Analysis of Time-Based Unauthorized AP Detection Methods According to Hardware Performance of Unauthorized AP (비인증 AP의 하드웨어 성능에 따른 시간 측정 기반의 비인증 AP 탐색 기법의 분석)

  • As more people use Wi-Fi and hotspot, unauthorized APs become one of big security problems in modern society. From the beginning of 2010, researchers study about unauthorized AP continually and contributed a lot of methods of detecting unauthorized AP that use wireless resources. Many researches about unauthorized AP detection use time-delay measurement (e.g., average or standard deviation) which is caused by additional wireless connection. In the most previous researches, however, the unauthorized APs consist of laptop and pulg-in Wi-Fi adaptor, and researchers did not concern about time-delay caused by software network sharing. In this paper, we show that existing unauthorized AP detection scheme that can not efficiently classify the high performance unauthorized AP.

The Design and experiment of 5G-based metaverse motion synchronization system (5G 기반의 메타버스 모션 동기화 시스템의 설계 및 실험)

  • In this paper, we design and experiment a 5G-based metaverse motion synchronization system with configuration of a mobile motion capture studio that has not been commercialized at home and abroad. As a result of the experiment, the average value of the latency test measurement using Wi-Fi is 0.134 seconds faster than the average latency test measurement value using the 5G network. Existing motion capture studios have spatial limitations as the motion capture range is limited to the Wi-Fi communication range. However, the 5G-based metaverse motion synchronization system configures a mobile motion capture studio so that motion performers can solve the spatial limitations by expanding the motion capture communication range indefinitely regardless of time and place. Therefore, it is possible to implement realistic metaverse contents by displaying a realistic and natural digital human because it is free from spatial constraints. The system which was tested in this paper can create a new business model by converging next-generation technologies that are receiving attention related to the digital virtual world, such as motion capture + 5G + digital human twin + metaverse. And it allows for research and develop a next-generation metaverse-based broadcasting solution at a recent time when the business value of digital human and metaverse technologies and functions has been proven and related sales are growing in earnest.

The Design and Experiment of AI Device Communication System Equipped with 5G (5G를 탑재한 AI 디바이스 통신 시스템의 설계 및 실험)

  • In this paper, IO+5G dedicated hardware is developed and an AI device communication system equipped with a 5G is designed and tested. The AI device communication system equipped with a 5G receives the collected real-time images and the information collected from the IoT sensor in real time is to analyze the information and generates the risk detection events in the AI processing board. The event generated in the AI processing board creates a 5G channel in the dedicated hardware equipped with IO+5G. The created 5G channel delivers event video to the control video server. The 5G based dongle network enables faster data collection and more precise data measurement compared to wireless LAN and 5G routers. As a result of the experiment in this paper, the average test result of the 5G dongle network is about 51% faster than the Wi-Fi average test result in downlink and about 40% faster in uplink. In addition, when comparing the test result with terms of the 5G rounter to be set to 80% upload and 20% download, the average test result is that the 5G dongle network is about 11.27% faster when downloading and about 17.93% faster when uploading. when comparing the test result with terms of the the router to be set to 60% upload and 40% download, the 5G dongle network is about 11.19% faster when downlinking and about 13.61% faster when uplinking. Therefore, in this paper it describes that the developed 5G dongle network can improve the results by collecting data and analyzing it faster than wireless LAN and 5G routers.

  • Radio frequency (RF) jamming is a denial of service attack targeted at wireless networks. In resource-hungry scenarios with constant traffic demand, jamming can create connectivity problems and seriously affect communication. Therefore, the vulnerabilities of wireless networks must be studied. In this study, we investigate a particular type of RF jamming that exploits the semantics of physical (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) layer protocols. This can be extended to any wireless communication network whose protocol characteristics and operating frequencies are known to the attacker. We propose two efficient jamming techniques: A low-data-rate random jamming and a shot-noise based protocol-aware RF jamming. Both techniques use shot-noise pulses to disrupt ongoing transmission ensuring they are energy efficient, and they significantly reduce the detection probability of the jammer. Further, we derived the tight upper bound on the duration and the number of shot-noise pulses for Wi-Fi, GSM, and WiMax networks. The proposed model takes consider the channel access mechanism employed at the MAC layer, data transmission rate, PHY/MAC layer modulation and channel coding schemes. Moreover, we analyze the effect of different packet sizes on the proposed jamming methodologies. The proposed jamming attack models have been experimentally evaluated for 802.11b networks on an actual testbed environment by transmitting data packets of varying sizes. The achieved results clearly demonstrate a considerable increase in the overall jamming efficiency of the proposed protocol-aware jammer in terms of packet delivery ratio, energy expenditure and detection probabilities over contemporary jamming methods provided in the literature.

