Visible light communications (VLC) uses modern solid-state LEDs to broadcast information. Emerging white-light LEDs allows the combination of lighting and optical wireless communication in one optical source. In this paper, a new LED lighting using one-chip-type white LED is proposed for efficient illumination and optical wireless communications. Performance analysis such as horizontal illuminance, 3-dB cut-off frequency, inter-symbol interference, signal-to-noise ratio and bit-error rate shows the effects of the shapes of LED lighting. Performance of the proposed LED lighting under the existence of obstacles is superior to that of the existing LED lighting in illumination and optical wireless communication.
The paper presents a numerical underwater channel model developed in MATLAB for estimating the optical link budget between a light emitting diode (LED) based optical transmitter and a photo diode (PD) receiver when operated in the harbor, coastal and deep waters locations in the Bay of Bengal. The water samples are collected at different locations in the Bay of Bengal using a water sampler during an offshore research cruise. The optical attenuation, the main inherent parameter determining the range of the optical communication link is identified for the different waters using an underwater irradiance measurement system in the laboratory. The identified parameters are applied to the numerical model and found that a 10 W LED and a photo diode based system can provide the optical budget required for a horizontal underwater communication range of about 0.5, 14 and 35 m in the harbor, coastal and deep waters locations respectively. By increasing the transmitter power to 50 W, the operating range of the communication link could be increased up to 53 m in deep water locations in the Bay of Bengal.

Today's wireless communication needs the super-high speed for picture transmission as well as voice. The optical communication with the very wide bandwidth is suitable for this demand. To fulfill the optical wireless communication, however, the atmospheric attenuation in rainy weather condition must be overcome. In the optical satellite up-link communication between geo-satellite and earth station, the factors of attenuation are turbulence, pointing error, scattering, and so on. The most serious factor for these is the scattering by rain. Under the weather conditiion of rain and cloud, in this paper, the atmospheic attenuation which affects the optical satellite up-link communication was considered, and the optimum idameter of the optical satellite transmitting antenna in the earth station versus elevation angles, data rates and rainfall rates was presented.

Visible light communication (VLC) using optical sources which can be simultaneously utilized for illumination and communication is currently an attractive option for wireless personal area network. Improving the data rate in optical wireless communication system is challenging due to the limited bandwidth of the optical sources. In this paper, we design the singular value decomposition (SVD)-based multiplexing multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system to support two data streams in optical wireless channels. In order to improve the spectral efficiency, the rate adaptation using multi-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) is applied according to the channel condition and we propose the method to allocate the optical power, the offset and the size of modulation scheme theoretically under the constraints of the nonnegativity of the modulated signals, the aggregate optical power and the bit error rate (BER) requirement. The simulation results show that the proposed allocation method gives the better performance than the method to allocate the optical power equally for each data stream.

Optical wireless mobile communications have the potential to provide wide bandwidth and security . We have proposed and designed the 2-dimensional tracking optical receiver systems for optical wireless mobile communication. The receiver system consist of 4${\times}$4 photodiode array can receive optical signal from the transmitter. The room size is 5${\times}$5m$^2$ and the room height is 3m.

This study is to develop power line communication and short-range wireless communication system using LED. I will create optical receiver and transmitter using LED and optical sensor and connectors for display device and communication in receiver and transmitter were created. Experiment method is to signal and waveform through oscilloscope date from optical sensor after chosen a highly efficient LED. In addition, reception and transmitter of smoothly data using visible light communication program were checked. I will compliment problems through this experiment and constantly study, improve on power loss.

GaAs on Si grown via metalorganic chemical vapor deposition is demonstrated using various Si substrate thicknesses and three types of dislocation filter layers (DFLs). The bowing was used to measure wafer-scale characteristics. The surface morphology and electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI) were used to analyze the material quality of GaAs films. Only 3-㎛ bowing was observed using the 725-㎛-thick Si substrate. The bowing shows similar levels among the samples with DFLs, indicating that the Si substrate thickness mostly determines the bowing. According to the surface morphology and ECCI results, the compressive strained indium gallium arsenide/GaAs DFLs show an atomically flat surface with a root mean square value of 1.288 nm and minimum threading dislocation density (TDD) value of 2.4×107 cm-2. For lattice-matched DFLs, the indium gallium phosphide/GaAs DFLs are more effective in reducing the TDD than aluminum gallium arsenide/GaAs DFLs. Finally, we found that the strained DFLs can block propagate TDD effectively. The strained DFLs on the 725-㎛-thick Si substrate can be used for the large-scale integration of GaAs on Si with less bowing and low TDD.

Optical wireless communication (OWC) systems are rapidly gaining popularity as effective means of transferring data at high rates over short distances. OWC facilitates rapidly deployable, lightweight, high-capacity communication without licensing fees and tariffs. Nevertheless, the performance of this new technology depends strongly on the atmospheric conditions and the characteristics of the link. In this work, we study the influence of these parameters on both the average (ergodic) capacity and the outage capacity of an OWC system over moderate to strong turbulence channels modeled by gamma-gamma distribution. Moreover, we compare the results that we obtain estimating the average and outage capacities.
Future electric lights will be composed of white LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Indoor wireless optical communication systems utilizing white LED lights have been studying about it. Generally, plural lights are installed in room. Therefore, their optical path difference must be considered. In this paper, the influence of an optical path difference has been investigated and two approaches against this problem are introduced. One uses OOK-RZ (On-Off Keying, Return-to-Zero) coding and the other uses optical OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing). From the results of computer simulations, we have found that these approaches are feasible for the wireless optical communication systems utilizing white LED lights.
