A Proposal on Multi-transmission Mechanism of the Heterogeneous Network Environment for SMART Screen Services (스마트스크린 서비스를 위한 이기종네트워크 환경의 멀티전송 기술 제안)

  • In this paper, the authors propose a multi-transmission mechanism of heterogeneous network environment which is applicable to the SMART screen services over wire and wireless convergence network. This paper presents study results including a SMART screen handover algorithm among multiple collaborative devices under wire and wireless convergence and heterogeneous network environment, and a service operation and management system and a NAS system providing SMART services of AV streaming and contents files. These validate implementation feasibility of a call processing engine for seamless SMART screen collaborative services, AV streaming services and SMART screen collaborative services supporting mobility management and multiple users/multiple streams.

Improvement of absorption characteristics by insert devices in a vertical tube (수직관내 삽입기구에 의한 흡수특성의 향상)

  • In the present study, the improvement of absorption characteristics by installing insert devices, such as spring and wire screen, inside the vertical tube absorber were studied experimentally. Momentum, heat and mass transfer rate in the absolution process of smooth bare tube, smooth tube with spring-insert, and with wire screen-insert were compared and analysed in range of film Reynolds number of 40∼200. The improvement of heat transfer rate by spring-insert and screen-insert were remarkable especially in the low Reynolds number region. As the mesh number increased in screen-insert and as the pitch decreased in spring-insert, Nusselt and Sherwood number increased. Degradation of mass transfer by non-absorbable gas showed similar qualitative trends regardless of the insert type.

  • Mean flows and Reynolds stresses through circular and elliptic wire-mesh screens in the wind tunnel are measured by using the hot-wire system, and flow structures are investigated. Flow in the core of the wake are nearly uniform and the shear layer is developed along the edge of the screen The turbulent kinetic energy in the core decreases at the fast rate. However turbulence components are not in local equilibrium in the shear layer. The shear layer of the circular screen develops outward according to the radial mean motion. On the other hand, 3-dimensional transverse mean motion was turned to the main mechanism for the elliptic shape of the wake to be circular at the downstream.

Reduction Characteristics of Electromagnetic Penetration through Narrow Slots in Conducting Screen

  • This paper presents the reduction characteristics of penetrated electromagnetic fields through a narrow slot in a planar conducting screen of infinite extent. When a plane wave is excited to the narrow slot, the aperture electric field is controlled by the parallel wire or parallel plate connected on the slot. The magnitude of penetrated electromagnetic fields through a narrow slot is controlled by electric field distributions on the slot. An integral equation for the aperture electric field on narrow slots is derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments. The results show that the magnitude of the penetrated electromagnetic field can be effectively reduced by installing the parallel wire or parallel plate on the slot.

Experimental Study on the Working Characteristic of Aluminum Grooved Heat Pipe and Thermosyphon with Inner Arterial Wick (내부 아터리가 있는 알루미늄 그루브 히트파이프와 써모사이펀의 작동특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The experimental study for performance improvement of aluminum/freon22 grooved heat pipe was carried out. Arterial wick was used for performance improvement of heat pipe. The experimental result was compared with screen covered grooved wick heat pipe. And also, performance test of grooved wick thermosyphon inserted straight wire in the center of grooved pipe was carried out. This result was compared with the performance test result of grooved wick thermosyphon. The operation limit of artery inserted grooved heat pipe was slightly extended, but thermal resistance of this heat pipe was twice as large as that of screen covered grooved heat pipe. In case of thermosyphon, the operation limit of grooved thermosyphon inserted straight wire in the center of grooved pipe was slightly extended, but thermal resistance was increased, comparing with that of the grooved thermosyphon.

Analysis of Woven Wire Wick Structure for a Miniature Heat Pipe (소형 히트파이프용 편조 윅의 형상 해석)

  • Woven wire wick is very effective structure because of its easiness to insert inside of pipe for a miniature heat pipe. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of the effective flow passage with respect to wire helix angle. Also effective thermal conductivity were examined by defining mean porosity considering effective liquid flow passages. Effective heat transfer area is varied with respect to wire helix angle, and in the range of $\thet=60~65^{\circ}C$, heat transfer area is decreased about 15~20%. Permeability of woven wire wick shows similar value of 200 mesh screen wick. And comparison of experimental results on effective thermal conductivity shows a fairly good agreement with the analytical results.

  • The study on design criteria of solid-liquid separator for dairy farms was done by testing various screens, presses, and RPMs of screw auger with remodeled screw-press type pig-manure separator. The moisture content of separated solid increase from 68.3% to 74.2% as auger rotating speed increased from 9.8 to 29.2 RPM at 34.8 kPa of pressure and 1.0 mm of slit wedge wire screen condition. The moisture contents of separated solid were 72~77%, work efficiencies were 16~18 kg/min at 1.0 mm of slit wedge wire screen. The efficiency was higher than one at 0.5 mm of slit wedge wire screen, which was used to separate for pig manure. The best work efficiency was 18 kg/min at 42.5 kPa, 1.0 mm slit screen. The separated solid moisture content was 75% at this condition.

  • This experiment was carried out to improve the physical and mechanical properties of sawdust-board by combining with reinforce material, that is, plastic wire screen and steel wire screen. In experiment results, the density of sawdust-board reinforced with three steel wire screens was highest and its bending strength was also highest. Wastepaper-5% mixed sawdust-board showed as high bending strength as other boards, and therefore the possibility of using wastepaper as raw materials for boards. The sawdust-board with steel wire screen was not ruptured immediatedly after having been deformed by static loading. However, plywood showed higher bending strength than the reinforced sawdust-boards.

  • A Helmholtz resonator is one of noise control elements widely used in many practical applications. The resonator has very high absorption at resonance frequency but the frequency bandwidth is very small. Therefore many kinds of additional resistive screens have been applied to the resonator's neck in order to increase the bandwidth. This paper discusses the absorptive characteristics of a Helmholtz resonator damped by a flexible porous screen in form of wire mesh. First, various experimental results are introduced and studied. Secondly, the effect of the resistive screen is theoretically predicted. It is shown that the distance between the screen and aperture affects on the resonance frequency as well as the absorption of the system.

  • Solar air heaters (SAHs) are simple in design and widely used for solar energy collection devices, and a packed bed is one of typical solar energy storage systems of thermal energy captured by SAHs. This paper presents mathematical modeling and simulation on the thermal performance of various packed bed energy storage systems. A MATLAB program is used to estimate the thermal efficiency of packed bed SAH. Among the various packed bed energy storage systems considered, the wire mesh screen packed bed SAH shows the best thermal efficiency over the entire range of design conditions. The maximum of thermal efficiency of packed bed SAH with wire mesh screen matrices has been found to be 0.794 for Re=2000 - 20000 and ${\Delta}T/I=0.002-0.02$.
