경상남도 농경지에서 멧돼지에 의한 피해 경향 분석 (An Analysis on Aspects of Farm Lands Damaged by the Wild Boar (Sus scrofa) in Gyeongnam Province, Korea)

  • Wild boars are one of the major wild life animals of which the number has increased a lot because there has been any predator and/or competitor in the Korean ecosystem. The increase of their number was a cause damaging crops in farm lands during the growing season in South Korea. This study was done to recognize the spatial pattern of farm lands damaged by wild boars. Totally 2,342 farms were known damaged by wild boars in 2012, and used to statistically analyze the perspectives of the farm land damages by wild boars in ArcMap v. 9.3. Damages by wild boars frequently happened in the western part of Gyeongnam Province including Jinju city, Tongyoung city and Namhae county. Most farm lands damaged were located nearby large mountains in this area. It might cause the number of wild boars increased in this area, which could finally stimulate the increase of farm land damaged by the species. Farm land damages by wild boars were also coincident with the preference of wild boars on their food. They preferred crops (e.g., sweet potato and corn) in uplands and rice paddies and orchards. The reason of their preference on rice, upland crops and fruits was related to the efficiency of their getting much more energy in a unit area. Another reason for the species to come into a rice paddy would be that they enjoy mud bath in there for scraping off parasites such as ticks and lice. Wild boars were seemed much overcrowded during the period from July to October when most of crops and fruits get ripen. About three-quarters of total farm land damages happened in this period. This analysis also said that 1,915 fields (81.8% of total targets) appeared within the 100-meter buffer from boundaries of mountain areas. This meant that wild boars were more sensitive to the anthropogenic land uses than we expected. They seemed to conservatively try their feeding activities in farm lands with paying attention to the human activity.

Genetic Variation and Differences within and between Populations of Cultured and Wild Bullhead (Pseudobagrus fulvidraco) Revealed by RAPD-PCR

  • We used nine decamer primers to generate DNA fragment sizes ranging from 100 bp to 1,600 bp from two bullhead (Pseudobagrus fulvidraco) populations of Dangjin in Korea. 376 fragments were identified in the cultured bullhead population, and 454 in the population of wild bullhead from Dangjin: 287 specific fragments $(76.3\%)$ in the cultured bullhead population and 207 $(45.6\%)$ in the wild bullhead population. On average, a decamer primer was used to generate 34.2 amplified products in a cultured bullhead. A RAPD primer was used to generate an average of 3.1 amplified bands per sample, ranging between 2.5 and 6.0 fragments in this population. Nine primers also generated 24 polymorphic fragments (24/376 fragment, $6.4\%$) in the cultured bullhead population, and 24 (24/454 fragments, $5.2\%$) in the wild bullhead population. The OPA-16 primer, notably, produced which 11 out of 11 bands $(100\%)$ were monomorphic in the wild bullhead population. 110 intra-population-specific fragments, with an average of 12.2 per primer, were observed in the cultured bullhead population. 99 fragments, with an average of 11.0 per primer, were identified in the wild bullhead. Especially, 55 inter-population-common fragments, with an average of 6.1 per primer, were observed in the two bullhead populations. The bandsharing value (BS value) of individuals within the wild bullhead population was substantially higher than was determined in the cultured bullhead population. The average bandsharing value was $0.596\pm0.010$ within the cultured bullhead population,. and $0.657\pm0.010$ within the wild bullhead population. The dendrogram obtained with the nine primers indicates two genetic clusters, designated cluster $1\;(CULTURED\;01\~CULTURED\;11)$, and cluster $2\;(WILD\;12\~WILD\;22)$. Ultimately, the longest genetic distance displaying significant molecular differences was determined to exist between individuals in the two bullhead populations, namely between individuals WILD no. 19 of the wild bullhead population and CULTURED no. 03 of the cultured bullhead population (genetic distance = 0.714). RAPD-PCR allowed us to detect the existence of population discrimination and genetic variation in Korean population of bullhead. This finding indicates that this method constitutes a suitable tool for DNA comparison, both within and between individuals, populations, species, and genera.

