  • Wireless sensor networks are composed of a large number of sensor nodes with limited energy resources. One critical issue in wireless sensor networks is how to gather sensed information in an energy efficient way, since their energy is limited. The clustering algorithm is a technique used to reduce energy consumption. It can improve the scalability and lifetime of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we introduce a clustering protocol with mode selection (CPMS) for wireless sensor networks. Our scheme improves the performance of BCDCP (Base Station Controlled Dynamic Clustering Protocol) and BIDRP (Base Station Initiated Dynamic Routing Protocol) routing protocol. In CPMS, the base station constructs clusters and makes the head node with the highest residual energy send data to the base station. Furthermore, we can save the energy of head nodes by using the modes selection method. The simulation results show that CPMS achieves longer lifetime and more data message transmissions than current important clustering protocols in wireless sensor networks.

  • Wireless Mesh Network(WMN) is wireless backbone networks technique which has ease of network configuration and cost of advantage. Recently, WNM released a new product, but most of existing research and technology analysis the performance through the simulation. This paper build the wireless mesh network testbed for actual situation. Testbed supports multi-channel multi-interface using bridge, the Wireless Distribution System and dynamic location-based routing protocol. This routing protocol strongly design against wireless interference using metric for link channel change and real distance. Then, the address of mesh clients assigned by the centralized address management server. Mesh clients is designed and implemented to manage network through Simple Network Management Protocol.

  • Ad hoc network is a kind of new wireless network paradigm for mobile hosts. Ad Hoc wireless networks consist of wireless mobile hosts forming a temporary network without the aid of any established infrastructure or centralized administration. Mobile hosts rely on each other to keep the network connected. Each host is not only mobile hosts but also router. So how to design a routing protocol is the most important problem. Dynamic source routing is a kind of routing protocol. In this paper we suggest a new automatic route shortening method and an energy-aware routing mechanism based on DSR.

  • In recent years, wireless sensor networks have become an important part of data communications. Sensors provide information about the required measurements or control states over wireless networks. The energy efficient routing protocol of wireless sensor networks is the key issue for network lifetimes. The routing protocol must ensure that connectivity in a network is remained for a long period of time and the energy status of the sensor in the entire network must be in the same level in order not to leave the network with a wide difference in the energy consumptions of the sensors. In this paper we propose a new routing protocol based on AODV protocol that considers the energy efficiency when the protocol determines the routing paths, which is called AODV-EE. The proposed method prevents an imbalance of power consumption in sensors of wireless networks. From the simulation results it is shown that the proposed algorithm can be effectively used in collecting and monitoring data without concerning about the disconnection of the networks.

  • Although asymptotic bounds of wireless network capacity have been heavily pursued, the answers to the following questions are still critical for network planning, protocol and architecture design: Given a three-dimensional (3D) network space with the number of active users randomly located in the space and using the wireless communication technology, what are the expected per-flow throughput, network capacity, and network transport capacity? In addition, how can the protocol parameters be tuned to enhance network performance? In this paper, we focus on the ultra wideband (UWB) based wireless personal area networks (WPANs) and provide answers to these questions, considering the salient features of UWB communications, i.e., low transmission/interference power level, accurate ranging capability, etc. Specifically, we demonstrate how to explore the spatial multiplexing gain of UWB networks by allowing appropriate concurrent transmissions. Given 3D space and the number of active users, we derive the expected number of concurrent transmissions, network capacity and transport capacity of the UWB network. The results reveal the main factors affecting network (transport) capacity, and how to determine the best protocol parameters, e.g., exclusive region size, in order to maximize the capacity. Extensive simulation results are given to validate the analytical results.

