to have a child have a positive attitude toward divorce. This means that their matrimony depends upon their view of marriage. 4) It is revealed that the more self-actualization college women feel, the more negative attitude they have toward selecting their husband. 5)It is revealed that the less self-actualization college women feel, the more negative attitude they have toward having a large acquaintance with the opposite sex and they have a dependent attitude toward living with their parents 6) It is revealed that most college women want their husband to have higher academic career than hers regardless of her own self-actualization degree and they want have a job after entering into matrimony. • The purpose of this study is to capture how marriage migrant women, who are burdened with the luggage of the social, cultural, and historical 'past,' reconstruct their own 'experiences in reality' as subjective agents after their immigration into a new space. By applying a phenomenological method, this study analyzes the world of life in which marriage migrant women come to have experiences in the dimensions of bodilihood, spatiality, temporality, and relatedness. As a result of the analysis, marriage migrant women never think of their bodiliness as the subject of discrimination though they have some differences in skin colors and cultural aspects, and make efforts to overcome prejudices in reality withtheir pride of body. As for the spatiality, marriage migrant women attempts at a spatial turn in which they reconstruct a novel sociocultural space. With respect to the temporality, marriage migrant women recognize themselves not as passive subjects who only resent reality but as being prepared for future actively. As for the relatedness, marriage migrant women show life in which they pioneer their own areas on the basis of extended personal relations.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the experiential meaning of child-rearing for marriage immigrant women in Korea in the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: Using the hermeneutic descriptive phenomenology framework developed by Colaizzi, 10 marriage immigrant women rearing preschool and school-age children were invited through purposive and snowball sampling from two multicultural support centers in Korea. The participants were rearing one or two children, and their original nationalities were Vietnamese, Japanese, Cambodian, and Chinese. Individual in-depth, face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were conducted from September 1 to November 30, 2021. We extracted significant statements from the transcripts, transformed these into abstract formulations, and organized them into theme clusters and themes to authentically capture the essence of the participants' subjective experiences. Results: Four theme clusters with 14 themes were derived. The four theme clusters identified were "navigating child healthcare alone," "guilt for not providing a social experience," "worry about media-dependent parenting," and "feelings of incompleteness and exclusion." This study explored the perspectives of mothers raising children as marriage migrant women who experienced physical and emotional health crises due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The findings underscore that marriage immigrant women encountered heightened challenges in managing their children's health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic due to linguistic and cultural barriers limiting access to healthcare and information. Additionally, these women experienced considerable emotional stress from perceived inadequacies in providing a holistic social and developmental environment for their children under extensive social restrictions.

  • Objectives: This study compared the risk of preterm birth and low birth weight between native-born and foreign-born women. Methods: By Using the birth registration data, every woman who gave birth between 2010 and 2016 in Korea was included in the analysis. Duration from marriage to pregnancy was measured by month and multiple socioeconomic and demographic characteristics were controlled. Results: The risks of preterm birth and low birth weight for native-born and foreign-born women differed according to the duration of marriage or birth order. For the first infant, foreign-born women were more likely to have pereterm birth or low birth weight than the native-born in the early stage of marriage but nativeborn women had higher risks than the foreign-born in the middle and later stage of marriage. For the second infant, foreign-born women were less likely to have pereterm birth or low birth weight than the native-born regardless of the duration of marriage.
