Numerical simulations of the storm surge and waves induced by the Typhoon Maemi incident on the south sea of Korea in 2003 are performed using the JMA-MSM forecast weather field, NCEP-CFSR reanalysis weather field, ECMWF-ERA5 reanalysis weather field, and the pressure and wind fields obtained using the best track information provided by JTWC. The calculated surge heights are compared with the time history observed at harbours along the coasts of Korea. For the waves occurring coincidentally with the storm surges the calculated significant wave heights are compared with the measured data. Based on the comparison of surge and wave heights the assessment of the reliability of various weather fields is performed. As a result the JMA-MSM weather fields gives the highest reliability, and the weather field obtained using JTWC best track information gives also relatively good agreement. The ECMWF-ERA5 gives in general surge and wave heights weaker than the measured. The reliability of NCEP-CFSR turns out to be the worst for this special case of Typhoon Maemi. Based on the results of this study it is found that the reliable weather fields are essential for the accurate simulation of storm surges and waves.

Nephila clavata, a golden orb-web spider, was studied at two different field sites with respect to web size, height, and orientation. A majority of spiders at Site 1 (a band of shrub bush) built their webs parallel or nearly parallel to the edge of the bush. Similarly, at Site 2 (near a pond), most webs were aligned with the shoreline of the pond. Among the possible determining factors for the observed patterns of web orientation, wind and light did not appear important. Instead, the movement direction of insect prey appeared largely responsible. Disproportionately more webs faced outside the bush and toward the pond than inside the bush and away from the pond at Site 1 and 2, respectively. Such trend was more apparent for larger spiders with larger webs.

In the present paper, numerical simulations of buoyant plume dispersion in a neutral and stable atmospheric boundary layer have been carride out. A Lagrangian Stochastic Model (LSM) with a Non-Linear Eddy Viscosity Model (NLEVM) for turbulence is used to generate a Reynolds stress field as an input condition of dispersion simulation. A modified plume-rise equation is included in dispersion simulation in order to consider momentum effect in an initial stage of plume rise resulting in an improved prediction by comparing with the experimental data. The LSM is validated by comparing with the prediction of an Eulerian Dispersion Model (EDM) and by the measured results of vertical profiles of mean concentration in the downstream of an elevated source in an atmospheric boundary layer. The LSM predicts accurate results especially in the vicinity of the source where the EDM underestimates the peak concentration by 40% due to inherent limitations of gradient diffusion theory. As a verification study, the LSM simulation of buoyant plume dispersions under a neutral and stable atmospheric condition is compared with a wind-tunnel experiment, which shows good qualitative agreements.
New renewable energy information becomes one of the greatest issues all over the world because of serious environment problems and limited fossil resources. The new renewable energy source information system is treated seriously for efficient management and distribution as dealing with these energy problems. However, it is difficult to manage and utilize new renewable energy information because gathering and surveying information is progressed individually in each research field. Therefore this paper will establish ISP(Information Strategy Planning) and propose the basic management system based-on GIS to analyze new renewable energy such as solar energy, wind power, small hydro, biomass, geothermal etc. and build the integration management system. The proposed integration management system can provide spatial analysis using thematic map, data search, data import/export and interpolation about users' queries.

Gunsan-Janghang Harbor is located at the mouth of Gum River, on the central west coast of Korea The harbor and coastal boundaries are protected from the effects of the open ocean by natural coastal islands and shoals due to depositions from the river, and two breakwaters. The navigation channel commences at the gap formed by the outer breakwater and extends through a bay via a long channel formed by an isolated jetty. For better understanding and analysis of wave transformation process where a wide coastline changes appear due to on-going reclamation works, we applied the spectral wave model including wind effect to the related site, together with the energy balance models. This paper summarizes comparisons of coastal responses predicted by several numerical wave predictions obtained at the coastal waters near Gunsan-Janghang Harbor. Field and numerical model investigations were initially conducted for the original navigation channel management project. We hope to contribute from this study that coastal engineers are able to use safety the numerical models in the area of port and navigational channel design.
In this study, we determine coronal electron density distributions by analyzing DH type II radio observations based on the assumption: a DH type II radio burst is generated by the shock formed at a CME leading edge. For this, we consider 11 Wind/WAVES DH type II radio bursts (from 2000 to 2003 and from 2010 to 2012) associated with SOHO/LASCO limb CMEs using the following criteria: (1) the fundamental and second harmonic emission lanes are well identified; (2) its associated CME is clearly identified in the LASCO-C2 or C3 field of view at the time of type II observation. For these events, we determine the lowest frequencies of their fundamental emission lanes and the heights of their leading edges. Coronal electron density distributions are obtained by minimizing the root mean square error between the observed heights of CME leading edges and the heights of DH type II radio bursts from assumed electron density distributions. We find that the estimated coronal electron density distribution ranges from 2.5 to 10.2-fold Saito's coronal electron density models.

The autopilot system targets decreasing labor, working environment improvement, service safety security and elevation of service efficiency. Ultimate purpose is minimizing number of crew for guarantee economical efficiency of shipping service. Recently, being achieving research about Course Keeping Control, Track Keeping Control, Roll-Rudder Stabilization. Dynamic Ship Positioning and Automatic Mooring Control etc. which compensate nonlinear characteristic using optimizing control technique. And application research is progressing using real ship on actual field. Relation of Rudder angle which adjusted by Steering Machine and ship-heading angle are non-linear. And Load Condition of ship as non-linear element that influence to Parameter of ship. Also, because the speed of a current and direction of waves, velocity and quantity of wind etc. that is disturbance act in non-linear from, become factor who make serv ice of shipping painfully. Therefore, service system of shipping requires robust control algorithm that can overcome nonlinearity. In this paper, Using fuzzy algorithm ,Design autopilot system of ship that could overcome the non-linear factor of ship and disturbance and examined result through simulation.

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) field is mainly studied to monitor and characterize large-scale physical environments to track various environmental or physical conditions, such as temperature, pressure, wind speed and humidity. WSN can be used in various applications such as wild surveillance, military target tracking and monitoring, dangerous environmental exploration and natural disaster relief. We design probabilistic mobile models that apply to mobile ad hoc network mobile environments. A probabilistic shift model proposed by dividing the number of moving nodes and the distance of travel into two categories to express node movement characteristics. The proposed model of movement through simulation was compared with the existing random movement model, ensuring that the width and variation rate of the first node node node node (FND) was stable regardless of the node movement rate. In addition, when the proposed mobile model is applied to the routing protocol, the superiority of network life can be verified from measured FND values. We overcame the limitations of the existing random movement model, showing excellent characteristics in terms of energy efficiency and stable in terms of changes in node movement.

A continuous type side jet controller which has four nozzles with thrust control devices was considered. It is deployed to a missile for high maneuverability and fast controllability in the terminal guidance phase. However, it causes more complex aerodynamic jet interactions between the side jet and the supersonic free stream than does the conventional impulse type side jet with a small single thruster. In this paper, a numerical investigation of the jet interference effects for the missile equipped with a continuous type side jet thruster is presented. A three-dimensional flow field was simulated by using a commercial unstructured-based CFD solver. The numerical simulation method was validated through comparison with wind tunnel test results for the single jet. The method of defining jet direction for this type of side jet control to minimize simulation cases was also introduced. Flow fields investigation and jet interaction effects for various flow conditions, jet pressure ratios and defined jet direction conditions were performed. From the numerical simulation for the continuous type side jet, extensive aerodynamic interference data were obtained to construct an aerodynamic coefficients database for precise missile control.
