  • This study was conducted to investigate the status of the installation, maintenance and management of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in all mandatory institutions and buildings of the providence to be equipped with AEDs. The study was conducted from November 20, 2017 to December 20, 2017, during which time 169 AED units were surveyed. The collected data was analyzed by frequency analysis and the percentage was determined using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. A total of 168 units (99.41%) of AEDs were installed inside. Additionally, 47 units (27.80%) were available 24 hours a day, and 44 units (26.00%) were available outside business hours of the institution. Moreover, 87 units (51.43%) of the responsible managers received rescue and first aid training. Evaluation of the management status of the AEDs revealed two (1.20%) that had problems with their battery state of charge battery charge and seven (4.10%) for which the AED pads were past the expiration date. A management system for the manager of AEDs should be established and a regular training program for their systematic maintenance should be developed and applied. It is also suggested that awareness of the necessity of continuous management be raised through reinforcement of laws and legal system reorganization.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate major selection motivation, major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and career preparation behavior as well as identify influencing factors on the career preparation behavior of nursing students. The data were collected using questionnaires filled out by 208 nursing students in their junior and senior years at two universities in Jeollanam-do and Gyenggi-do, from November 1, 2018 to December 20, 2018. Data ware analyzed by using the SPSS Win 22.0 program (frequency, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis). The mean score of career preparation behavior was 2.74±0.70 (range:1-5). There was a significant positive correlation between major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and career preparation behavior. For the multiple regression analysis, meaningful variables that significantly influenced career preparation behavior were nursing professionalism and general characteristics (grade, career preparation period). These factors explained 21.5% of the variance. Improvement of the above meaningful variables allowed better career preparation behavior. The results show that among students with weak meaningful variables, improvement of the above meaningful variables can improve job preparing behavior. In order to improve career preparation behavior, a career preparation program should be developed that reflects meaningful variables.

  • Purpose: This study determined the intention of obtaining long-term work by graduate nursing students. Methods: The subjects were 116 students in the fourth year of the nursing department located in G city of G province and G city of J province. A structured questionnaire was used from November 1, 2018 to November 27, 2018 for data collection. The SPSS/WIN 21.0 program was used for the collected data and the data was analyzed by t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Result: The major factors influencing the intention to work were satisfaction with their academic major (β=.54, p<.001), and the career after employment in a hospital) (β=.28, p<.001). The explanatory power was 46.5% (F=51.00, p<.001). Conclusion: To increase the satisfaction of studying nursing, it is necessary to apply various educational programs to positively recognize the nursing profession and a nurse's image and increase optimism and social efficacy. There is a need to develop a tool to measure the intention of obtaining long-term nursing jobs for nursing students in hospitals. This study suggested a way to increase the intention of obtaining long-term work by improving the degree of satisfaction with nursing profession.

As the answer of a question about whether or not toothbrushing after every meal at ordinary times, the largest was 47.5% of being average. The occasion of toothbrushing before going to bed at ordinary times was the largest with 47.5%. The daily toothbrushing frequency was 3 times mostly and the general toothbrushing method at ordinary times was a rolling method. The frequency of exchanging toothbrushes for the past 1 year was 3 times, which is the largest with 45.0%. 2. As a result of the actual condition of using oral care products, the majority of students don't use electric toothbrush, interdental brush, or mouth-rinse except dental floss. • A self-administered survey was conducted on dental hygiene students at colleges or universities in Chungcheong Province to increase the levels of practice for them and provide basic data that could improve their major satisfaction after practice. The data was collected from December 2012 to April 2013 and 766 questionnaires, except for 13 containing insincere responses, were finally analyzed using SPSS/Win18.0. The on- and off-campus practice groups formed 59.7% and 57.4%, respectively. The most frequent place for practice was university dental hospitals, followed in order by hospitals/clinics and health centers. University students were more satisfied with on-campus practice in terms of factors, such as practice contents, practice time, and practice performance than those at three-year colleges. The students in the higher grades were more satisfied with the practice time. The university students were also more satisfied with off-campus practice in terms of all the factors than those at three-year colleges. The students in higher grades were more satisfied with the practice time and practice performance. The on- or off-campus practice group was generally more satisfied with their major than the non-practice group, and each of the factors-practice performance, practice time, practice environment, and practice contents-significantly affected the major satisfaction. The results highlight the need to plan and provide satisfactory education based on an understanding and awareness of students so that they can take pride in their major through on- and off-campus practice. In addition, it is also necessary to develop educational guidelines for clinical practice and efficient programs so that clinical practice can create the optimal learning situation.

  • This is a descriptive study to determine the influence of character strength of nursing students on perceived stress. Data were collected from 174 nursing students in the A- area and analyzed using SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The character strength of nursing studentswas $3.46{\pm}.34$(on a 5-point scale) and perceived stress was $2.84{\pm}.42$(on a 5-point scale). Among the subdomains of character strengths, humanity was the highest, with a score of $3.65{\pm}.49$. The perceived stress of nursing students showed a negative correlation with character strength(r=-.50, p<.001) and was negatively correlated with all subdomains of character strength. In addition, the factor that most affected the perceived stress of nursing students-among general characteristics-was very difficult family experience (${\beta}=.146$, p=.026), and the factors with the greatest effect among the subdomains of character strengths were courage(${\beta}=-.250$, p=.006) and transcendence(${\beta}=-.275$, p=.013). These three factors were found to explain 39.5% of variance in perceived stress. Therefore, these results demonstrate the need to explore interventions that enable nursing school faculty and counseling staff to help confirm character strengths and reduce stress in students with hard time getting adjusted to nursing school.