  • Sensor Networks (WSNs) can be defined as a self-configured and infrastructure-less wireless networks to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants and to cooperatively pass their data through the network to a main location or base-station where the data can be observed and analyzed. Typically a wireless sensor network contains hundreds of thousands of sensor nodes. The sensor nodes can communicate among themselves using radio signals. A wireless sensor node is equipped with sensing and computing devices, radio transceivers and power components. The individual nodes in a wireless sensor network (WSN) are inherently resource constrained: they have limited processing speed, storage capacity, communication bandwidth and limited-battery power. At present time, most of the research on WSNs has concentrated on the design of energy- and computationally efficient algorithms and protocols In order to extend the network life-time, in this paper we are looking into a routing protocol, especially LEACH and LEACH-related protocol. LEACH protocol is a representative routing protocol and improves overall network energy efficiency by allowing all nodes to be selected to the cluster head evenly once in a periodic manner. In LEACH, in case of movement of sensor nodes, there is a problem that the data transmission success rate decreases. In order to overcome LEACH's nodes movements, LEACH-Mobile protocol had proposed. But energy consumption increased because it consumes more energy to recognize which nodes moves and re-transfer data. In this paper we propose the new routing protocol considering nodes' mobility. In order to simulate the proposed protocol, we make a scenario, nodes' movements randomly and compared with the LEACH-Mobile protocol.

  • We propose a novel authentication protocol for wireless mesh network. The proposed authentication protocol is based on the password scheme for convenience of users. The proposed protocol is evaluated through three analyses. The correctness of the proposed protocol is proved using the GNY analysis. By the security analysis, we show that the proposed protocol is resistant to various attacks. For the performance analysis, we implemented the protocol in Linux operating system based laptop and measured the transmission time. The analytic results show that the proposed protocol provides the secure wireless mesh network without considerable performance degradation.

  • By the progress of communication and hardware technology, It is possible to organize wireless sensor nodes using the tiny sensor in recently. It is a critical aspect to minimize energy consumption for long-term lively sensor because wireless sensor nodes are associated with the available resources. The wireless sensor network is restricted in communication, exhaustion of power, and computation but it is very similar an Ad-Hoc network. Each sensor node products a few data and application layer of each sensor has slow transmitting feature. Unlike Ad-hoc, which is usually source or sink, base station of the each senor nodes works as sink and the other nodes except sink node works as source. Generally, wireless sensor network keep staying fixed state and observing circumstances continuously after setting up. It doesnt fit for the wireless sensor networks under functioning of existing ad-hoc networks because original Ad-Hoc network routing protocol couldnt operate for wireless sensor network features. This thesis propose the effective routing protocol way in the filed of the expanded routing protocol based on tree with considering on the characteristic of wireless sensor networks pattern.

  • Appling centralized network management architecture SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) to wireless networks causes the network overhead, NAT(Network Address Translation) problem on AP, and performance degradation of mobile nodes. In this paper, we propose an integrated management scheme for wired and wireless networks using mobile agents in order to solve above problems. In our proposed scheme, SNMP is applied to manage wired networks and MAs of SNMP are implemented in APs or wireless nodes to manage wireless networks. In addition, we propose a method to reduce the redundant OID information within SNMP response messages. Through the analysis, we show that our proposal resolves the given problems and reduces the processing delay of the wireless nodes.

  • A wireless ad-hoc network is a temporal network formed by a collection of wireless mobile nodes without the aid of any existing network infrastnlcture or centralized administration. Currently, numerous routing protocols have been developed for changing messages between nodes in a wireless ad-hoc network. Applications of wireless ad-hoc network technology are various and proper routing protocol must be used according to application domain or network size. In a wireless ad-hoc network. some hosts want services from fixed networks. For supporting such services, it is necessary to interconnect wireless ad-hoc networks and fixed networks. The DSMIHDynamic Source Multipath Routing) protocol, proposed in this paper, focuses on supporting seamless communication services between the nodes within a wireless ad-hoc network and providing fixed networks to the mobile hosts in wireless an-hoc networks. In DSMR protocol, each node need not broadcast routing messages periodically. and mobile hosts that to send data packets initiate route request and route establishment procedure. By maintaining multiple paths in each node. faster route re-establishment is also possible in our scheme.
