Infrared Thermography Characterization of Defects in Seamless Pipes Using an Infrared Reflector

  • Infrared thermography uses infrared energy radiated from any objects above absolute zero temperature, and the range of its application has been constantly broadened. As one of the active test techniques detecting radiant energy generated when energy is applied to an object, ultrasound infrared thermography is a method of detecting defects through hot spots occurring at a defect area when 15~100 kHz of ultrasound is excited to an object. This technique is effective in detecting a wide range affected by ultrasound and vibration in real time. Especially, it is really effective when a defect area is minute. Therefore, this study conducted thermography through lock-in signal processing when an actual defect exists inside the austenite STS304 seamless pipe, which simulates thermal fatigue cracks in a nuclear power plant pipe. With ultrasound excited, this study could detect defects on the rear of a pipe by using an aluminium reflector. Besides, by regulating the angle of the aluminium reflector, this study could detect both front and rear defects as a single infrared thermography image.

분리판에서 기포의 거동에 관한 연구 (Study on the Behaivor of Bubbles in the Separators)

  • The bubbles made of hydrogen and oxygen gases producted by electrolysis disturb the electrolysis, but the behavior of these bubbles in the electrolysis stack isn't clearly defined. In order to study on the behavior of bubbles in the flow pattern of the meshes type separator, the flow visualization experiment was performed by using of a visible alkaline electrolysis stack and a stereoscopic microscope. As the results, a fine size bubbles adhered to the separator's surface in the electrolyte solution have grown large sized bubbles until each bubble's buoyance is lager than the sum of surface adhesion force and weight. And then the large bubbles flow into the upper area of the separator. Also, as wide area of the separator have been occupied by various sized bubbles, the electrolysis efficiency is declined.

  • Daegu Solar Power Tower Plant of 200 kW thermal capacity was developed for the first time in Korea, 2011. Measurement of the heat flux distribution is essential to evaluate the solar energy concentrated by reflectors and to design a suitable receiver. The flux mapping technique, which uses a radiometer and a diffuse plate, is common for measurement of the heat flux distribution. Because the solar power tower plant has a wide concentration area, the flux mapping technique using a fixed diffuse plate is difficult to apply. Therefore, the flux distribution in the solar power tower plant should be measured by the flux mapping technique using a small moving bar. In this study, we measured flux distributions with the moving-bar system developed at the KIER solar furnace and evaluated its applicability for the solar power tower plant.

  • For resource Recycle society, the Ministry of Environment is recently propeling the introduction of MSW(Municipal Solid Waste) pretreatment facilities(MBT) from advanced country such as Germany. On the basis of this, The Ministry of Environment plans to expand all over the country after the adaption of wide area style(Sudokwon landfill : 200 ton/day), urban communities style(Bucheon City : 90 ton/day), Semi-urban(Gangreung City : 150 tons/a day), farm village style (Buan : 30 ton/day).

  • 본 연구는 연성체와 강체로 구성된 다물체 시스템을 분석한 것이다. 이송용 로봇은 주로 빠른 속도와 넓은 범위의 이동거리의 장점으로 무거운 부품으로 구성된 자동화산업에 사용된다. 주로 3축으로 구성되어 사용되는 이송용 로봇은 커다란 부하를 담당하기 위해 최근에 강도와 강성을 고려하여 개발되어진다. 따라서, 이러한 목적으로 과도모드가 적용된 동적해석을 수행하여 어느 시간과 위치에서 항복되는지 찾기 위해 수행되었다. 이러한 연구의 결과로 로봇의 응력과 변형량을 분석할 수 있었다.

Hybrid Capacitors Using Organic Electrolytes

  • Electric double-layer capacitors based on charge storage at the interface between a high surface area activated carbon electrode and an electrolyte solution are characterized by their long cycle-life and high power density in comparison with batteries. However, energy density of electric double-layer capacitors obtained at present is about 6 Wh/kg at a power density of 500W/kg which is smaller as compared with that of batteries and limits the wide spread use of the capacitors. Therefore, a new capacitor that shows larger energy density than that of electric double-layer capacitors is proposed. The new capacitor is the hybrid capacitor consisting of activated carbon cathode, carbonaceous anode and an organic electrolyte. Maximum voltage applicable to the cell is over 4.2V that is larger than that of the electric double-layer capacitor. As a result, discharged energy density on the basis of stacked volume of electrode, current collector and separator is more than 18Wh/l at a power density of 500W/l.

  • According to the climatic characteristics of the wind power output is difficult to predict and a severe strain due to a change in output has been very influential in the grid. Jeju Hangwon wind farm, many of the wind generator is installed in a wide area because it is not have this device that artificially Smoothing is needed. In addition, By the requirements of the power company active power supply / control and improve power system reliability and energy storage during the peak demand for electricity using the energy stored in the power supply is needed. In this paper, Unit 12 in Jeju Hangwon demonstrated 0.5MW PCS and energy storage system associated with the wind through the stabilization of output and the leveling of output and test results will be introduced.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 다양한 센서 기술의 발전으로 환경 분석이나 산업현자에서 다양하게 적용되고 있다. 또한 무선 센서 네트워크는 설치된 지역에서의 센서를 자동적으로 모니터링 한다. 특히 매우 작은 센서들은 최근환경 분석을 위해 보다 많은 전은을 요구하며 개발되고 있다. 이러한 이유로 보다 상세한 측정 방법을 위해 다양한 재료와 어플리케이션에 의해 개발되었다. 또한 센서노드들은 저가의 저전력을 요구하는 필드를 위해 적은 전원으로 동작한다. 전원 효율은 무선 센서 네트워크의 생존시간에 매우 중요한 요소이다. 때문에 센서 노드들은 복구되기 어렵고 광범위한지역에 설치된다. 본 논문에서는 저전력과 효율을 고려한 센서 노드에 적용된 무선 센서 네트워크 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

  • Recently study on components for a electric golf car and a utility car driven by a electric motor has been performed actively, and the study on a drive motor, a inverter and a battery focuses on a small, light weight and high power density source to improve fuel efficiency using limited electric energy. Especially, since a utility car such as a golf car performance depends on initial acceleration and maximum speed capability, a drive system requires high power and large and wide operation area, This study therefore investigates on the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with high power density and wide operation, and is verified with the test result after design and characteristic analysis is performed.