  • 최근 스마트폰과 같은 모바일 단말기는 데이터 통신을 위해 3G, WiFi, WiBro, LTE 와 같은 다수의 네트워크 인터페이스를 가지고 있다. 또한 이와 같은 모바일 단말기는 대부분 배터리로 동작하기 때문에 에너지 효율성은 매우 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 해당 단말이 통신을 할 때, 주변 네트워크 환경에 따라 에너지, 통신비용 등을 고려하여 최적의 네트워크를 선택하여 사용할 수 있다. 이 때 주변 네트워크 환경에 따라 최적의 네트워크 인터페이스를 탐색하고 선택하는 것은 사용자의 명시적인 선택이나 주기적인 탐색 방법 등이 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 네트워크 탐색 주기에 따른 다중 네트워크 인터페이스 단말기의 에너지 효율성을 분석하고 효율적으로 네트워크 인터페이스를 선택하는 미들웨어의 프로토타입을 구현하고 평가하였다.

Analysis of a Decentralized Mobility Management Support for u-City Wireless Network Infrastructure

  • The number of mobile devices roaming into a ubiquitous city (u-city) continues to rise as wireless systems have been widely deployed. The number of mobile devices also varies with time, and they tend to frequently change their locations. In addition, the available wireless access networks may belong to different domains, administrations, management, and internet service providers (ISPs). A fusion of overlapping heterogeneous wireless access networks (e.g., WiMax, Wi-Fi, LTE, etc.) serves the u-city in order to reach different coverage. In this context, technical challenges arise in mobility management for heterogeneous networks to realize their potential coverage and capacity benefits. This paper deals with the analysis of a decentralized mobility management support for u-City wireless network infrastructure. This scheme takes advantage of the features of the fully-distributed model of networked-based mobility management protocol to alleviate and realize the ubiquitous requirements of a u-City.

  • Recently, various networks have been introduced in the car of the internal and external sides. These have been integrated by one HMI(Human Machine Interface) to control devices of each network and provide information service. The existing vehicle navigation system, providing GPS based vehicle positioning service, has been included to these integrated networks as a default option. The GPS has been used to the most universal device to provide position information by using satellites' signal. But It is impossible to provide the position information when the GPS can't receive the satellites' signal in the area of tunnel, urban canyon, or forest canopy. Thus, this paper propose and implement the method of measuring vehicle position by using the sensing data of internal CAN network and external Wi-Fi network of the integrated car navigation circumstances when the GPS doesn't work normally. The results obtained by implementation shows the proposed method works well by map matching.

  • This study is an empirical result for building an onboard communication network using metal surface wave communication and is a consideration of its application within the ship. Over the past three years, the applicability and the performance of metal surface wave communication has been confirmed by testing on five small and medium ships. In the tests, IEEE 802.11 protocol of Wi-Fi was used, and the signals were generated in the form of surface waves. Data was sent from AP to AP in the point-to-point form, and the transmission speed was measured at the same time. If necessary, additional repeaters were used to extend the transmission distance. As derived a transmission speed of 5 to 100 Mbps in wireless communication restricted areas of the 5 ships, it is believed that it is possible to reduce the weight of ships and costs by eliminating the communication cables by using surface wave communication as the back-bone network on ships.

  • 현재 출시되고 있는 휴대 단말기는 기존의 이동통신망뿐만 아니라 와이파이(WiFi), 와이브로(WiBro) 망등 다양한 무선망을 지원하고 있다. 이러한 단말기를 통해 기존의 이동통신망 기반 서비스뿐만 아니라 무선 IP 네트워크 기반의 다양한 서비스들이 제공되고 있으며, 산업 현장에서 실시간 그룹 통신을 지원하기 위해 사용되는 무전기 및 TRS 등의 시스템을 대체할 수 있는 그룹 통신 기술의 대체 가능성에 대한 기대도 증가하고 있다. 그러나, 무전기 및 TRS의 그룹 통신 기능을 지원하고, 동시에 휴대폰의 개별 통신 기능도 지원할 수 있게 되기 위해서는 PTT 발언권 송신 지연 최소화, 개별 통신과 그룹 통신 서비스 통합 등 다양한 요소들에 대한 고려가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 IP망인 와이브로망 기반의 개별 통신과 그룹 통신을 동시에 지원하는 단말 시스템 설계 및 구현 방법에 대해 제안하고자 한다.