산야초 발효액의 항산화 활성 (Antioxidant Activity of Fermented Wild Grass Extracts)

  • 본 연구에서는 산야초 발효액의 품질특성 및 항산화 효과를 평가하였다. 산야초 발효액의 수분함량은 $49.6{\pm}0.06%$이었으며, 조회분 $0.65{\pm}0.01%$, 조지방 $3.3{\pm}0.59%$, 조단백질 $0.65{\pm}0.04%$이었다. 그리고 산야초 발효액의 총 페놀함량 분석 결과, $1,185{\pm}159{\mu}g$ GAE/g으로 나타났다. 색도 분석에서 L값은 80.36으로 나타났으며, a값과 b값은 각각 11.47 및 44.53으로 측정되었다. 다양한 항산화 평가 모델(DPPH, FRAP, 환원력, ABTS)을 통하여 산야초 발효액의 항산화 활성을 측정한 결과, 산야초 발효액의 농도가 증가함에 따라 항산화능이 유의적으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 산야초 발효액은 지방세포에 대한 세포독성을 나타내지 않은 반면, 지방세포 분화에 대한 억제 효능은 미비하게 나타났다. 따라서 산야초의 발효액을 제조시 기능성 향상을 위한 발효공정의 개선 및 최적화 등의 추후 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다.

  • 산삼이라는 약초가 자생하는 나라가 흔하지 않은 만큼 산삼을 채취하는 직업의 문화인 심메마니(산삼채취인) 문화를 가지고 있는 나라는 아주 드물다. 정통어인마니가 사라진 작금에는 심메마니에 관한 유무형의 문화는 시간의 흐름과 함께 더욱 소실되고 있다. 지금까지의 산삼채취인에 관한 연구는 ① 심메마니 은어에 관한 연구, ② 심메마니 습속에 관한 연구, ③ 심메마니 습속 변화에 관한 연구, ④ 심메마니와의 면담을 통한 추가적 채록 등의 부분적이고 단편적으로 진행되어 왔으며 심메마니 문화에 관한 총체적 연구는 아직 이루어지지 않았다. 이 연구에서는 앞선 연구에서 미반영한 사료를 보완하며, 산삼의 정의부터 산삼의 분류·심메마니의 어원·채삼 업종·심마니의 분포·법사회적 관점에서의 산삼채취·입산 시기·입산 조직·입산 택일·준비물·금기·출발과 입산·사신제의·도사(禱詞)·해몽·산삼 수색·산삼 발견과 그에 따른 일련의 절차·산삼 채굴·하산·배분·산삼채취량과 그 가격까지 심마니 습속의 행위별 비교와 어인의 제문(祭文), 사료의 사진, 삽화까지 첨부하면서 인삼 종주국의 산삼채취문화의 총괄적으로 연구하였다.

자연산 어류와 양식산 어류 간의 가격 경합성 분석 (Analyzing Price Interactions between Wild Caught Fish and Farmed Fish on the Korean Seafood Market)

  • This study is aimed to estimate price interactions between wild caught fish and farmed fish on the Korean seafood market, using multivariate cointegration analysis. Major commercially important four wild caught fish (chub mackerel, hairtail, yellow croaker and spanish mackerel) and two farmed fish(oliver flounder and black rockfish) are selected as analytical target fish species. Between 2000 and 2013, monthly production and price data are used in this study. The results of cointegration test showed that there would be a long-term equilibrium relationship among 4 wild caught fish and 2 farmed fish. However, the results of exclusion test indicated that farmed fish might not contribute significantly to the long-run relationship, suggesting that farmed fish might be only a weak substitute for wild caught fish, but no significant interaction could be found.

산양산삼 추출물이 지방세포의 분화에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Cultivated Wild Ginseng Extract on Preadipocyte Proliferation)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of cultivated wild ginseng extract on primary cultured preadipocyte and adipocytes. Methods Diminish preadipocyte proliferation does primary role to reduce obesity. So, preadipocytes and adipocytes were performed on cell cultures with using Sprague-Dawley rats and treated with 0.01-1mg/ml cultivated wild ginseng extract. Result At all concentrations, cultivated wild ginseng extract wasn't show the suppress proliferation of preadipocytes significantly and failed to show effects on decomposition of adipocytes except high dosage. Conclusion Based on these findings, cultivated wild ginseng is not a suitable choice for the treatment of localized obesity.

