  • Recently, with the development of the Internet of Things, research on protocols that can easily connect devices without a UI to the network has been steadily conducted. To this end, the Wi-Fi Alliance announced Wi-Fi Easy Connect, which can connect to a network using a QR code. However, since Wi-Fi Easy Connect requires a large amount of computation for safety, it is difficult to apply to low-power and miniaturized IoT devices. In addition, Wi-Fi Easy Connect considering scalability is designed to operate in a wired environment, but problems such as duplicate encryption occur because it does not consider a security environment like TLS. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the Wi-Fi Easy Connect protocol and propose a protocol that can operate efficiently in the TLS environment. It was confirmed that the proposed protocol satisfies the existing security requirements and at the same time reduces about 67% of ECC scalar multiplication operations with a large amount of computation.

  • At present wireless internet access service is available through the 3G network, mobile WiMAX and WiFi anytime and anywhere. In this environment where there are various networks, users should be able to select specific networks depending on different situations. And it is necessary to provide mobility support between homogeneous and between heterogenous networks. Given this situation, the many proposals have been presented to link 3G, which has the largest service area among various networks, with mobile WiMAX(IEEE 802.16e), or with WiFi(IEEE 802.11). But, recently, with the increasing volume of wireless internet use and wireless internet data, due to the advents of net-book, e-book and smart phone, the service area of WiFi and mobile WiMAX has rapidly expanded. Especially, the availability of real-time application such as internet phone has led to the relative shrinking of the proportion of 3G mobile communication network giving conventional voice service, and enlargement of those of wireless internet access networks like WiFi and mobile WiMAX. This paper suggests a handover scheme based on PMIPv6, whitch support mobility between WiFi and mobile WiMAX, and minimizes handover delay. In this scheme, the mobile node has a dual stack structure composed of two interfaces-WiFi and mobile WiMAX. Since WiFi dose not support mobility, it is suggested that the mobile node have the capacity to deal with handover signaling between gateway in case of handover between homogeneous networks. This handover scheme, suggested comparing with current handovers between homogeneous networks, has proved, in its analytic evaluation, to be able to reduce handover, transmission, and signaling overhead.

  • Wi-Fi Round-trip timing (RTT) based location estimation technology estimates the distance between the user and the AP based on the transmission and reception time of the signal. This is because reception instability and signal distortion are greater than that of a Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) based fingerprint in an indoor NLOS environment, resulting in a large position error due to multipath fading. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose an end-to-end based WiFi Trilateration Net (WTN) that combines neural network-based RTT correction and trilateral positioning network, respectively. The proposed WTN is composed of an RNN-based correction network to improve the RTT distance accuracy and a neural network-based trilateral positioning network for real-time positioning implemented in an end-to-end structure. The proposed network improves learning efficiency by changing the trilateral positioning algorithm, which cannot be learned through differentiation due to mathematical operations, to a neural network. In addition, in order to increase the stability of the TOA based RTT, a correction network is applied in the scanning step to collect reliable distance estimation values from each RTT AP.

  • Indoor positioning system becomes of increasing interests due to the demands for accurate indoor location information where Global Navigation Satellite System signal does not approach. Wi-Fi access points (APs) built in many construction in advance helps developing a Wi-Fi Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) based indoor localization. This localization method first collects pairs of position and RSSI measurement set, which is called fingerprint database, and then estimates a user's position when given a query measurement set by comparing the fingerprint database. The challenge arises from nonlinearity and noise on Wi-Fi RSSI measurements and complexity of handling a large amount of the fingerprint data. In this paper, machine learning techniques have been applied to implement Wi-Fi based localization. However, most of existing indoor localizations focus on single position estimation. The main contribution of this paper is to develop multi-target localization by using deep neural, which is beneficial when a massive crowd requests positioning service. This paper evaluates the proposed multilocalization based on deep learning from a multi-story building, and analyses its learning effect as increasing number of target positions.

  • The implementation of a hybrid network utilizing Power Line Communication (PLC) and Wi-Fi technologies has been demonstrated to improve signal strength and coverage in areas with poor connectivity due to internet shadow areas. In this study we strategically positioned Wi-Fi relays and utilized the capabilities of PLC technology to significantly improve signal strength and coverage in areas with poor connectivity. We also analyzed the effects of metallic obstacles on Wi-Fi signal propagation and proposed a solution to strengthen the signal enough to pass through them. Our experiment demonstrated the feasibility and potential of using this hybrid network in industrial scenarios for real-time data transmission. Overall, the results suggest that the use of PLC and Wi-Fi hybrid networks can be a cost-effective and efficient solution for overcoming internet connectivity challenges and has the potential to provide high-speed internet access to areas with unreliable signals.

  • In this paper, we studied several aspects that affect the quality of VoIP using WiFi network. It's clear that the background data traffic within an AP, the end-to-end delay and the traffic loss of TCP/IP network gives serious effects on the voice quality. A kind of access control for the VoIP connection within an AP should be done for the acceptable voice quality.

  • Recent researches on autonomous driving of vehicles are becoming very active, and it is a trend to assist safe driving and improve driver's convenience. Autonomous vehicles are required to combine artificial intelligence, image recognition capability, and Internet communication between objects. Because mobile telecommunication networks have limitations in their processing, they can be easily implemented and scale using an easily expandable Wi-Fi network. We propose a wireless design method to construct such a vehicle control network. We propose the arrangement of AP and the software configuration method to minimize loss of data transmission / reception of mobile terminal. Through the design of the proposed network system, the communication performance of the moving vehicle can be dramatically increased. We also verify the packet structure of GPS, video, voice, and data communication that can be used for the vehicle through experiments on the movement of various terminal devices. This wireless design technology can be extended to various general purpose wireless networks such as 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 10GHz Wi-Fi. It is also possible to link wireless intelligent road network with autonomous driving.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT), which has recently attracted attention as next-generation IT industry, is based on a wired and wireless network platform that can connect various Things. However, it is challenging to implement the IoT platform because of the heterogeneity of the network. Particularly, the ZigBee transmission may be significantly harmed due to Wi-Fi with the relatively much higher power, and this is one of the reason making the platform implementation difficult. In this paper, the ZigBee transmission is measured and analyzed by the BEB algorithm for finding the slot time when ZigBee can transmit, and an actual transmission happens stochastically depending on the network environment. The simulation results show that it guarantees high success rate of the ZigBee transmission by overcoming Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
