  • 국내 고도성장기 이후 본격 건설되기 시작한 사회 기반 시설물은 노후화가 빠르게 진행되고 있다. 특히 사고 발생 시 대량 인명 피해로 직결될 수 있는 교량, 터널 등의 대형 구조물에 대한 안전성 평가가 필요하다. 하지만 기존의 유선 센서 기반의 Structural Health Monitoring(SHM)을 개선한 무선 스마트 센서 네트워크는 짧은 신호 도달거리로 인해 경제적이고 효율적인 시스템 구축이 힘들다. 따라서 LoRa LPWAN 시스템은 사물인터넷의 확산과 더불어 저전력 장거리 통신이 각광을 받고 있으며, 이를 구조 건전성 모니터링에 응용함으로써 경제적이면서도 효율적인 모니터링 시스템 구축이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 LoRa LPWAN 기반의 무선 계측센서 기술동향을 조사하였으며, LoRa LPWAN 기반의 무선 계측센서 설치 및 유지관리 방안을 제안한다.

Wireless sensor network protocol comparison for bridge health assessment

  • In this paper two protocols of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are examined through both a simulation and a case study. The simulation was performed with the optimized network (OPNET) simulator while comparing the performance of the Ad-Hoc on demand Distance Vector (AODV) and the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocols. This is compared and shown with real-world measurement of deflection from eight wireless sensor nodes. The wireless sensor response results were compared with accelerometer sensors for validation purposes. It was found that although the computer simulation suggests the AODV protocol is more accurate, in the case study no distinct difference was found. However, it was shown that AODV is still more beneficial in the field as it has a longer battery life enabling longer surveying times. This is a significant finding as a large factor in determining the use of wireless network sensors as a method of assessing structural response has been their short battery life. Thus if protocols which enhance battery life, such as the AODV protocol, are employed it may be possible in the future to couple wireless networks with solar power extending their monitoring periods.

  • Wireless LAN is getting more popularity and plays a main role in electronic and telecommunication field. Wireless LAN is more convenient than wired LAN when mobility is required, and are sometimes the only feasible choice. Wireless LAN can also pose a significant security risk when not properly installed and maintained. Thus, this paper studies real-time message transmission using existing mobile telecommunication network and describes considerations and procedures when introducing wireless LAN concept and wireless LAN systems. It also studies integrated wired and wireless networking including wireless LAN bridge and AP technology of International Organization for Standardization, and especially real-time dynamic image data transmission in a moving train.

A NoSQL data management infrastructure for bridge monitoring

  • Advances in sensor technologies have led to the instrumentation of sensor networks for bridge monitoring and management. For a dense sensor network, enormous amount of sensor data are collected. The data need to be managed, processed, and interpreted. Data management issues are of prime importance for a bridge management system. This paper describes a data management infrastructure for bridge monitoring applications. Specifically, NoSQL database systems such as MongoDB and Apache Cassandra are employed to handle time-series data as well the unstructured bridge information model data. Standard XML-based modeling languages such as OpenBrIM and SensorML are adopted to manage semantically meaningful data and to support interoperability. Data interoperability and integration among different components of a bridge monitoring system that includes on-site computers, a central server, local computing platforms, and mobile devices are illustrated. The data management framework is demonstrated using the data collected from the wireless sensor network installed on the Telegraph Road Bridge, Monroe, MI.

  • Recently, the application area of wireless LAN(Internet) and CDMA have been increased, rapidly. Bridge monitoring system using this ubiquitous Computing Technology can bring more convenience of bridge maintenance and management. This paper present a automatic data acquisition, control and processing technology through this concept, and check system applicability to the concrete bridge completed. Finally, The preventive bridge monitoring through the application of this system will progress in technology and make civil infrastructure more safe and useful.

On the Formulation and Optimal Solution of the Rate Control Problem in Wireless Mesh Networks

  • An algorithm is proposed to seek a local optimal solution of the network utility maximization problem in a wireless mesh network, where the architecture being considered is an infrastructure/backbone wireless mesh network. The objective is to achieve proportional fairness amongst the end-to-end flows in wireless mesh networks. In order to establish the communication constraints of the flow rates in the network utility maximization problem, we have presented necessary and sufficient conditions for the achievability of the flow rates. Since wireless mesh networks are generally considered as a type of ad hoc networks, similarly as in wireless multi-hop network, the network utility maximization problem in wireless mesh network is a nonlinear nonconvex programming problem. Besides, the gateway/bridge functionalities in mesh routers enable the integration of wireless mesh networks with various existing wireless networks. Thus, the rate optimization problem in wireless mesh networks is more complex than in wireless multi-hop networks.

  • 최근 들어 hot spot 서비스를 비롯한 무선랜의 활용이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 전에는 주로 옥내에서 유선랜 대용으로 사용이 국한되었지만, 무선랜의 데이터 전송속도와 성능이 크게 향상되어 옥내에서의 mobile computing 용도뿐만 아니라 옥외에서 인터넷 접속용이나 무선 브리지용으로도 그 사용이 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 고속이동환경에서의 무선랜의 데이터 전송속도를 측정하여 ITS(Intelligent Transport System)나 Telematics, LBS(Location Based System) 등의 응용 분야에서 그 사용 가능성을 검증하였다.

  • Recently the application area of wireless LAN has been increased, rapidly. The application area was limited in indoor, but as the data throughput and performance of wireless LAN becomes better the application is to extend to the Internet connection and wireless bridge in outdoor. In this paper, the data throughput of wireless LAN in mobile environment is measured, and the usability of wireless LAN for Train, Telematics, and LBS is confirmed.

  • 무선 메쉬 네트워크는 기존 무선랜에 비해 낮은 구축비용으로 네트워크 구성이 용이한 무선 백본 네트워크 기술이다. 대부분의 기존 무선 메쉬 관련 연구는 실제 구현 보다는 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 평가하였다. 구현 연구들도 존재하지만 링크 구성 유연성이나 다중 채널 등 링크 특성 활용 등의 측면에서 한계가 있다. 그 결과 무선 메쉬의 장점인 망 구성 유연성이 떨어지고 다중 홉 상황에서 성능이 악화되는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문은 동적 링크 구성을 지원하며 다중 채널 등을 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 리눅스 기반의 링크 계층 무선 메쉬 라우팅 시스템인 WBMR의 설계 및 구현에 관해 소개한다. 우리는 동적 링크 구성을 위해 무선랜 동작 모드의 하나인 WDS를, 링크 계층 라우팅을 위해 기존 리눅스 브릿지 모듈을 활용하고 변경하는 접근을 택했다. 실험을 통한 성능 평가 결과 WBMR은 빠르고 자율적인 망 구성을 지원하며 링크 특성 반영이 어려운 기존 접근법에 비해 다중 홉 환경에서 데이터 전송률을 크게 향상 시켰다.

  • In 1990, Korea building contractors were indifferent maintenance management cause focus on completion of construction before construction collapsed. Currently, structures monitoring systems are restrictive on large structures. Structures monitoring systems are limited many old and small structures in the whole nation. Recently, we make efforts application Ubiquitous technology as like sensor, sensor network system, and wireless communication system in construction. This paper applies bridge management system using Ubiquitous skill which is real-time monitoring report offering system.