Comparative lectin binding patterns of Cochlodinium polykrikoides Margalef

  • Four different FITC-conjugated lectins were used to visually evaluate lectin binding activity by optical staining quality using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) of Cochzodinium polykrikoides in nature (wild type) and culture (cultured type). Cells from the field and cultures treated with ConA fluoresced only at the outer cell wall, and the abundance and distribution of the fluorescent signal were similar. Treatment with PWM and HPA did not elicit fluorescence at the cell surface, but the wild type exposed to HPA showed greater binding than did the cultured cells, possibly due to greater concentrations of glucosamine. The wild type cells treated with LBL lectin showed a strong green fluorescence on the cell surface, whereas cultured cells did not. Signal intensity and abundance were greater than for any other lectins tested in this study. These results suggest that wild type and cultured type are significantly different based on surface sugar production. In particular, the wild type cells apear richer in galactosamine-like moieties. Neither glucose nor mannose-like moieties were present in either wild types or cultured cells.

Surface Reflectance Related with Color Characteristics for Pig × Wild Boar Meat

  • Color characteristics of pig ${\times}$ wild boar meat were determined with a fiber-optic spectrophotometer. The spectrophotometric characteristic of reduced-myoglobin observed after cutting immediately changed to the spectrophotometric characteristic of oxymyoglobin after 15 minutes of cutting. The spectrophotometry at 400 to 700 nm after 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of cutting changed slightly. Compared with M. longissimus thoracis, M. rhomboideus had higher reflectance around 400 nm and from 650 to 1,100 nm and M. spinalis was lower in the visible light region after 60 minutes of cutting. The pig ${\times}$ wild boar meat was similar in reflectance shape with pork but was lower in intensity. The differences depended on the anatomical location. The M. rhomboideus from pig ${\times}$ wild boar had greatly lower reflectance than that from pig, the M. longissimus thoracis reflectance was lower, but M. spinalis reflectance hardly differed. These results showed that pig ${\times}$ wild boar meat had no special characteristic of blooming but had distinguishing characteristic of meat color among anatomical locations.

Genetic Similarity and Variation in the Cultivated and Wild Carassius carassius Estimated with Random Amplified Polymorphic DNAs

  • RAPD analysis based on numerous markers have been used to investigate patterns of genetic differentiation ann and within two cultured and wild populations represented by the species crucian carp(Carassius carassius). From RAPD analysis using five primers, a total of 442 polymorphic bands were obtained in two populations and 273 were found to be specific to a wild population. According to RAPD-based estimates, average number of polymorphic bands in wild population was approximately 1.5 times as diverse as that in cultured. The average level of bandsharing values was $0.40 \pm 0.05$ in wild population, but was $0.69 \pm 0.08$ in cultured population, With reference to bandsharing values and banding patterns, wild population was considerably more diverse than cultured population. Knowledge of the genetic diversity of crucian carp should help in formulating more effective strategies for managing this aquacultural fish species.

각종 야생대두의 생육습성과 단백질함량 (Growth Habit and Protien Content of Various Wild Soybean Strains)

  • Wild soybean plants(Glycine ussuriensis) collected from Korea(47 strains) and abroad(41 strains) were grown under field condition and classified according to the growth habit. Seeds were analyzed for protein content. The results were as follows: 1. Wild soybean plants were classified into three groups each by seed size, growth habit of stem, leaf size and flowering time. 2. Seed protein was higher in the strains with large leaves, tendril, stem or late flowering. 3. Glycine gracilis, supposed to be the intermediate species between cultivated and wild soybean(according to the stem growth habit, straight or semitendril, and seed size) was medium in protein content of seeds. 4. The average protein content of Glycine ussuriensis, 43.2%, was highest in comparison with those of others such as G. gracilis, 37.5%, or G. max, 36.2%. 5. One hundred seed weight of Amphicarpaea trisperm, similar to the wild soybean, was almost same as Glycine ussuriensis, but protein content of this species was lower than wild soybeans.
